A MESSAGE FROM OUR MANAGING DIRECTOR Since 1969, when Karl & Dorothy Menzies founded Karl H Menzies, we have been best known for beer distribution. But there is another side to us, and it has existed for almost as long as we’ve been in business. That side is paints and paint-related products. We have carried quality paints for many decades, such as Leyland Paints for home, Automotive Art for vehicles, and Somay for industrial purposes. It is a point of special pride for us that we were the very first company to mix paints on demand according to a customer’s preference. Several years ago, we separated our activities into The Beverage Division and Surface Solutions, and the dual purpose of this catalogue is to introduce you to Surface Solutions, our area of technical expertise in paints for every surface, and also to invite you to visit our newly renovated store at 104 Barrack Road. We carry brands from the UK, Europe, the USA, the Caribbean and Mexico. These include Leyland and Automotive Art, which are both very well known, as well as slightly less familiar brands equally strong on quality, such as Kaleidoscope Paints, Plasti-Kote spray products, SIA and Indasa abrasives, Somay specialty and industrial coatings, and Johnstone’s Woodcare products. In the realm of vehicle care, you know Meguiar’s well, but we’ve also added Surf City, Maximo, Presta, and Cyclo, all of which are excellent brands guaranteed to keep your car in tiptop shape from the exterior to the interior to the engine and more. The theme throughout our Surface Solutions offering is ‘quality.’ We do not carry any product we would not ourselves use, and we stand behind what we carry. Our people are trained to answer your questions, provide the solution to your problems, and -let’s not forget- match that unusual colour that you really like for your bedroom wall but that everyone else said was impossible to match. Johnstone’s Aluminium Wood Primer is a solvent based blend of fine grade aluminium and high quality resin. Formulated for interior and exterior use on new or bare timber it provides a barrier against the oily exudations of naturally resinous timber, can be used as a sealer on scorched or smoke damaged surfaces, and is also self-knotting.
Johnstone’s MDF Primer is a water based, combined primer and undercoat specifically formulated for use on medium density fibre boards. It provides a low odour, quick drying alternative to conventional solvent borne primers producing an ideal surface for overcoating with subsequent topcoat. Things you’ll need: 1.2 Colour Spray Paints of your Choice (We used out PlastiDip Blaze and Metalizer) 2. Cardboard 3. BYP Blue Masking Tape 4. BYP Multipurpose Spatula 5. Large pieces of craft paper
After you’ve painted the bar stool the color of your choice and let it fully dry, wrap the stool legs in the craft paper. Then spray the top of the stool with the gold spray paint.
After you’ve sprayed the top in a few coats and let it dry, flip the stool over. Measure the spot where you want the accent colour dip to stop and tape it. Repeat the same with all the legs so they will all be uniform. The next part is important: Cut out a square of cardboard about 10×10. Then trace the leg in the middle of the cardboard and cut it out with a BYP Multipurpose Spatula. Slide the leg down the hole and then you can spray without worrying about your spray paint getting on anything else. But you must let the spray paint dry fully before taking off the cardboard or else it will smear the paint. Repeat with all the legs.
Seal your stools with your poly/wax of choice. And done!

It is made from synthetic resins, as aerosol paint prevents corrosion and UV rays. Its time of drying to the touch is less than 1 minute, its hiding power is superior to the one of the common acrylic enamels and if it is applied correctly does not drain.
