Waterfront properties on small lots can pose a challenge to design and install septic systems with the current setback requirements, as well as limitations that the size and topography of the lot itself. The sellers spared no expense to install THE CLEAN SOLUTION (TCS) system, a 2550 gallon, 3 compartment tank. This is an ecologically sound alternative to conventional wastewater treatment systems, particularly for waterfront properties on small lots. The system is designed to combine superior wastewater treatment with a minimum of maintenance. This system may cost up to 2 to 3 times the cost of a traditional septic system
THE CLEAN SOLUTION system can be compared to a composting system. Just as a compost pile processes waste food and other solids that can then be spread on the lawn or garden, THE CLEAN SOLUTION processes household wastewater in a tank so it can be dispersed directly into the soil. Because the biological breakdown takes place in a tank rather than in a leach field, the dispersal area can be much smaller than a traditional leach field, and the life of the field is typically much longer.
THE CLEAN SOLUTION treats household effluent in a three-stage process:
1) Stage 1 - Primary Septic: All household effluent flows into the primary septic, where solids settle to the bottom and oil/grease rises to the top. Anaerobic (without oxygen) activity breaks down solids, captures non-biodegradable matter, and begins the treatment process.
2) Stage 2 – BioCon Chamber: Air is pumped from the air compressor through an air line to an air diffuser located in the BioCon chamber. The air provides large quantities of oxygen to support bacterial activity. More than 1,000 sq. ft. of plastic BioCon media in the chamber provides surface area for the bacteria to attach to, ensuring maximum aerobic treatment of the effluent.
3) Stage 3 – Settling Chamber: In the final stage, dead bacteria and other sludge in the treated effluent settles to the bottom of the chamber, leaving treated and clarified effluent to flow either directly to the dispersal field or to a pump chamber
If considering the purchase of any waterfront home on a very small lot, know this may be the only solution available. Here the work is done.
