MIKINECTOUX 2017 PORT-FOLIO A CLOSE UP ON
ARCHITECTURE DESIGN & BUILT SPACES
DESIGNED SPACES The following is a range of projects exploring ways to write the city and the landscape. These projects have been developed as a student, as a project partner in studios and as an independant designer. One can notice here two kinds of opposing yet complimentary gestures : (1) the invisible architecture and (2) the landmark. The exploration of this conflict reveals a wide range of projects.
MASS + SKELETON EMBEDMENT location virtual scale 100m2 program free function brief to explore the possibilities of structure and shape using two different materials, construct the design on a sloping surface. gesture this project features an embedded gesture played with brick and wood. status 2008 university project at ENSA grenoble, france (class by teacher Patric Doat)

EXPERIMENTED SPACES AND PROCESSES More than being merely a matter of design, the architectural project is above all to be built and then to be experimented. To ensure the durability of the design and its uses, we must experiment all the ways : oneself’s way and the others’ ways. Therefore questioning our architecture constantly. In time, experimenting on the scale 1:1 various stucture became a necessity to me. It came from this interrogation : How to intend building a virtuous space while not having the knowledge of the material, the environement and the people living there?

This site has worked as a family, with a father as a site manager. But it has been also a workplace where the voice of the leader isn’t necessarily a final decision. My intern status didn’t let me an ‘extra boy’. On the contrary, I was rather listened. Each of us were from a different background, and were listened to. Remains a project of such high quality, made by a team as a perfectionist (as compared to the image that I could have about builders).

This internship allowed me to understand what is the production time required. It led me the idea that pushing the design upstream will always help a good implementation : the more questions staying unanswered during the design phasis, the more the building process might encounter obstacles.

The C.A.U.E. is a local association (there is one for each french department) acting as an open counsellor and as a warner in the fields of architecture, urbanism and Environment. They act in a local educationnal circle, or with whatever citizen (even entreprises) opened to explore new eco-friendly fields, through exhibitions ; visits ; architectural and technical office hours support. I joined the association members through their meetings with local political actors. The internship was mainly about designing an exhibition about A. Pellier, a local architect. We first had to do the inventory the architect’s works and then to choose which ones to introduce to a large public. Four architectural gestures made characteristic for his architecture. We tried to summarize the architectural patterns into the exhibition stand design.
