MID-MAINE
Bass Fishing Bassmaster Magazine named this region as having three of the top 25 bass fishing lakes in the Northeast. These bodies of water include China Lake at number 13, Webber Pond at number 15 and Great Pond at number 18. Not only do we have some of the best bass fishing in New England, but Messalonskee Stream has the only wheelchair accessible platform in Maine. Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce was awarded the Governors’ Conference on Tourism 2017 Marketing and Promotion Award. Previous initiatives included attracting Major League Fishing’s Summit Cup and Fishing University that aired on Outdoor Channel, and most recently, Hank Parker’s Outdoors that taped three episodes that aired in early 2018. Recently, www.midmainebass.com was created by local fishermen to help local and visiting anglers find their way around mid-Maine and to identify the best bass fishing in the country. The site shows maps and photos of boat launches to make it easier to find lakes, rivers, fishing holes and accompanying parking. There are topographical maps of each lake to make planning trips quicker and more relaxing. Bloggers post full stories and videos to help organize expeditions to the area. Visit the site for an extensive list of bait shops, marinas, lodging, restaurants and local recreational tournaments. Upcoming tournaments are posted in the “Events” section. The “Local Lunkers and Photo Gallery” allows fishermen to share and upload photos, stories and details about bass caught in the area. Find more stories and photos on Facebook at “Mid-Maine Bass Fishing”. 26
