Commercial construction at a human scale.

To build a house of this magnitude requires a blend of substantial commercial construction yet it needs to meet the demands of residential design and expectations. With 37 rooms and over 17,000 square feet, it was an engineering feat. Oversized architectural details were incorporated to bring the huge rooms to a human scale. For instance, the 30-foot stone fireplace, oversized crown moldings and lighting, curved walls and counters, walls of windows, an eyebrow window and large custom hanging lights help to make the Great Room into a space ideal for formal entertaining or intimate gatherings. Long hallways have a continual flow of architectural elements, curves and angles to lead the eye comfortably down to a seamless end.

The upper portion of the tower was built off site and assembled complete with windows, curved moldings and curved walls in place. It was an engineering challenge to lift the tower to a base with curved staircase incorporated and a zero tolerance for error.

The grand vestibule and curved stairway towering four floors was another engineering marvel with portions built on site and off site--having to be seamlessly attached.

The curved railings and moldings are seamless with each piece of wood hand-chiseled to match the angle of the curved walls and railings.

The commercial-grade kitchen meets the residential expectations by installing ventilation in such a way that you can’t hear the normally noisy commercial fans.

Windows had built-in valances to hide electronically controlled shades and electronics.

The 15-seat theatre was acoustically enhanced with surround sound, yet be sound proof from the Great Room below. A hidden light-blocking shade is designed to cover a large round window to provide the total theatre experience on a 10 foot screen from your soft leather seats. The theater seats were lifted to the upper floor utilizing the top of the main elevator.

A wood lift is designed into the Great Room fireplace to transport wood from the lower level.

Stone masons were on site for 2.5 years. Each rock handled 5 or 6 times before placed in its final place on the foundation, fireplaces or stone walls. The curved stone walls add structural integrity and organic appeal.

One electrician did all of the wiring with over 30,000 feet of 12/2 wiring, and miles and miles of total wiring.

Much planning went into the whole house integrated central full house security, cameras, computer server, video and audio systems. Every room has touch control pads for every light. There is even a button that shuts off every single light in the house as the writer of this article found out while photographing the property.

This is a show house built by a family of dedicated crew of the best in their trade with a commitment to design and build the vision of a very particular family. Thus, creating a place like no place anywhere.

Lake Winnipesaukee is the largest lake in New Hampshire at over 44,000 acres and 200 feet deep surrounded by mountain vistas and the best that Mother Nature can provide. It encompasses the towns of Alton, Gilford, Laconia, Meredith, Center Harbor, Moultonborough, Tuftonboro and Wolfeboro. Each town has its own amenities and personality, all connected by the natural Luxury Estate on the Big Lake splendor of “The Big Lake”.

You will find some of the most valuable waterfront homes in the State on the 180 miles of shoreline, though by comparison to properties in surrounding states, the value is clear. The lake is a boating, fishing, scuba diving and water enthusiasts paradise. Lake Winnipesaukee History.

It is an unusual glacial Lake that reversed flow from going toward the ocean to the direction of the Merrimack River. Early explorers came to Laconia in the 1600’s hoping the rivers would lead to Lake Champlain and the Great Lakes. Native Americans name Alton Bay Iceport Winnipesaukee means either "Smile of the Great Spirit" or "Beautiful Water in a High Place." At the outlet of the Winnipesaukee River, the Winnipesaukee Indians, a subtribe of the Pennacook, lived and fished at a village called Acquadocton. Today, the site is called The Weirs, Lake Winnipesaukee Firsts.

• Center Harbor witnessed the first intercollegiate sporting event in the US when Harvard defeated Yale in the first Harvard-Yale Regatta on August 3, 1852.

Wolfeboro is under two hours from Boston, an hour to the seacoast and the White Mountains, making it the perfect destination year round. In spring and fall, the weather is ideal for golf, hiking, biking, fishing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and birding. The winter in Wolfeboro provides access to hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails and more than 18 miles of groomed cross-country ski trails.

Wolfeboro History Wolfeboro, settled in 1768, was granted by Governor John Wentworth and named for General Wolfe, a hero of the Battle of Quebec. Colonial Governor John Wentworth, his nephew, established Kingswood, an estate on Lake Wentworth, making it the “Oldest Summer Resort in America”. With the end of the Civil War and the building of the Wolfeboro Railroad in 1872, tourism began to come to this charming town. The historic Depot building still remains. The track now serves as an 11 mile walking and bike path past Crescent Lake and Lake Wentworth, ending in the town of Wakefield.
