My Earth Day Celebration -- maybe not.
Yesterday, April 21, 2022 The day before Earth Day, like so many people out there I filled my car up with regular grade gas. It cost an astounding $90.23—I have never seen those numbers at the pump. Now of course in New Hampshire the prices aren’t nutty like in California. But I mean. Wow. But that was OK because my long awaited is coming today April 22, 2022—on Earth Day. A Tesla Model S which I ordered last July. Just like gas prices my Tesla went up in value $18,000 with a $100 order fee. Fortunately my negotiated price did not go up like the price at the pump. You see I am in Real Estate. I drive everywhere. I easily put on 30,000-40,000 miles on my cars in a year. With a focus on waterfront homes I criss cross the state’s 1300 lakes. I collect lakes living vicariously through my buyers and sellers. Fortunately I am from Michigan, where cars are a life. I love cars and driving. And every mile I enjoy in a good car. Now the only reason I need to go to the gas station is to pick up a snack or two, maybe 3. I have nothing but old cars A 2004 Silverado that cost me what I paid for it in repairs every year—but eventually be a new truck with all new parts. I sold my 2012 Honda Cross Tour with 200,000 miles on it. Then a 1994 Miata which became an “antique” the same year I officially became an “antique” in the eye of all those stores who give “senior discounts”
This Tesla Model S has more zoom than any car I have ever owned. I can reach the legal speed limit of 60 mph in just 3 seconds. It is also red so I have to stay within the legal speed limits It is totally electric with a 400 mile range per charge. Buying a Tesla is an amazing process. I went down to Peabody Mass to test drive one though there were no Model S to drive. 2 were delivered that day to the dealership for customers but they made it absolutely clear I couldn’t as much touch it much less sit in it just to see--But I was hooked Plucked my $100 down and waited-and waited--all of which was fine as I didn’t really want to have it delivered in winter and I just got my charger hooked up this week. I was so excited about my new car, I also purchase a 1/18th metal die-cast scale model of Tesla Model S car which is 186.7 inches shorter and 4,559 lbs lighter. No problem being delivered to my door. The Perfect Earth Day Car. It has been said that Tesla emits 34% of the emissions compared to that of a gas powered car. In 2020, Tesla customers helped accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy by avoiding 5.0 million metric tons of CO2e emissions. Even the Tesla Factories don’t have the known impacts of so many manufacturing business. It is High Tech all the way. Everything is done with a the Tesla app on My iPhone. The App shows updates of deliver. I even purchased the car using my iPhone. I uploaded insurance forms and would get updates on everything from things to buy and delivery. And since there are no Tesla dealers in New Hampshire I had the option of picking it up in New Jersey or have it delivered to my door for a fee. How much easier can that get. Fraud? Human error? Incompetence ? Or all?. With all this breakthrough Tesla technology, it was a human that screwed up my Earth Day Celebration. Or was it the dark side of human greed. Or human incompetence. In my case I think all. With all the technology a Tesla rep calling a wrong number may cost me a very expensive car which a greedy person claims is a gift--WTF. How this can happen is beyond my comprehension.
So yesterday--the day before my Earth Day delivery I get notification that the delivery of my car coming is now a day later . More concerning is that it was to be delivered to a completely wrong address far away. The dealers on the East Coast were closed nor was there any room on voicemail to leave a message. There is no email to email to. So I called a dealer in California--they were 3 hours behind and still open. Tesla technology shows every part of all communications and contracts. I have a VIN number and an order number. My phone number on the forms changed. SO with the very helpful Tesla service rep Derek on my other phone I called the wrong number used, and some guy named Skipper answered the call. I asked him if he was expecting delivery of a Tesla and he said he was. I asked for his address and he confirmed the same one as the “revised “ address on my contract. I asked him what car he ordered and he started to fumble--One thing I know is that any one who buys any car knows exactly what was ordered. Then he made an amazing statement that he was receiving this car as a gift. Really? And his friend was Michael--that is me. Somehow he knew it was my car and gave the Tesla delivery service a request to change the delivery to his house. A delivery can only be made to the actual owner so how did the beneficiary of a gift able to change the delivery address? How was the delivery notice and my purchase paperwork changed? How the HELL can this happen. NO PICTURE TO SHOW At this point I have no picture to show of my long awaited Earth Day Celebration Car because I simply don’t know where the car is. Is it going to the guy who I believe committed fraud by changing the delivery address to his. Is it the incompetence and complete failure for a Tesla service to accepts delivering my Tesla to some guy named Skipper to a different address. Without checking order numbers, VIN numbers or Names. Really? For all Tesla customers, could it happen again?
