VERIZON FIOS-INNOVATING FOR THE CONNECTED HOME—NYC 5/7/2013
The Innovating for the Connected Home, Living Room and TV Meetup, sponsored by Verizon FiOS, Mashable, and MIT Enterprise Forum, was aimed at creating a community of likeminded individuals to have conversations about the possibilities for high-speed broadband internet and innovation. My role on the Verizon FiOS team at MWW was to coordinate and execute all social media efforts promoting, during, and after the event. Additionally, I became the point person for communications with the sponsored journalist attending the event. To aid the live tweeting of the event, I had created a cache of content relating to the sponsors and exhibitors at the event to be pushed out when the opportunity presented itself in the online conversation.

Recognition
Live Tweeting the Event Giving those who could not attend the event in person a window into the action was crucial to online engagement.
Mutually Beneficial Promotion Giving your brand’s stage to partners can be beneficial to your client by gaining access to and recognition in a partner’s social following.
Being able to have in-person conversations with the exhibitors allowed for copy and images on twitter that seemed more genuine in nature, the online audience responded best to this kind of content. Sponsored Journalism Working with a sponsored journalist to cover the event, write a trend piece, and share to her following greatly increased the reach of the core messages of the campaign.
