200m3 architecture & satellites, inaugural exhibition is a turning point event. Visitors will experience an exhbition space dedicated to architectural activity in all its multidisciplinary permutations. 200m3 is a forum for architecture concerned with our environment in all the complexity of its urban, cultural and human concerns - both built and natural. La revue Inter’s 69th Edition dedicated to the landscape and produced by Luc Lévesque will be redeployed in an exhibition format at 200m3. Visitors will witness an exhibition space that encourages multiform explorations dealing with endlessy changing land and cityscape. Approaches and perspectives vary, from the visual aspect, to propositions, projects and interventions. Vital, challenging, this show questions the limits of the urban act, and that of today’s landscape gesture. An amalgam of spatial presentations, the landscape edition taken out of its original context, 200m3 ‘s opening show provide cues for action, and investigates the way ideas, concepts, and materials are appropriated, redeployed and transformed to be given a new purpose and meaning. At a time when we do not know exactly how to deal with the phenomenon of urbanization that is transforming our cities, the landscape concept can be a tool of exploration we can use to tame the mutations taking place. The potential flexibility of this approach gives us a possibility to consider changes more positively. in between mental and material constructs, the landscape idiom liberates a zone of indecisiveness that allows us to think about the multilayered reality. If the mediation of landscape can be transfixed by reductive values legitimized by tautologies of harmony and control, its underlying mechanisms remain entirely plastic. Everything can be landscape. From April 16 through May 30, 1998, 200m3 architecture & satellites presents a Canadian premier: the work of Internationally renowned American artist Michel Singer. The exhibition reveals major works of art in art, architecture, landscape, and urban planning. It puts in perspective the rlevance of his artistic process and the various multi-disciplinary shifts it suggest and creates. Michael Singer earned a BFA from Cornell University in 1967 and sine 1971 has received numerous awards including fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation. The New York Times chose Singer’s design of a massive waste-recycling and transfer station in Phoenix as one of the top ten design events of the year. He has completed a project of two acres for the Wellesley College campus in Massachusetts. He was chosen to lead a design team for an urban renewal Waterfront Park at New Haven, Connecticut. In Phoenix, Arizona, he collaborated with artist Linnea Glatt on the site plan and architectural design of a $18 million recycling center. In Stuttgart, Germany, he completed a sculptural garden commemorating ‘Those who survived’. For the new International Denver Airport, Singer realised a large interior sculpture garden design for Concourse C. At the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Singer developped a master plan for the use and redesign of the outdoor gardens.
