Architecture Modern black

It is undeniable that color is part of everything, with that being said of course when we pick our house we have this in mind. Talking about exterior color in architecture the choice has been all black. It is a modern way of interpretation of the buildings and it gives a more luxurious and a defined sillhoette. It is indeed a love for black that we are talking about. Black doesn’t need to be only inside your home and if it is this color that you want believe me that architecture will be flattered to work the all black materials.

“It has a great exposure that is filtered by the gorgeous pines that surround the house.

This photos are an inspirational epilogue to some architecture black projects. Consider them has an inspirational board. Agudela house is an all black house in a residential area that is growing every year. It has generous exposure and it is really close to the sea. The exterior color gave a character to this house that was made adapted to the customers desires. It is like a black box were holes have been craved to let the light create its entrances and also to add patios to the house. This is a great example of how the choice of simple black made a beautiful and modern result.

Another architectural project and known for its simple extravagance and bold shape is the Archipelago House. It is made with natural materials like wood and also with glass and it is a really light-weight building, a beautiful summerhouse located in Stockholm. It has an unusual shape and the spaces inside are ambiguous. Horizontal wooden trellis let the daylight come in making harmonious brakes on a continuous space and this is where the differences and distinctions between interior and exterior are even more noticeable.

architecture Page 1.

“Black combines with the horizon and relates to the verticals of tall grown pines.” Truth is that from any perspective black looks good and this is said every year and every time fashion wise but obviously it can easilyrelate with architecture too.Black turns a small space in a big space and this color is definitely adaptable and as you can see by the projects we present works on every ambiance and with so many decorations we lost count! Maybe you don´t want to have an everyday house all black, but if you have a vacation home why not experiment and have an all black experience? Black is not new, but is here to stay at least architectural wise.

Luxury high-end Celebrity bathrooms ore and more time nowadays is spent in the bathroom instead of other rooms. Baths take longer and longer in the bathtubs rather than in the shower. From body and hair home treatments to the desirable bath relaxation, passing through face scrubs, to beauty masks, to make up. We can spend from 10 min to almost 2 hours taking care of ourselves. But if the majority of us are spending this amount of time in bathrooms, I could not help it but wonder‌ what about celebrities? Most people were born and lived in houses with small bathrooms, even celebrities, but the need to live glamorous lives, to relax and extravagant home dÊcor is something that is just on the most wealthy range. In this article it has been prepared some of the most luxury bathrooms that you can or may find in some celebrities homes. The main characteristics of the following bathrooms, or should it be said master bathrooms are plenty of space, the noble materials use, of course the design that can be easily mixed with the majority of the ambiences, from the seaside to the more nature approach style with almost any architectural building.

Michael Bay’s Bathroom With a different architectural line appears the project of Boffi, standing out the minimal and lightweight aspect of the bathroom. Furnished by Kevin Inkawhich, and details of Diego Giacometti, that provides this project with a wellness tool. Elegant surfaces predominate in Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s Beverly Hills master bath, with stained-walnut vanities, limestone countertops, and a marble floor.

Produced with black lacquer brass spheres with some high gloss varnish spheres and others with a gold plated finishing for this lovely base to be presented as the most high-end and avant-garde design.

Cameron Diaz’s Bathroom Most of us know Cameron Diaz, but her excellent taste was not public. According to interior designer Kelly Wearstler, who decorated her New York City’s West Village apartment, the guest bath features pink onyx walls and vanity top, a lavatory sink by Bates and Bates, and brass faucet by Waterworks. The palette of colours used reflects Cameron herself; it’s initiative and sexiness.

“But what about the following environments wouldn’t suit almost every celebrity bathroom?” Tono Bagno, a Catalan company specialized in the bathroom design field, can provide you too with a luxury and idealistic idea for an almost private sanctuary for relax and make-up.Patricia Urquiola specifically chose the materials and decoration for this reflection of its refined and luxurious style. The decor and styles presented are also the most luxury and extravagance that the market has at this moment. Sometimes glamorous or kitsch but always balanced with an elegant, functional and minimal style. Ample spaces filled with light that invites evasion and rest, especially after a long day. Light and sophistication are the main protagonist of these environments was everything could be possible… even a bubble bath while you watch your favourite show.

The Lighting Design of a Mid Century Modern Era

Just like a Cosmo quizz that leads you on a straight path...towards...your love one, your past life and…well most of the times is your love life that hangs in the ballads. For now, let me be your spirit guide and guide you through the world of interior designing. “Which style did you get? Aww darn it I got Stillnovo!” That might not sound cool enough to a younger generation but the truth is that the reigning rule right now is: if it’s retro it’s in. This trends has become bigger over the years and has gone beyond interior design to further its claws into every aspect of day to day life: fashion (see that leggings your

mother wore to gym class and the headband to? Yep that’s what the cool kid from your block is wearing to school right now), jewelry (jewels that have overseen a generation have suddenly found their way into the mainstream) and accessories (that casio that you father adored and never let go? Yep the cool kid from your block… you guessed it).All of the vintage looks, the retro chic environments obey to the trendiest trend. Nevertheless, the majority of the population seems to be unware of the existence of one other interior design style.

What about Mid-Century Modern style? That might sound boring…it isn’t! Midcentury modern style has been noticed over than a decade ago and with the help of popular shows like Mad Men, that 70’s show, etc. MidCentury Modern corresponds to a period of roughly two and a half decades in the middle of the 20th century, from the mid-1940s to 1970. Its characteristic uncomplicated and fresh lines arose from a desire to propel postwar America into the modern era and to enjoy the chance that was given: to regenerate buildings and redecorate interiors with awhole new perspective, always pushing the envelope. Mid-Century Modern just doesn’t have a cool label like StillNovo or Retro Chic or Art Deco. But don’t hit the snooze button just yet. Of all the interior design areas there

is one in particular where Mid-Century Modern realizes it’s full potential. Lighting fixtures from this era are so striking that they’ve become design motifs and be used a hundred times as inspirations, all on their own. As a small piece of advice don’t let the mid-century modern light fixtures compete against each other, it will fill up the room and and it’s totally unnecessary. Choose one for an interior, a living room, a kitchen or a bathroom (why not?) and let them shine on their own in their individual space. Nobody likes an overstuffed turkey. Get it? So, today we are going to talk about Mid-Century Modern Lighting. CATEGORY Page 1.

Top 3 things you don’t know about Mid-Century Modern Lighting Atomic Age of Design - The Space Exploration is a recurrent theme of the Mid-Century light fixtures like for example the Sputnik Chandeliec. The early era of space exploration was driven by a “Space Race” between the Soviet Union and the United States. Space exploration has often been used as a proxy competition for geopolitical rivalries such as the Cold War. Atomic Age design became popular and instantly recognizable, with a use of atomic motifs and space age symbols. This chandelier by DelightFULL is the perfect example of a contemporary descendant of retro sphere lighting, Atomic suspension lamp is a spot-on interpretation of the atomic age design. Brass material was very popular in the post II World War and in the modern era there is no shortage of designs that incorporate this material be it in a lamp or

any item of interior design. Although, brass light fixtures have a charm to it, don’t you think? In the lighting world there is a very famous lamp that is totally a flashback form the 50’s : it’s the Arco Deco Lamp. Over the year, this iconic design has endured. The series Mad Men (a series which tells about how office life was back in the 50’s) counted with one between their deco items. If you want to go retro this is the classy way to do it.Cosmo would finish up by saying somethinglike: “So add your points, check the box bellow and see what style did you get!” And your tummy would rumble in anxiety to check which style is more you and the same formula still applies in interior design: you have to try and stick with a style…and if doesn’t stick you just have to pick up on another one.

Trendy fabrics for luxury home interiors

What can a fabric say about your home interior decoration? Luxury fabrics offer the finest in soft, flexible material forclothing, sheets, and home furnishings. They are usually natural, as opposed to man-made or artificial fabrics. The process of cultivating, growing and harvesting the fibers for luxury fabrics makes them more expensive than man-made textiles. There are brands such as Schumacher, Aldeco, Ralph Lauren, Rubelli, Etro Home Collection, Missoni, Robert Allen and Nina Campbell fabrics which have brought luxury and elegance to homes and other interiors where only the finest quality will suffice. These collections feature numerous classic styles and designs, including fine silks, beautiful printed fabrics and European-influenced woven, as well as an assortment of innovative modern designs.

Cashmere,

Velvet & Silk There are several types of fabrics that fall into the luxury category.Cashmere, Velvet and silk are the most well-known ones inside the luxury world for home interiors. From the wool of Kashmir goats, found in the mountains of Tibet and Mongolia, we can obtain the Cashmere. Known for its soft touch, it can be used for sweaters and scarves but also to make throws and blankets or to upholster furniture. Velvet has a short, soft nap on one side of the fabric; it provides a soft and thick look and feel to draperies,

upholstery andaccent pillows. Silk draperies add a look of luxury to your windows, as do silk throw pillows or an occasional chair with a silk cushion. Mulberry silk is the finest and soft silk and one of most expensive fabrics in the world! These fabrics typically don’t appear in bargain stores because they usually cost more than similar fabrics. Luxury fabrics, especially cashmere, often require special care and cleaning.

2015 Trendy Decoration Textured fabrics are already being a trend in 2015. For design and decor lovers, this season’s trends have been considered as one of the most beautiful, also due to its most trendy color: marsala. Marsala takes its name from the marsala vine, which is warm and inviting. Since the fashion and cosmetics worlds have already adopted the color, it would not be too bold to say that marsala will also be the trendy decorative color till the end of 2015. CATEGORY Page 1.

nini andrade silva exclusive interview

We were in a relaxed and confortable ambiance at Maison et Objet 2015, in Paris. Covet,a curated design concept that envolves brands like Boca do Lobo, Myabi, Delightfull,KOKET or Brabbu, had a lounge stand were you could sit and talk surrounded by beautiful and luxurious pieces of furniture. Maison et Objet is the best place to interview a famous and important designer, don´t you agree? Nini Andrade Silva is a very well known artist/designer that works mostly in hotel projects around the world from Colômbia to some country in Asia. We met at Covet Lounge and she immediately choose her favourite place for the interview and then, with a smile, answered all of our questions about her career. Nini Andrade works mostly with hotel projects but also does works in private houses. The truth is, has she says, “in private houses you can´t talk about the project or the clients” and instead in hotels the Hotel itself is a public space so it is talked about and if it is talked about a lot that means that the project is a success. With this designer in particular all her works are talked about and full of love in each one of them. At the moment she is doing 20 hotel projects in Indonesia, Cambodja, Colombia (7 hotels there) and some in Europe including Portugal. The Island were Nini was born, Madeira, it is trully an inspiration for her has you can see through her shiny eyes while

she speaks about it. She is a true soul and embraces the inspiration, roots and heritage from the place where she was born. She said a trully inspirational quote about it “Madeira is an Island surrounded by the sea where you can dream, you don´t have a wall and you fly and that was what i did”. Her energy comes from Madeira, but her inspiration comes from the places where she is doing each project.

“Madeira is an Island surrounded by the sea where you can dream, you don´t have a wall and you fly and that was what i did”. Nevermind the place where the hotel is she has to “go there and see the country, see how the people live and what is more importante in that country”, quoting Nini.Nini is known has a “Ninimalist” because she invented, has the experts say, a new style called “Ninimalism” and she says that this style comes from her Island.

Next July Nini is opening her own design center in Madeira and putting there all the “Girl of the Pebble” collection and from there she is going to continue developing her collections and work from there. A very talked about work of the designer that is still going around the world is the chair for Cristiano Ronaldo. The project was organized by the city hall of Paredes and it was called the Art of Chairs, the main goal of this project was to get together celebrities and international designers and then the designers had to make a chair for that specific person. For Nini it was choosen Cristiano Ronaldo and she was thrilled about that idea because he is from her Island, Madeira. She saw his dimensions, the style and personality of the football player and from that she realized “for Cristiano i can only do a chaize long” and Nini also explained to us the meaning behind this iconic chair “i did like the story of the Island and the story of Cristiano, the chair is like a golden wave that come out of our beaches and like the rocks from the beach that open and get a wave and that wave is a golden wave because that is really what Cristiano is”.

“If you believe on you, nevermind where you come from you are going to win.

At first the chair was in na auction with the wellkown auction company Christie´s and it was on a very high price and then Nini decided to make another one to go around the world for everyone to see it and of course the chair was a success because of the name of Cristiano Ronaldo. We asked Nini if it was difficult for her to have an international career and be succesfull outside of Portugal and she said that yes it was a normal process and that anyhow she is really proud to be portuguese and every where there are portuguese people and brands (she mentioned the brand Boca do Lobo, featured in Covet Lounge, where the interview took place) and she also mentioned that after seeing her work lot of people ask her where she is from and when she answers “Portugal” and people react with surprise she immediately says: “in Portugal we have this and much more than this”. Nini does a lot of conferences around the world and she participated in a lot of TEDx talks, each time she goes with a diferent character and speaks about her life experiences and in what she believes

in and is very emotional about it all. Nini believes in love and understanding amongst one another because everyone is diferent. She also explains the way she became a designer, she just didn´t like to have to know things that were garanteed, Nini prefered to create and always let her imagination flow and to be free. She had all her family support and she believes that this was esential for her to grow and became who she is.The respect for people and different cultures on the countries she works in is very important for her work because she gets inspiration from the different ways of living and every project that Nini is involved in also becames like a child to her and that is why she said to us that she cannot choose a favourite one.We would definitely continue the wonderfull conversation we were having with Nini but the clock was ticking and a designer work never stops. Anyway Nini finished our lounge confortable talk with a very inspirational and motivacional quote: “If you believe on you, nevermind where you come from you are going to win”.

It runs in 36 jewels and its power reserve is approximately 70 hours. Above the tourbillon

at 6 o’clock we can find a three-quarter dial made of polished granite. The rock comes straight from the Alps, because Hannibal Barca led his troops (and his elephants) through the Alps en route to Italy during the Second Punic War, in 218 BC. Loose Geometric Lines No, it is not lego. Although, loose geometric shapes have already been spreading like wildfire. More playful shapes are coming each day to the markets and there seems to be no rule of three: there’s hexagonal lamps, cubique chairs and triangular tables. Designer went overboard with this one.

Ochre Yellow Yellow is taking over both in fashion and interiors. Especially ochre yellow that seems to be the favorite child as both couture designer and interior designer seems to be in charge this year.

Reclaimed Wood If you do not recycle yet, you should start doing it right now. And why not to start with your furniture? Buy reclaimed wood furnishing. A reason? Most products are made of natural wood, completely safe and chemical free.

Handcrafted Products Handcrafted furniture, lighting or dÊcor objects they have an aura that industrialized products cannot have. Because every product is designed and produced by someone who dedicates its precious hours only to that piece. Those products are not the product of a machine: they are an art piece. Years ago, would you thought about having a lot of old metallic stuff decorating your home? We bet you don’t. However, in the recent years the industrial style has become a big influence on interior design world. Since exposed brick walls, to concrete walls and flooring or even vintage lighting, industrial is one of the greatest 2015 trends.

Scandinavian Design This was a major trend last year and it has proved to be here to stay. Natural materials, sleek forms and minimalist environments are the trademark of the Scandinavian design. Mater a Norwegian designer brand gave birth to a must have item for all summer houses with great lighting, introducing: the Shell Chair. CATEGORY Page 1.

Quirky Stripes Elle DĂŠcor announced it earlier this year: the hot thing about 2015 is going to be stripes. Yep. Strips are in and fare dominating even in the runways across the planet. When it comes to interior design all we have to do is look at this design by Patricia Urquiola and marvelous in the shape of it. Like it. A must have for you summer dinner with friends. Meet the Top Interior Designer

KARIM RASHID

Torn between studying architecture, fashion, or fine art, Rashid ended up applying to architecture. He went to university expecting to study architecture, but turned out to take some industrial design courses. He went also to do post graduate studies in Italy, in 1983, with Ettore Sottsass, Gaetano Pesce and Andries Von Onck for a special graduate program near Naples, in Italy. Furthermore, he has two honorary doctorates in fine arts and design and was a full-time associate professor for 10 years. On his first design job, Rashid worked full time designing business telephones and switching systems for MITEL, Canada. His first project was to design two business telephones. He eventually worked for seven years with KAN Industrial Designers in Toronto designing x-ray equipment, a mammographer, power tools for Black & Decker, trains seats, 3-d glasses for IMAX and mail boxes for Canada Post. The first own office was opened in 1993 in NYC with no connections, no money, and no one. Despite the real difficulties, the designer persevered and was determined to build his own practice and be successful. Rashid’s design styles and signature “I don’t see myself having a «style» in fact; I believe that the term «style» refers to past movements in history. I would rather say my sensibilities and

philosophy are about embracing contemporaneity with a sensual but minimal language (I call it “sensualism”), with a digital vernacular and spirit (I also use the term “technorganic”)”, tells Karim Rashid to Miami Design District blog. “I am interested in documenting, in editing the period in which we live”, he adds. All objects and spaces have semantic language and speak to us. Certain forms, line’s, colors, textures, functions, all touch and communicate to our senses and our daily experiences. Karim Rashid still clarifying everyone around him. In this top designer’s mind, it is important to not necessarily over-embellish to keep a certain truth to a product or space; objects and spaces need to touch our sensual side, touch our emotions, they need to elevate a certain experience, to increase the pleasure and humanize the world. Where do drawing inspirations come from? Getting to design things that people have daily relationships or association with is, for Rashid, one of the biggest challenges of design. Creating something that, although accessible to all consumers, touches people’s lives and gives them some sense of elevated experience and pleasure and is original, makes part of most designer’s dreams.

“Karim Rashid is a top interior designer and architect from Egypt who has a lot to tell us about his life story! Projects, styles, Inspirations and some other secrets and confessions he proudly reveals.”

Being a designer gives Rashid the opportunity to search and develop new languages and to evolve human behaviors, to innovate, to try and shape a better world. “I find inspiration to be accumulative; there’s always a storm of ideas and influences that come into play. Everything can be inspiring. It is how you look at the world”, says the designer. Childhood, education, the teachers, every project he has worked on, every city he has travelled to, every book he has read, every art show he has seen, every song he has heard, every smell, taste, sight, sound, and feeling. These are the main inspirations of the top designer Karim Rashid. Rashid’s designs and projects. As it happens with most creative people, it is difficult for Rashid to have a favorite project since his mind and passion is always into his latest projects. A 21 story condominium in Chelsea, New York, a smart high end Mobile phone, the Garbo for Umbra, the lamps for Artemide and the design of the Kaj watch for Alessi are some of his favorite projects currently. “I must say that I enjoy from micro to macro, anything and everything that creates a better human experience”, elucidate us Karim Rashid.

Luxury, Heritage, Strength and Innovation: the new look of the the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Hamburg with BRABBU’s N°20 Chair.

When gastronemer Friedrich Haerlin celebrated his fortieth birthday by buying a property at an auction for 420,100 marks, he could not have foreseen what a European glamourous meeting point it would turn out to be soon after. In 1987 the hotel was first established with the name Vier Jahreszeitenand and it is famous today as the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten of Hamburg. Thanks to this vision, and some diligent work, Haerling managed to created a harmony of spaces, surprising everyone by turning the narrow building into one of Hamburg’s most astonishing house, his work was later taken on by his son Fritz, in 1936 who continued the expansion of the building until it achieved the wonderful imposing aspect it still has to this day. It was a long project that took many years to see its final accomplishment. Today it stands as a symbol of prestige that has, throughout the years hosted many personalities, movie stars and politicians. The year 2014 marked the completion of largest renovation project in the rich history of Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten.

“The Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten is the essence of what is understood to be a Grand Hotel in the European tradition and offers an experience rich in spectacular historic charm and great luxury.

architecture Page 1.

After years of refurbishment and restoration the hotel gleams in new splendor. From the roof to the basement, the entire hotel was renovated counting new rooms and suites, new baths, five modernized banqueting rooms, a new business center, and a new conference foyer. Over 250 antiques were restored, the Flemish tapestries – a hallmark of the hotel – have been hand-cleaned and sealed, while elegant new fabrics bring the restaurants to light. Such a place rich in history and heritage could not be placed in better hands than those of Director Ingo C. Peters, who is following the restorations of all five floors, including a total of 156 guest rooms and suites, that should be finalized in the first months of 2015. We took a quick glimpse of what this grand hotel will be providing to its chic and jet set clientele in the time to come. To adequately complete the fine furnishings and researched materials the Fairmont Hotel group went looking for a brand that incorporated both class and elegance, but also modernity and practicality, to help in the transition they are facing, from historical to elegant and up to date. A Portuguese brand was chosen to accomplish this task. This chosen brand is BRABBU Design Forces, a raising name in the world of interior design that

claims to reflect an intense way of living, bringing fierceness, strength and power into an urban lifestyle, and given the result of their work, we have to agree with their own definition. BRABBU designs and produces a diverse range of furniture, casegoods, upholstery, lighting, rugs, art and accessories that tell stories from the surrounding nature and world, and we believe it deserves to be monitored as it continues to grow in the international design scenario. The brand focuses on the use of materials, textures, scents, flavours and colours that live inside nature and inside an urban life and it is for these characteristics that the match between BRABBU and the Fairmont Hotel came so naturally. Strength, elegance and care for details are common grounds for both brand and hotel, thus leading to the success of the great result achieved. The collaboration between the hotel and BRABBU concentrated in the incorporation of a very special chair, named N°20, that was designed by the brand and found its perfect fitting place in the luxurious spaces of this symbolic hotel. The chair, will in fact be present in every one of the 156 elegant guest rooms and spacious suites.

“It is our vision to bring tradition and history together with contemporary and international lifestyle trends into a harmonious whole. We are proud of our history. Our heritage is our greatest capital, something that can never be reproduced”.

The N°20 chair was invented and developed by BRABBU Design Forces and later licensed by Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten to be manufactured by their partner company JAB Anstoetz in Bielefeld (http://www.jab.de/en). The Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten has five different color themes (carmine, powder blue, kiwi, grey/gold, and lilac plus blackberry as special theme in only one suite) in place, and the N°20 chair was upholstered in matching fabrics to complete all the looks of the luxurious rooms. The location of the Hotel is a big plus: in fact the Hamburg’s Grand Hotel is situated in the heart of the city, directly at the Inner Alster Lake in close proximity to excellent shopping facilities such as Jungfernstieg and Neuer Wall and only a few minutes walk from the Hamburg Opera and Hamburg Congress Centre. We are very pleased to announce this collaboration between the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten and BRABBU. We will be looking forward for more information coming from both of these glamorous design realities. We want to leave you thinking of Ingo Peters’ vision of this work that we believe reflects a broad range of modern realities and it is also reflected in the designs of BRABBU:

Scarlet Johansson new home

he first time she appeared was in an off-Broadway production of Sophistry with Ethan Hawke. She studied at Manhattan’s Professional Children’s School (PCS), a private educational institution known for some famous acting alumni as Carrie Fisher, Rita Moreno and Sarah Michelle Gellar. And Scarllet’s passion for music was also pursued in PCS in jazz. During the school years she had some acting roles, like in 1994’s North with Elijah Wood. Her first leading part came two years later with Manny & Lo, an independent dramatic comedy. After she graduated PCS in 2002 she was already living the Hollywood life and in 2003 she had two starring roles with the movies Lost in Translation and The Girl with a Diamond Earing. The actress known for the roles in Lost in Translation has mentioned above, The Nanny Diaries, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, The Avengers and Hitchcock started and she attracted attention, for real, in the cinema field at the age of 13 with the movie The Horse Whisperer.

But this Hollywood star is also a singer, she released her first álbum in 2008 with the musician Pete Yorn. Scarlett’s career in cinema is growing everyday and she worked with some known names of this art from Brian de Palma to Woody Allen. She is talked about everywhere for gossip or sincerely because of her wonderful career. Anyway Johansson is really low profile and appreciates her privacy and she doesn’t care about the headlines. She had her daughter and months later she was with her perfect shape again also there were changes in her style. Scarlett appeared with a new hairstyle that gave her a new and fresh air and she is beautiful, has always! The new mom has 30 year old and five months of dedication to the little Rose. After her daughter´s birth motherhood didn´t slowed Scarlett down and she started working on Hail Caesar! by director-writer brothers Ethan and Joel Coen, that also stars Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes, Josh Brolin, and Tilda Swinton. The movie will be released in February 2016 and is about a 1950’s Hollywood fixer trying to keep the studio’s stars in line.

This news were hidden from the general public from Johansson but Variety broke the news this year of 2015. In 2014 in terms of professional endeavors she lent her voice to the Oscar-winning movie “Her” and added another super-hero movie to her career with “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and starred in the Luc Besson-directed box office blockbuster “Lucy,” which has all by itself hauled in almost half a billion bucks in worldwide box office receipts. The Los Angeles home was bought for $3.880,000 and though the seller’s identity is not clear the Real Estalker is almost certain that this home belonged to a “former hugh fashion model-turned-Chicago-based construction magnate” that had purchased the house back in 2013 for $3.1 million. It has 3,500 square feet, it is a 1940s home and sits quietly on nearly an acre of land at the end of Los Feliz culde-sac. The house suffered a recently underwent a glam (and fairly radical) transformation, losing its character-defining period steel windows and its retro mint-colored kitchen but gaining darkerstained wood floors and courant marble surfaces.

The open-concept kitchen and family room transition into a grand, step-down living room.

A private gated entrance ensures the actress won’t have to worry about fans trying to sneak a peek of her off-duty. It is pretty different on its shape since is obliquely angled. It has a varanda that leads to a small terrace with a swimming pool with a sunbathing shelf, a grill area, a spa for eight and a gorgeous pool side cabana with builtin storage cabinet and a under-the-counter wine beverage fridge. Maybe Scarlett is thinking on giving some top-secret pool party this summer! The features are endless: a master suite on the second-floor with a siting area, a walk-in closet, a luxuriosly sleek, ski-lit bathroom, a fireplace and a balcony that has a privileged through-the-trees view to the Hollywood sign. Custom slider doors open directly out to the flat, grassy yard. A massive brand-new swimming pool comes complete with a swim shelf, eight-person spa, and cabana. The $3.88 million house has wood floors on the main-floor living spaces which include a small central entry/stair hall and a step-down living room with glass sliders and a carved mantelpiece made with marble that can be commanded. The dining room also has glass sliders and a bay window and this area is open to an all-white center Island kitchen that invites to conversation while preparing meals. The cooking area has marble and quartz countertops, lustrous, Lucite-handled white cabinetry and mid-range stainless steel appliances. The kitchen area also has a built.in housekeeping desk and a laundry room attached. The open-concept kitchen and family room transition into a grand, step-down living room. Has a side note Scarlett and Romain Dauriac got married last summer and spent $2.2 million on a beach-house in the Hamptons. The new house in Hollywood Hills was a great purchased for Scarlett to live with her family in the quiet and privacy that they deserve.

SOFITEL BERLIN KURFURSTENDAMM HOTEL There are places where luxury and comfort are the maximum exponent. Sofitel Hotel is one of that places. For the few ones that don’t know what we are talking about (yet), this is the only french luxury hotel brand with a presence on the five continents and in almost 40 countries (having more than 30.000 rooms. Isn’t it a great thing? What Sofitel group offers is much more than a good experience: it’s the genuine experience of the French “art de vivre”. The thing about those contemporary hotels and resorts is that they are adapted to today’s more

demanding and more versatile consumers who expect and appreciate beauty, quality and excellence. You can find one of that hotels in cities like Paris, London, New York, Beijing, Morocco, Egypt, Fiji Islands or Thailand and you’ll never get tired of it. Just to keep you informed about the group history, Sofitel’s first hotel opened in 1964, in Strasbourg and 10 years later, right on the other side of the ocean (Minneapolis), another french door was opened. In 1997 Sofitel joined the Accor Group and since then, they never stop growing.

Sofitel Berlin Kurfürstendamm is just one of the properties and we think that it deserves some attention. Last year, the german architecture company Studio Dinnebier was in charge of giving a new look to this hotel and they did a great job, once they were able to give Sofitel’s a glow that we believe it didn’t needed, because luxury and excellence are, as we have told you before, part of the spirit of this hotel chain. One of the things we love the most about the space and the project is its restaurant. The copper suspension lamps they choose for Le Faubourg are the perfect pairing for the mid-century inspired red chairs. As you can see, Sofitel represents a whole world of elegance and it hosts a great interior design project. Have you booked your visited, yet? CATEGORY Page 1.

His handcrafted pieces mix ages and eras to create something special - a “harmonization of contradictory forces,” according to historian Arlette Seta. The vast variety in styles is really surprising, there is something here for everyone. Assouline began with the belief that beauty can transform our lives, and that a book artfully crafted and highly considered in its visual content can open our eyes and minds; with Alexandre Reza we can feel it perfectly.

STUDIO JOB Robber Baron Serie “Unlike most, we are probably not coming from Modernism. Studio Job’s contribution is that we have rediscovered a lost path. Consciously and carefully, we are positioning decorative arts in the twenty-first century. Is that design? Whatever. Is that art? Whatever, really.” Robber Baron, Safe – Limited Edition, Collection of 5 – Materials: polished, patinated, gilded and painted cast bronze, locking mechanism. Graduates of the renowned Design Academy Eindhoven, the Netherlands, Job Smeets (b.1970, Belgium) and Nynke Tynagel (b. 1977, the Netherlands), who both live as well as work together, form Studio Job. Having met in 1996 in Eindhoven – she beginning her studies in graphic design and he having just graduated in three-dimensional design – Mr. Smeets proceeded to open Studio Job in 1998 in Antwerp, joined by Ms. Tynagel in 2000, following her graduation. From the beginning, their collaboration resulted in highly expressive, usually one-off or limited-edition artesian works, often cast in bronze or, later, finely constructed in laser-cut inlaid woods. Employing iconographic, pan-historic imagery which can be in the same moment both heraldic as well as cartoon-like, the results are consistently monumental and yet somehow primitive, and generally read neo-baroque, clearly fantasist, and certainly more mannerist than modernist. Projecting a strong narrative quality, suggesting often a heroic battle between good and evil, their gorgeous collections seem born more from a medieval, guild-like process than an industrial approach. Although, by definition, their work has primarily been geared to collectors and museums, Studio Job has collaborated successfully with various like-minded industrial manufactories, including Swarovski, Austria, and Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum and Moooi, the Netherlands. Their work has been shown internationally in numerous museums, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, the Centraal Museum, Utrecht, the Dutch Textile Museum, Tilburg, and the Groninger Museum, Groningen, and also at carpenters workshop gallery.

Since then Sempé focusses on the design of furniture, lighting, objects and fabrics. Now Sempé works among other French companies such as Ligne Roset, Moustache, Domestic, Baccarat, Italian enterprises like Luce Plan as well as scandinavia companies such as David Design, Hjelle, Almedahl’s and the American company Artecnica. She was awarded Grand Prix de la création en design de la Ville de Paris in 2003. Solo exhebition at the Musée de Arts décoratifs of Paris in 2003. DG- Firstly, can you tell us a little bit about yourself? IS- I was born in Paris, I studied at the public school for industrial design ‘’Les Ateliers”. I opened my own studio in 2000. DG-What’s your favourite part of the design process? IS-When one is doing the technical drawings : it means that you know what you want do, so that the hardest part of the research is behind. DG - Please tell us more about your art and design background and what made you become an artist and designer? IS-I got into design because, I was and I am interested in daily life, its objects, furniture. As a child I used to like to build small objects, and I always took care to objects that were around me. Then it was quite an evidence to become a designer. After school, I’ve been working as an intern or assistant of Georges Sowden, Marc Newson and Andrée Putman before having opened my own studio. DG-Where do you get inspiration? IS-My way to get design inspiration is to draw. This is the only way for me to get an idea ; and it takes a long times. DG-What was the movie or book that impressed you the most? IS-My favorite book is « Lolita » of Vladimir Nabokov. One cries, one laughs, one is surprised. Nothing is caricature in this book. It is not a societal portrait—it is a portrait of characters who are not meant to show an example or give a message. It is what I want from books : to be taken away, transported.I’m found of the movie « Les parapluies de Cherbourg ». To me is many things at once romance / comedy / drama, it is both audible and visual delight. Ones has to be clearly bold to make and produce such an audacious movie. DG-Can you describe your style, how has that style developed over the years? IS-How could somenone answer to such a question without looking pretentious ? Life can be so heavy and painful that I just try to make object that are light but linked to daily life and industrial rules.
