MICHAEL PORTILLO
DEREK ACORAH The “Eternal Life” Tour
A Life of Two Halves 3
It took Michael Portillo little more than 10 years to get a seat in the Commons and then rise in power and esteem to a point where he was a favoured leader of his party and possible future PM. Although his political career then came to a humiliating end, losing his seat in May 1997, Michael has since reinvented and endeared himself to many with his obvious respect for the solid workmanship found in the great railways of the world, the effect of the railways on the history of countries and the daily lives of their people. Listen to his story, told with a “parliamentary standup” wit, and then feel free to question him about it.
Derek Acorah is something of a phenomenon. A truly modern medium whose appeal crosses the generations to young and old alike, he remains the forerunner in the field of paranormal and spiritual matters. An unusually engaging and entertaining character for his genre, he is regularly recruited to appear in many an entertainment show. Wherever Derek goes, others have always followed (or tried). Now comes your chance to experience just what makes Derek one of the foremost names in the world of Psychic phenomena, as well as a celebrity, author and accomplished live performer like no other.
Followed by a book signing.

MY MOTHER SAID I NEVER SHOULD by Charlotte Keatley Directed by Michael Cabot
Set in Manchester, Oldham and London, My Mother Said I Never Should is a poignant, bittersweet story about love, jealousy and the price of freedom. Using a kaleidoscopic time structure, Charlotte Keatley’s story focuses on four generations of one family as they confront the most significant moments of their lives. In 1940, Doris, a former teacher, encourages her nine-year-old daughter, Margaret, to mind her manners and practise the piano. In 1969, Margaret’s relationship with her own daughter is strained, as art student Jackie experiments with her new-found sexual freedom. When Jackie becomes pregnant at 18 and has baby Rosie, a decision is made that will affect all their lives irrevocably. Written in 1985, Charlotte Keatley’s award-winning play is the most commonly performed work by a female playwright worldwide.

ANiMALCOLM The Musical
9
If you would like to know exactly what a Marc Bolan concert was like in the 1970s, this show is for you!
Malcolm doesn’t like animals, which is a problem because his family love them, in fact, they’re wild about them.
Marc Bolan, with his band T.Rex, was one of the most flamboyant and charismatic stars of the original glam rock era, with Bolan’s special ingredient of Rock-a-Boogie songs earning them a string of hits.
The only bright spot on the horizon is the Year Six school trip. So here he is, on the bus, heading to……a farm. What follows is a school trip like no other, where Malcolm begins to understand animals more deeply than anyone. But will he end up the same as before? Because sometimes the hardest thing to become is yourself.
Described by many as ‘beyond the boundaries of tribute’, T.Rextasy have now been performing around the world for over 20 years, a career that ironically outlives Marc’s very own T.Rex.
‘They’re the closest you’re ever going to get to the real thing’ – BILL LEGEND (original T.Rex drummer)

Then, the murmured notes of Moonlight Serenade…and the night, it seems, is suddenly full and timeless. THE ODYSSEY Sing, O Muse, of the critically-acclaimed Pantaloons and their hilarious new verse adaptation of the most epic journey of all time. Stranded war hero Odysseus must struggle against the odds to get home to his wife; but can he battle his way through grumpy gods, naughty nymphs, monocular monsters and over a hundred sleazy suitors? All whilst wearing an Ancient Greek robe 13 that looks suspiciously like a bedsheet? Or will he – and The Pantaloons – remain all at sea…? The Pantaloons draw from a wide variety of popular theatre traditions, from commedia dell’arte and pantomime to stand-up comedy and silent movies, to bring a vital sense of “play” back to classical performance and recapture the riotous energy of the clown. Tapping into this rich vein of anarchic humour reminds us that we are all simply participants in a game of make-believe.
