T & B’s Outback Tavern celebrates at B.A.H.

Lunch, dinner, a night of dancing? Or the perfect place for a formal wedding reception. You’ll find it all at T&B’s Celebration Center and Out-Back Tavern at 6 Jefferson St. T&B’s will also be the site for the (Wednesday, Jan.18) Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Business After Hours, starting at 5:30 p.m. “We’re excited,” said co-owner Brenda Washburn. “The after-hours event is a great networking opportunity for everyone. And this is a good way for people to see what we are doing and what we can offer.” What they can offer is a lot. Washburn and husband Terry purchased the Waterville T&B’s in February 2011. The 12,500 square foot facility, when both sides of the building are utilized, can accommodate up to 700 people. If planning a wedding, the celebration center is a full-service ally. Brenda said T&B’s can recommend DJs, photographers and will handle all decorations and set up. They are equally at home hosting class reunions and birthdays. Daughter April Trenholm manages the Center in Waterville while daughter Amanda Saucier runs the T&B’s Celebration Center in Skowhegan.

On the tavern side, Brenda said she is always on the scene. “We have our chefs, but I do a lot of cooking,” she said. “I’m a hands on person. I want to know that the service is there, that the food is going out the right way.” The restaurant uses only fresh foods, she said. They cut their own onion rings and mushrooms for example.

And the menus are expansive – from steak to lobster or even pizza. During the week, the tavern is open Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 4-9 p.m. Thursday is open mike night and Friday is hosted by Matt James of 92 Moose radio. Saturday features live bands and dancing. Sunday it’s breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon. The Washburns started in business in February 2007. By October of 2008, the couple were successfully running Skowhegan’s T&B’s Celebration Center, T&B’s Out-Back Tavern and Central Maine Family Fun bowling lanes all under one roof. Also in Skowhegan, they have added a pro shop and Stitches ‘N T’s, a professional embroidering and screen printing business. By 2011, they decided it was time to expand to Waterville. Brenda wasn’t always in the tavern/entertainment business. She started in banking in 1983. She worked for Kennebec Federal Savings for 11 years. She is a past director of the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, serving from 2005 to 2008. During the years she has also helped with the Taste of Greater Waterville, she added. On January 18th she will combine all her talents – business woman, chamber veteran and hostess–when the BAH kicks off from 5:30-7 p.m.

Inland, KBH, Eastern Maine HomeCare co-host February Business After Hours event

Inland Hospital, Kennebec Behavioral Health (KBH), and Eastern Maine HomeCare (cq) are pleased to co-host the February 15, 2012 Mid-Maine Chamber’s Business After Hours event, to be held at the Inland Family Care/KBH offices on the Concourse in downtown Waterville. Inland Hospital introduced Inland Family Care downtown last spring while KBH began offering mental health services in the fall. The family practice and mental health practices are integrating its services to make healthcare more accessible for local patients. The offices are located at 16 Concourse West, next to the Dollar Tree. For more than 10 years the space that once housed the Ames Department store on the Concourse had been sitting empty. But the

new Inland and KBH offices changed that and are helping downtown Waterville grow and prosper. Primary care physicians John Bonney, MD and Jodine Sejour, MD, along with Family Nurse Practitioner Jennifer Penney, FNP are the family healthcare providers at Inland Family Care. Inland will be adding additional providers in the future. The practice uses an open

scheduling concept so patients can be seen quickly and not weeks or months down the road. In addition to primary care services, Inland has partnered with Kennebec Behavioral Health to offer mental health services at the location. KBH opened its office next door last November, but is also utilizing space inside Inland Family Care for the convenience of primary care patients.

TAKING THE OATH:

New and re-elected members of the MMCC Board of Directors were sworn in during the annual directors luncheon held Dec. 16 at Silver Street Tavern. From left, Bob Harriman conducts the ceremony for Bruce Harrington, Renee Hawthorne and Jeff Corey. Not in photo, Darlene Ratte and Dan Bickford.

KBH’s Emil Bukher, MS, NP, is handling behavioral health patients along with Dr. Robert Anderson, MD, who is KBH’s Medical Director. KBH CEO Thomas J. McAdam said KBH is “very pleased to count Inland Family Care as one of our partners in offering integrated care at a convenient colocation.” Inland President/CEO John Dalton said, “We are proud to improve access to primary care in a convenient location and pleased that we will be contributing to the overall health of our community by being part of a vibrant downtown area.” Inland invested about $1.5 million to renovate and furnish the 12,500 square foot office space. According to Maureen Giffin, Community Relations Liaison for Eastern Maine HomeCare, which is co-sponsoring the Business After Hours event with Inland and KBH, “Our staff live locally in the Waterville area and provide homehealth and hospice services to the community.” Ms. Giffin continues, “We look forward to sharing more information about our services with business people.” Inland and Eastern Maine HomeCare are members of EMHS (Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems). KBH has five clinics in central Maine. It operates independent vocational rehabilitation clinics in Waterville, Augusta and Lewiston.
