Renovations create student org opportunities SASHA BURNETT Lode Writer Between the efforts of the Memorial Union (MUB) Board, the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) and the Student Activities Office, student organizations can find themselves at home in MUB room 106. In the past, room 106 was considered un-industrial, unwelcoming and inactive, according to David Shull, president of the MUB Board. The room had 12 tall desks, furniture from the 1960’s, and a closed floor plan. “Last year the usage of the student activities office was on average 20 to 30 unique students per week. The office is supposed to serve the 200 plus student organizations on campus so we wanted to make it a place that will be used,” Shull said. Beka Horsch, President of the Panhellenic Council, proposed a change for the student activities office. “When I came back from LeaderShape, an event that spans a week at the Ford Center to help hone leadership skills and develop missions, I had this vision for a neutral territory on campus for people to come and ask questions.
Outdated furniture in MUB 106 has been replaced with mobile upgrades. The office space now has an open floor plan.
