“Beginning this fall, there will be a charge for color printing: $0.25 per page or $0.40 per duplex page.” a space called the Michigan Tech Information and Learning Commons. Several current computer labs will be relocated to this area upon its completion. The first two steps of the 14-step program are to be completed by mid to late September. “As the project progresses we will update the campus community with a more definite timeline,” said Matthew Watrous, Help Desk Manager for the Information Technology Center on campus. and collaborative-study spaces are in the works “This includes the purchase and deployment of 235 new computers, desks, tables, chairs. The furniture and equipment will be installed across all floors of the library,” said Watrous. There will be increased technology, computing and soft seating throughout the space. The new library space, along with the rest of the library, (excluding the Library Café) will be available 24/7. “The Information and Learning Commons will benefit students with new cutting edge computing equipment, a central campus location for collaboration or self study and technology support,” said Watrous. The IT department works with faculty, student groups, computing committees and the University Leadership and Academic Administration. Many of these groups contributed to the establishment of the new Information and Learning Commons. Certain open labs across campus that will be moved into the library during the process include: EERC 318 and 723, M&M U202 and U203, ChemSci B006, B010 and 204, MEEM 119, 122 and 125, Fisher 228, and DOW 709. “We understand how important the current lab spaces are for study and have designed the Information and Learning
