Personal Statement My work investigates the production of space through geometrical studies exploring the connection between form and function. Architecture has always allowed me to combine my fascination with the functionality of art and design, and an enthusiasm for solving practical problems in the most beautiful manner. Increased computation capabilities have pushed my understanding of architecture as a relationship of objects into a new domain of spatial complexity, materiality, structure and aesthetic so to create heterogeneous space.

Project Introduction Crypto Auction House

New technology such as cryptocurrencies have given us the ability to facilitate transactions without government or third-party interference. The current advances being made with this technology and the advent of true decentralization are more important than ever due to the increasing stranglehold regulators have on traditional financial transactions.

Geometrical Study Crypto Auction House

The library pieces were formed after an in depth study of surface delamination principles from a reference art (above). The aim of this study was to create a variety of complex surface models using a minimum of operations on geometry.

1. Peel and Layer 2. Pinch and Fold 3. Pinch Circulation 4. Circulation Turn 5. Multi-directional Circulation 6. Tear

Iterations

Combining Principles These iterations are created by combining the complex surface models from the library and applying architectural understanding to the iterations such as structure, space and circulation.

Final Iteration The final iteration of the study aims to implement several working combinations discovered in previous experimentations. The model consists of three plates, each serving a specific purpose: the ground floor plate serves as a ground condition and provides structural support, the first floor plate works as circulation, and the roof plate defines the shape and serves as a cover.

Plagiarism The final iteration of the study was posted on UEL Instagram page and gained instant online traction via social media platforms such as Next Top Architects, receiving 16,000+ likes. In an interesting turn of events, this design was plagiarised by a Taiwanese firm HC Design (above images) and entered into a government-ran national competition, in which it won a budget of ÂŁ8.2 million and is set to start building by the end of the year. This case received an incredible amount of media attention in Taiwan in March, it made national news on several news channels (i.e.. Liberty Times, TBVS, People News, Now News, Next Media etc)

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Taoyuan City Government has completed an investigation into allegations of plagiarism that emerged after a preliminary investment of NT$9,176,000 (US$306,000) for the Yongan Fishing Port and Cultural Park project was approved by the Office of Public Construction in late March. After the allegations emerged, the city took the matter seriously and conducted an investigation. The city announced on Thursday, May 24 that there was no evidence of plagiarism in the design, with the Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan (

Crypto Auction House From Form to Architecture

The Crypto Auction House aims to normalise the use of cryptocurrency by proposing a market space and auction house where goods can be sold and purchased only with bitcoin. This encourages the use of cryptocurrency and challenges the idea that bitcoin is only for the tech savvy individual. By applying the findings from the geometrical study to the chosen programs and context of Vltavskรก, Prague, this building explores how the curved forms react with the function and site. To achieve the curved form of the structure, I have chosen to use cross laminated timber which is arranged in a grid shell structure.

Elements

Discrete XL This project explores how the architectural method of Discrete Elements can be applied to conceptual studies as well as specific urban landscapes, thereby illustrating the contextual relationship a building has to its environment. This study starts by developing a discrete element design through a sculptural case study. This design is situated within the contexts of an existing landscape, specifically the post-socialist Belgrade in Serbia. The aim of this study is to propose an intervention with the current conditions of Block 21 in the new Belgrade.

Grid Study

Reassembling the Elements Looking at the strict grid system that new Belgrade is based on, my design addresses the need to connect the separate blocks and create a pathway, in order to provide more of a sense of community. Thus, the intervention I propose is a library and a exhibition space to act as a core to New Belgrade.
