FROM MY THAI TO MY THAI BISTROS
I met My Thai Luksanan over 10 years ago. She came from Thailand to visit her best friend in New Hampshire. I was sitting in my vintage 1994 Miata in a parking lot at a restaurant in Concord when she pulled up next to me and stated—“that is a nice antique.” My response was “I’m the antique, this car is a classic”
That was the beginning of a wonderful courtship and then marriage.
A native of Udon Thani, she grew up in a close nit family surrounded by temples, cultural food from the land and kind people. Luksanan began to network with other Thai people. A journey filled with cultural exchange, new friendships, and deep connections like a welcoming extended family bonded by shared experiences and mutual appreciations. So many owners and managers of their own well established Thai restaurants across the state.
They have all become My Thai Friends. And the inspiration behind our new restaurant Thai restaurant in Rochester, New Hampshire
Our Thai Fest Beginnings
Every year brought together more and more of My New Thai friends involving 4 generations of family and friends gathering at our small 2 bedroom lake house in Northwood. I call it The Great Thai Fest — Preparing exceptional authentic Thai cuisine from the very moment they all arrive no matter how late—made with fresh mango, noodles, spices, sticky rice and authentic ingredients you just can’t buy in a store. than just a meal—it’s a cultural celebration full of fun, food and festivities for all ages, making each Thai Fest not only a culinary showcase but also a celebration of life and community-a blending of hearts and cultures.
At the center of all of our Thai Fests is our head Chef, Manager, and partner in the business, the ever so talented and entertaining and tallest Thai of them all, Phunnapat (Adam) Pabutta.
We had a Thai Fest on the frozen lake at our home on Fernald’s Basin in Wolfeboro. This inspired the idea of creating our own Thai Fest from the cold outdoors to a warm restaurant indoors. So now it begins at 44 North Main Street in the historic district of Rochester, New Hampshire, one of the fastest growing communities in the state. Even the number 44 is significant in the Thai culture with spiritual meanings of strength, self-discipline, balance, positive energy, and achievement. Rochester also happens to be the place where Adam first came to live when he first arrived in the United States.
Native of Korat, Thailand, Adam learned to cook with his grandmother Boonme and other family members at a very young age. Sharing this cultural and culinary heritage with others brings immense pride and joy, as it allows people to experience a part of his background and traditions through food, enriching many more lives with his flavorful creations and heartfelt cooking.
Adam states, “Cooking for others is truly a special way to share a piece of my heart and culture. The joy and satisfaction I feel when people enjoy my dishes is immensely rewarding to me. It’s not just the cuisine that people savor but also the warmth and hospitality I hope to bring to the table.“
Adam came to America to pursue his dreams. It is all of our dreams come true really.
Opening a restaurant is such a big investment with all new equipment, decor, inventory, staffing, but well worth the effort. We want this to be a Great Thai Fest experience for all who come. A place of exceptional authentic cuisine from super spicy to the less spicy I can eat. And of course Boba Tea which I happen to love.
As a REALTOR®, I know the challenges of housing for any buyer and especially workers in this industry so we are able to provide a place for our staff to have an affordable place to live close by.
From My Thai Wife to all of the people involved who have be-
come My Thai Friends, what better name to call our new venture than “My Thai Bistros”. It will be a place for “Great Food and Libations from My Thai to Yours”.— sounds like a great tag line.
