Exhibit Hall Class Rules

Don’t Throw it Away: arrangement or wreath using fresh or dried, incorporating used and recyclable items. Container must be provided by exhibitor; any container will be accepted.

Red, White & Blue: arrangement or wreath using fresh, dried or pressed flowers incorporating a Patriotic Theme. Container must be provided by exhibitor; any container will be accepted.

Wild Thing: arrangement or wreath incorporating garden, field and roadside grown, fresh, dried, or pressed foliage, flowers, pods etc. Container must be provided by exhibitor; any container will be accepted.

C: BAKED GOODS & SWEET TREATS

Baked exhibits should be displayed on a plate or dish from home and covered with a clear plastic bag or wrap. No aluminum foil. Paper plates will not be accepted. Exhibits should be made from scratch (no box mixes). Baked exhibits, with the exception of the Iced Celebration Cakes or Cupcakes, will be judged for the following:

◆ Flavor

◆ Overall appearance

◆ Texture

Iced Celebration Cakes or Cupcakes: judged entirely on artistic skill, creativity, and exterior appearance. Cake dummy may be used.

Pies: exhibitors may enter a whole pie between 4” and 9” in size. Smaller pies are welcome and will likely minimize waste.

D: PRESERVED GOODNESS

Exhibits must have been canned within the last 12 months. Exhibits must be in standard (Kerr, Ball) clear glass containers. Judges may open jars if considered necessary. Enter jars with screw bands only; no paraffin. All exhibits must follow current USDA canning guidelines, which can be found here: https:// nchfp.uga.edu/publications/ publications_usda.html

Each jar must have a label on the back with the following:

Exhibits will be judged on the following as applicable:

◆ Appearance and color

◆ Consistency/texture

◆ Container/pack

◆ Flavor

Butter: Crushed fruit with a smooth texture; without seeds or skin

Jam: Contains crushed fruit

Jelly: Made from fruit juice and sugar; clear and holds its shape

Marmalade: Citrus fruit and peel in jelly

Preserves: Whole fruit in syrup

E: EGGS, HONEY & FIBER OH MY!

Exhibits will be judged for the following:

◆ Fancy Fiber: Quality typical of breed, length, strength, condition

◆ Honey: Color, consistency, cleanness, taste

◆ Honeycomb: Uniformity in appearance; absence of uncapped cells; absence of watery cappings; cleanliness and absence of travel stain, pollen, crushed wax; freedom of granulation and pollen

◆ Market Eggs: Uniformity in appearance, color, shape, and size

Fancy Fiber: Wool from your flock. Display in a clear plastic bag

Honey: Display in a clear glass jar

Honeycomb: a 3” x 3” cut square or a Ross Round on a plate from home Market eggs: Eggs from your coop. Display in container of choice.

F, G, H: NEEDLE & THREAD, QUILTING & SEWING

Exhibits must have been completed within the last three (3) years. Articles must be clean and neat in appearance.

Exhibits will be judged for:

◆ Design and color

◆ General appearance

◆ Suitability of the material

◆ Workmanship

Quilts: A quilt is constructed of three (3) layers (top fabric, batting, and backing fabric) that are stitched together. If a quilt has been pieced and quilted by two different people, both names must be included on the entry form.

Hand quilted bed/throw: A large quilt is one that is greater than 108 inches total length plus width. A small quilt is not to exceed 108 inches total length plus width

Machine quilted bed/throw: A large quilt is one that is greater than 108 inches total length plus width. A small quilt is not to exceed 108 inches total length plus width

New quilter: Less than two years’ experience quilting

Wall and Art Quilts: A large wall/ art quilt is greater than 72 inches total, not to exceed 120 inches total length plus width. A small wall/art quilt is not to exceed 72 inches total length plus width.

I, J: ADULT FINE ART & ADULT PHOTOGRAPHY

No glass. Exhibits may be mounted on foam core, mat board, or framed with a sturdy wire, or other adequate hanging devices attached on the back and ready for display. For the safety of all exhibits, if your item has any other type of hanging system, it will be accepted at the discretion of the Exhibit Hall Committee.

◆ Emotional impact

◆ Technique

Adult Photography: Photos must not be digitally changed or altered outside of normal cropping, color and/or brightness correction, and red eye removal; photos with heavy changes (i.e. Photoshopped) should be entered in Department J: Digital Arts, Division 2: Photomanipulation, Class 3.

Digital Creations: Exhibits should be works created in computer programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop or similar

Photomanipulation: Photos that have been altered or changed beyond basic corrections (cropping, color/brightness adjustments)

K: ADULT HOME CREATIONS

Anything goes! Exhibits must have been completed within the last two (2) years. Items will be judged on the following:

◆ Technique

Table Settings: exhibitors will be provided ½ of a 6’ table for their exhibit, 3 settings

L: MOUNTAIN SPA

Exhibits will be judged on the following:

◆ Appearance

◆ Consistency

◆ Scent appeal

Lotion: Display in a clear container with a lid

M, N: TEEN FINE ART, JUNIOR FINE ART

No glass. Exhibits may be mounted on foam core, mat board, or framed with a sturdy wire, or other adequate hanging devices attached on the back and ready for display. For the safety of all exhibits, if your item has any other type of hanging system, it will be accepted at the discretion of the Exhibit Hall Committee.

P, Q, R: TEEN HOME CREATIONS, JUNIOR HOME CREATIONS, & BEGINNER HOME CREATIONS

Anything goes! Exhibits will be judged on the following:

Fairy Garden: Use plants, flowers, and items planted in a creative container to create the perfect home for your garden-dwelling friends

Pet Rock: Show off your friend! Rock weight must be between 2 ounces and 2 pounds. Rock may be dressed in man-made attire or decoratively painted

Refrigerator Art: No need for a hanger! Exhibits will be displayed with a magnet.

Attention Artists

Exhibitors are welcome to sell their work at the Exhibit Hall. At check-in, pick up a sales tag to attach to your work after judging is complete. It’s the responsibility of the artist, not the Fair, to handle all sales transactions.
