Hood To Coast Israel Bible-Revival Relay Race September 14-15, 2017 Mate Yehuda Regional Council Relay and Ultra Race
תיירות מטה יהודה
מחלקת תיירות וחקלאות
Updated August 28, 2017
Preface
Dear Runners, The race originally known as Bible Revival, which is in its fifth year, is now called Hood To Coast Israel Bible Revival. This first-class event passes through 200 kilometers of breathtaking landscapes in the Judean Hills and plains, including towns and communities that are part of the Mate Yehuda Regional Council as well as historical biblical sites. The course passes through scenic parts of the country, between mountains and valleys, trails and rivers, vineyards and bridges, and along train tracks, expansive fields and coastal plains.
Ultra-marathon heats for individuals were added in 2016, and this year we’ve added 100km and 200km heats. For the first time, individual runners will be running the 200 kilometer course in its entirety and we will be waiting for them, full of excitement, at the finish line. The diverse options are designed to enable many runners to take part and enjoy this running celebration. The race is an initiative organized by the Mate Yehuda Regional Council with assistance from hundreds of volunteers who live in the area and running enthusiasts. Hood To Coast Israel Bible Revival, was conceived out of love for running, nature, heritage, community and challenges. Most exchange stations are located in towns and communities in the Mate Yehuda Regional Council, where residents will staff the exchanges, coordinate logistics, contribute to the atmosphere and encourage the runners. In 2016, we began collaborating with the Alexandroni Reserve Brigade of the IDF, which sent 22 teams of its officers to the race. The collaboration has expanded this year and will include about 400 standing army and reserve soldiers, who will participate in the race as runners and pacers. Stories about the bravery of the IDF’s brigades in the past and the present are integrated in the race course. The Bible Revival Village, which is located within 30 minutes of each exchange station, offers a continuous festive atmosphere through the races. The village will give participants the opportunity to socialize over food, beverages, and live entertainment, or to simply rest and recover in between legs.

Updated August 28, 2017
We have placed special emphasis this year on safe running during the hot hours of the day. Since most of the runners will run in the most difficult hills during the hottest hours, water stations will be located between the exchanges where runners will be required to stop for rest and refreshment. We have also asked runners to sign a Running in the Heat Declaration. Please reread it and act accordingly. We intend to enforce running with a hat and water during the hot hours and will disqualify those runners that fail to abide by the rules. We are pleased to present you with the 2017 Race Handbook and are glad that you chose to take part in Hood To Coast Israel Bible Revival.
Special Thanks We would like to thank our sponsors and partners: Hapoel, Barak Winery, Sorek Winery, Nature and Parks Authority, JNF, Adanim Youth Village, Kibbutz Nachshon, 32Gi - the nutrition supplier for Bible- Revival runners, Lapidot Ltd., Bedarkam, Gvanim School in Modi’in, Sha’ar HaGai Field School, Kol Ami army preparation program, Garin Oded, Safe City, the towns and communities in the Regional Council, and the hundreds of volunteers who, together with us are taking part in organizing the race for its fifth year.

Registration opens on June 25th, and will be limited to 500 teams. Today, the relay hosts 19,000 participants and has sold-out for 18 consecutive years on the opening day of registration, while placing an additional 40,000 hopeful participants on a waiting list. Participants come from all 50 US states and 43 countries. The Bible-Revival race is a relay that spans over 200km, passing through breathtaking landscapes of the Judean hills, where biblical heroes left their mark, and where world-class wine-making and vinery can be experienced. Safety Instructions
To ensure that your race experience is complete and to avoid unnecessary injuries and risks, runners, companions and anyone else entering the race area must abide by the following safety instructions: Runners must follow to the race marking along the course. Runners must at all times wear their bib and wristband. It is mandatory that runners be equipped with water and a cell phone, and at night also with a reflective vest, a blinking red tail light and a headlamp or hand-held spotlight that emits bright light. Runners should familiarize themselves with the race course, read its description, be aware of its problematic elements and run accordingly. Runners must take the weather conditions and terrain into consideration and proceed with maximum caution. Part of the course will be on roads with vehicular traffic. On those roads, runners must only run on the shoulders unless instructed otherwise. Support vehicles are prohibited from using the dirt roads that are part of the race course. Follow the instructions provided by the organizers, parking attendants and on-site staff. If for any reason a runner cannot continue running, he should go to the next exchange. If unable to do so, he must stay where he is, call Hotline number and report it to the hotline. If there is no cell phone signal, he must tell another runner who arrives there about his condition. Despite the carefully prepared course markings, some runners may unintentionally veer off course. If a runner thinks he has made a mistake, he should backtrack to the last sign he saw and wait for another runner or race staff member to arrive and only then continue running. Drinking – runners must make sure to drink a lot and have a sufficient supply of water before, during and after the race. Drinking from water sources and faucets along the course is forbidden. Some of them may contain treated wastewater. Part of the race passes through private property and/or near the homes of local residents. Please be polite, make no noise and treat their property with respect. There are cattle crossings along the route, which should only be crossed when walking and not running. Before crossing a road, runners should first stop and ascertain that no cars are coming, and only then cross the road. The roads will not be closed off for runners. It is strictly forbidden to spend the night or camp out in one the exchange parking lots!!!
Because safety concerns are paramount, a team that fails to abide by these safety instructions and/or fails to follow other safety instructions provided by the organizers could be disqualified. A health declaration and a running in the heat form are attached to the following page. After printing them out, each runner must bring signed copies to the registration desk on the first day of the race.

I declare that I am physically and mentally fit and am prepared for the special effort involved in running in the heat. I will train for the race and prepare myself for running in the heat. 5. I will follow the organizers’ instructions in all that concerns running in the heat, including a switch to walking and/or termination of the activity altogether. I, the undersigned, am aware of the dangers involved in running in hot weather and will take all the needed precautions in order to mitigate or prevent those dangers. I, the undersigned, declare that I acknowledge the right of the organizers to prevent my participation and the participation of my group during the race due to noncompliance with the rules for running in the heat.
