SALFORD HOSPITAL - THE CHRISTIE UNIT - CASE STUDY
Low Carbon Energy Solutions for Building Services
LoadTracker combined heat and power (CHP)
The Project
The Challenge
The Christie at Salford Royal is part of a unique network of Christie radiotherapy centres and has been created so that local cancer patients from Salford, Bolton and Wigan can access first class radiotherapy treatment closer to home.
The extremely high energy demands of this building meant that, to comply with mandatory building regulations, a highly energy efficient means of producing heat and power was required to supply site demand.
Summary of Site Demand
The Solution
Annual electricity demand......................430,578 kWh
Supplied and installed one 15kWe/ 30kWth LoadTracker CHP units able to supplying 92% of site heating and hot water demand and 20% of electrical demand.
