Policy context

This Statement has been prepared in accordance with Section 3.9 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.

All Councils in New South Wales are required to prepare a Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS). The Act requires that the following be included in the Statement: • challenges and opportunities faced by the region • planning priorities that are consistent with regional and strategic planning for the area and the community strategic plan • actions required to meet the planning priorities • evaluation and monitoring process to track the progress of the Statement.

The Statement must be reviewed at least every seven years in accordance with Section 3.9(1) of the Act.
