MICE AFFAIRS BAGS BEST MICE MEDIA AWARD

t’s really motivating and encouraging to get positive feedback for your work. Thanks to all our readers and subscribers for the overwhelming response. The encouragements are surely paving the way for us to explore and expand. Moving ahead into the same lines, we have launched another pure travel magazine by the name of Trav Buzz. This is purely B2B magazine in digital format. In this issue which is special for MICE Planners, we have tried to include new MICE Products that are through firsth and experience of the Destination namely Russia (Moscow, Kazan and Ufa), Hua Hin and Penang. Some of the readers must have already executed some projects in these destinations but still can be useful set of information for most of us. Go through and share the feedback. We would love to hear the same. By the time this issue must have reached your tables, we would have executed another Networking and Knowledge sharing event in one of the key market i.e. Punjab. It’s an honest try to bridge the gap between MICE Buyers and Sellers. Moving ahead on the same lines, we have planned one in Ahmedabad in July 2020. One of the pages shall carry some brief information on the same. Feel free to connect with us for the same. There have been plenty of events in last few months in the world of MICE across all domains. But there have been few worth mentioning like UFI Global Congress in Bangkok in November 2019 hosted by TCEB. The global gathering of Exhibition Fraternity turned out to be a huge success. Talking about national level events, Pondicherry Mice Expo showcased the MICE offerings of the destination to MICE agents across India. We are all set to plan 2nd edition of The MICE Conference Expo and Awards 2020 again. We invite MICE Fraternity worldwide to join us and celebrate the 2 nd edition of the most reliable knowledge sharing platform and networking event in and around MICE Industry. Do write to us on Sachin@miceaffairs.com for any queries, collaborations and new initiatives where we can join hands for the betterment of business and society at large.

Ashish Chopra

Director Destination Cart Pvt. Ltd.

Q. What are the key offerings of Destination Cart for B2B domain? A : Destination Cart as B2B supplier is focused on giving best value and on ground services. We ensure that the right balance between the rates and service quality is achieved with every quotation that we send out to our travel partners. We Specialize in operating FITs, Leisure Groups and MICE Groups to Europe. Lately we have also done strategic tie ups with Quality suppliers in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand and Dubai. Thus expanding our destination portfolio. Europe however remains for all future purposes the main stay of our Business. Q. With an increasing number of DMC’s In India, how would you differentiate from other organizations? A : We are not in competition with the DMCs. In fact, as I mentioned before, we have a strategic tie up with some of them to create a wider choice of destination offer to our partners here in Indian market. A feature that differentiates us in general is the our high touch point service. Right from the point we receive a query from our customer to the return of guests we work like their extended operations team. 3. What are the key focus markets for your business and what are the plans going forward? A : We have made a reasonable mark for ourselves in the National Capital Region. While we continue to expand our reach in www.miceaffairs.com

North India, we are also keen to explore Bengaluru, Mumbai and Surrounding markets by the turn of new year. We are looking at an expansion in our operations team before the end of current financial year, which will also coincide with the start of our next big business season. As the number of clients we have been servicing since our inception has increased multifold, expanding our operations base is the need of the hour for us. Q. Can you share key insights on MICE Business to Europe from India. How it’s different from regular MICE Destinations? A : MICE Business to Europe has been fairly good and increasing year on year. In particular to East Europe and Scandinavia it has proportionately grown much better. Destination selection by Corporates is an arithmetic between the Cost, Convenience of travel, Schemes launched by Corporates, and the results expected from their Dealers. Europe as a MICE destination is aspirational for Dealers. From the sellers point of view It is less price sensitive than the short haul destinations. Finalization of Europe Groups by Corporates is a decision based on Cost and their confidence in the MICE operator’s ability to provide good quality trouble free service in Europe. Q. Planning and Execution is what drives a MICE Project. To what extent DMC’s has a role to play? A : DMC’s have a multi-dimensional role starting from qualifying the lead, working

out the logistics, fine tuning the service requirements, and the more obvious role of offering the best value and excellent on ground services. In nut shell DMC is supposed to stitch it all together so professionally that the overall experience of conducting a MICE project becomes seamless for the MICE agent. 6. “MICE Business revolves around credit and considered to be a Price Game”. How true is that in context with India Market? If there is another side of the story, we would love to hear your thoughts? A : That has been the case mostly since past many years and is so even today. The primary reason for this is the highly competitive nature of MICE as a business. Because of lack of entry barriers the number of MICE agencies proliferated. However like all businesses undergo a correction, we may be looking at more service based Business acquisition. Taking a cue from Event Management companies a lot of MICE agents have turned a corner and have started to put their last bid based on the value proposition that they can provide to the Corporates. The enterprising MICE specialists, are pushing hard to bring this change. It takes time for correction to occur however Its heartening to see that the Credit and Price Game although slowly but surely moving towards the Value and Service Game. We wish all MICE professionals and businesses the best. MICE Affairs |

I

ndians love for cricket is not a hidden file. Many organizations are leveraging on cricket events for creating a unique platform for business networking. TTCL 2019 was organized on the same lines and keeping in mindsame objectives by TBO group and ADI group in Gurugram With participation of 16+ playing teams, the event was well received within the Travel fraternity. Major highlight of the session included women playing teams apart from Networking and Business opportunities. Sport is considered to be a gap filler in all sorts of relationships and business is no exception to it.

AT TBO Group, We support trade networking events and TTCL is one of my own favorite one. Sports and Business Networking combined together is the new trend. Amazing response of the event is self explanatory. This year TTCL had inclusion of Women Team as well which is really encouraging for females in our industry. In a nutshell if we have to summarize TTCL this would be “Connections, Conversations and Collaborations” Mr. Ankush Nijhawan, Managing Director-Nijhawan Group

It’s a great opportunity to connect with the trade in these two days. We are always in touch for work throughout the year with our business partners, so these kinds of event provide us the much needed informal platform to share the light moments and encourage each other. We plan to continue organizing TTCL in years to come” Imran Khan, CEO- ADI Group

SATTE - Changing for Better

The show’s readying for its biggest showcase under Informa Markets in India

YOGESH MUDRAS Managing Director Informa Markets India

“We are putting together a show which will be by far the biggest ever.”

G

lobally, international tourist arrival was recorded at 1.4 billion and the tourism receipt generated from international tourism reached a staggering USD 1.7 trillion in 2018. South Asia’s contribution to this growth has been robust and growing year on year. And SATTE, as theyear’s first major international tourism

event, has played a critical role in the region’s growth as both, inbound tourism destination and source market for destinations all over the world. However, the role gets a much stronger fillip amidst some new changes that’s at play to unveil a stronger and more powerful SATTE in its 27 th edition come January2020. The integration of the Informa Markets and UBM has been completed this year. Informa Markets in India, the new identity of the company, will bring out its first SATTE early next year amidst new synergy and direction that’s bound to further raise SATTE’s profile as one of the premier international tourism shows. Informa’s presence is spread over nearly 40 countries with more than 500 plus exhibitions and a market cap of around 11 billion pounds. Commenting on the acquisition of UBM by Informa and its impact on SATTE, Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director for Informa Markets in India, said, “The combination of UBM

and Informa makes it a larger organisation, with a potential for tremendous reach, and therefore I see a lot of synergies happening. This pertains not only to exhibitions but also knowledge sharing, networking, business intelligence, technology and academic publishing, among others. So what we are trying to bring in is a holistic solution to a customer which will also open lots of new avenues and initiatives for them. And this will be amply evident at SATTE 2020.”Furthermore, commenting on the change of the venue last year, Mudras acknowledged that it was a bold decision to shift the venue of 25 years necessitated by the renovation that Pragati Maidan is currently undergoing. However, he pointed that the change of venue not only brought together an event that was hailed as truly international but was also much appreciated by

the suppliers and exhibitors alike. Mudras, said, “With the magnitude of a show like SATTE wherein we have international participation from close to 60 countries and every single Indian states and Union Territories, we wanted to cater to the convenience of our industry by moving the show to the world class venue at the India Expo in Greater Noida. Our stakeholders were a part of the decision making process and this shift in venue was well received by the industry too. The show looked grandeur under one roof giving it an international feel. He further added, “ This year too we thank our stake holders from the Government and the Travel and Hospitality industry that include associations, Indian and International exhibitors and regular and potential visitors for their unstinted support to our forth coming show due on January 8-10, 2020. We are putting together a show which will be by far the biggest ever.“
