“The Building Regulations (Part L) require that air tightness pressure testing is carried out on new dwellings. A copy of the test certificate shall be submitted to the Building Control Authority”.

Air tightness testing is the procedure that quantifies the extent to which buildings ‘leak’ air through their envelopes. Air leakage is a vehicle for heat loss & energy wastage resulting in increased space heating & cooling loads by the constant uncontrolled flow of air through the building fabric. Better

OPTIONAL THERMOGRAPHIC SURVEY & REPORT...

Better Energy offer an optional thermographic diagnostics service to assist in improving the thermal performance of the dwelling.

The survey employs the latest technology digital thermal imaging cameras to investigate joints between different building elements that can create air leakage paths and cause drafts.

Thermal imaging techniques can identify areas of defective or poorly installed roof, floor and cavity wall insulation.

Poorly fitting doors, windows and ventilation terminals contribute to poor thermal performance in a dwelling. Defects are readily highlighted with our cameras and colour images are included in the report.

Digital thermography can also highlight areas of moisture penetration in a dwelling that can be difficult to detect.

The thermographic report shall include recommended remedial measures so that the thermal performance of the dwelling may be improved and pass the air permeability test.
