“Initially the car, an engineering product, was dominated by technicians, mechanics specialists. Then the great coachbuilders of the past, like Pininfarina, were able to add poetry to the forms. Today the car is the result of a complex organization of engineers and designers.
Giorgietto Giugiaro

“You get in the new Italdesign factory and the first car you see in the presentation hall is an humble Alfasud first series. Giugiaro would like to get back some of his works: << I am looking for an Alfa Romeo Brera right now >> he explains.

“Naturally, functionality must be placed at the first place of aesthetic research. Giorgietto Giugiaro
Lancia Delta - 1979
Fiat Panda - 1980
“For me it is more stimulating to make a Fiat Panda rather than a coupe Maserati, because you have to fight more, you have to squeeze all the way to give the maximum with a budget blocked and very limited.
Giorgietto Giugiaro
Fiat Uno - 1983
“It was supposed to be a Lancia, it has been one of the most solded Fiat of all time Quattroruote
Bugatti EB112 - 1993
“I have been satisfied of the EB112, they let me a total freedom to express myself and my ideas. Unfortunately the concept never turned into production, mainly for economic reasons

Lamborghini Gallardo - 2003
&
2010
“In 2010 we were signing a 100 million euros contract with a chinese brand but I was distressed. I have been to my friends Piech and Winterkorn looking for a partner. They were worried I could bring secrets to the rivals. They offered me to join the Volkswagen group and become partners. I was worried, I could not work with anyone else anymore. Ferdinand (Piech) quickly said: <<Giorgetto, are not enough our ten brands?>>. We sold them the 90.1% of Italdesign.
Giorgietto Giugiaro
Volkswagen Tex - 2011
“In the beginning they paid attention to us. When they showed us the new Polo in 2009 I remember I said to Winterkorn: << Either throw it or make the sign of the cross >>. He threw it.
Giorgietto Giugiaro
Giugiaro Brivido - 2012
“We have never brought problems, but Stadler could not stand us, probably because he has never been involved in the partnership decision. Even when I agreed to report directly to Walter de Silva I did not say anything.
Fabrizio Giugiaro
Giugiaro Parcour - 2013

Fabrizio Giugiaro
Giugiaro GEA - 2015
2015
In these years we are surrounded by aesthetic forms that initially capture you and then disappear into thin air. On the contrary, there are such different and innovative forms that make others disappear. Giorgietto Giugiaro
“All the main historical brands nowday have their own design center. So there are only the chinese manufactures to feed the whole creative world, Giorgietto Giugiaro
Techrules Ren - 2017
GFG Sibylla - 2018
“Today there is a very spasmodic study of form, architecture and vision; without much practical or economic content - because everything has a cost. My philosophy is to make something that is useful for getting around - you get in, you get out, it moves. So there’s an ergonomic discipline, a functional discipline, better solutions, more space, but trying never to lose the human irrationality involved in a purchase Giorgietto Giugiaro
