There is a vibrant community of disc golf players and supporters in Bedford County. Our passion for the sport can be seen in the quality of the courses, as well as the hospitality with which visiting players are welcomed. There are five beautiful courses available to the public for free, two of them designed by world champion, Paul McBeth. The variety of terrain makes Bedford a major disc golf destination. The finest players in the nation can enjoy a challenging round, while families and beginners can feel comfortable enjoying a fun day on the course.

visiting Bedford
With five beautiful courses in Bedford and more in neighboring communities, you’ll want to stay a few days to play them all. Bedford is located where the Piedmont Plateau meets the Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s a breathtakingly beautiful county filled with charming towns and world-class attractions, like the Blue Ridge Parkway, Smith Mountain Lake, Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest and the National D-Day Memorial.
The county also offers amazing outdoor adventure, great dining options, and a popular craft beverage trail that features wine, beer, cider and mead. It’s a perfect way to relax after a day on the course.
Take a Few Practice Throws
The county’s newest addition for disc golf players is a fun Pitch & Putt course located on the grounds of the official Welcome Center. The short nine-hole circuit is a great way to warm up or take a few practice throws. It’s great for beginners, or as an introduction to the sport for anyone who has never thrown a disc.
The Pitch & Putt honors the legacy of Kenny Palmer, former Bedford County Parks & Recreation employee, who helped establish a culture for disc golf in Bedford.
2024 PDGA Professional Disc Golf World ChampionshipS
Destination Bedford is honored to be the site of the 2024 PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships. Hosting the greatest players and spectators from around the world will shine an international spotlight on Bedford, showcasing our great facilities and love of the sport of disc golf.
For five days in August, we welcome visitors to marvel at the skill of the world’s finest men and women disc golfers. Share in the excitement of competition at the highest level of the sport.
New London Tech Disc Golf Course
New London Tech Disc Golf Course opened in April 2021. This is a Par 68, 18-hole championship course, designed by World Champion Disc Golfer, Paul McBeth. The course spans roughly two miles, weaving throughout wooded and green areas in the business park, and boasts custom-made Paul McBeth Signature Series Baskets that are exclusive to courses that McBeth has helped to design, with Bedford County being the first.
This course is located inside the New London Business and Technology Center on Route 460 in Bedford County. There is no cost to play this course.

Montvale Park
This course opened in November 2019 and is 18 holes with turf tee pads. It’s a totally wooded course that traverses through the heavily wooded backside of Montvale Park. It begins and ends at the parking area on Quarterwood Rd., and has a physically demanding technical layout with lots of elevation gain and loss.

Moneta Park
The course at Moneta Park is 18 holes with concrete tees and has two different baskets from which to play. The red baskets are shorter in distance and less difficult (more suited to newer players). The white baskets play longer and are designed for the more advanced player. There is a good mix of open and wooded holes with beautiful views and rolling hills.

Independence Park
Independence Park Disc Golf Course traverses across 46 acres of moderately wooded and hilly terrain. This course will challenge both amateur and advanced level players with long wooded holes, bookend water carry holes (#1 and #18) and steep elevation changes.
The long or “pro” layout was designed by World Champion Disc Golfer, Paul McBeth, and is considered one of the most challenging layouts around.
The short or “amateur” layout is a little more forgiving, but still requires the player to hit gaps and be accurate off the tee. This course is not recommended for beginners, however, everyone is welcome to give it a try.

Falling Creek Park
At Falling Creek Park, play from the concrete paver tee to either the yellow (20) basket or the red (18) basket. The yellow course has 20 holes, and the red course has 18 holes. Falling Creek’s courses are mostly open, with some cedar-lined fairways. A good course for newer players.
