American Corner – CPU was formally opened and inaugurated on February 11, 1985 by Mr. Herwald Morton, Director, USIS and Counselor of Embassy for Public Affairs. It is designed to make resources available to a wide range of people. Library Resources (Print & Online), DVDs, Tapes and other materials for use in American Studies courses and in courses with American content and those interested in American Studies, American culture, institutions and society. The American Corner has a new added collection, the library resources for kids, called Kid’s Corner. We have board games for students to use; can be therapeutic and can also help develop critical thinking or mental challenges that students don’t always get in a classroom setting. American Corner also serve as the venue for seminars on American Studies and as a focal point as which visitors may spend time on campus with students and faculty. We get Fulbright and East West Center lecturers, Asia Foundation experts and other American and Filipino specialists in American Studies.
