The space is set up cafe style in the Town Hall Crypt with small round tables, drinks and cake are served prior to the performance between 2-3pm. Join us once a month on a Sunday to support local classical musicians and groups and enjoy what the Tees Valley classical music scene has to offer. Doors open at 2pm and the performance starts at 3pm. Tickets are £4 for adults and under 16s go free. We welcome families with younger children to our Classical Cafe. Concerts marked with an asterisk (*) are specifically child-friendly and include beanbag seating at the front for little ones, colouring sheets and pens, performers interact with our younger audiences and pieces are shorter. Advance booking is recommended.

TCHAIKOVSKY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA MOSCOW Conductor: Jan Latham-Koenig
Piano: Pyotr Akulov – joint winner of Grand Piano Competition in Moscow 2021 Tchaikovsky – Marche Slave Rachmaninov – Piano Concerto no. 2
Rachmaninov dedicated his second piano concerto to his psychoanalyst, who inspired him to write this most popular of all concerti, after he’d lost all his creative confidence following the disastrous premiere of his first symphony. This concert will also be a unique opportunity to hear Henry Wood’s orchestration of Mussorgsky’s fabulous Pictures at an Exhibition, which hasn’t been performed in the UK for many decades. The Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow specifically chose to perform this work as a
