WORDS: Sandy Mackall
Children are our greatest resource. And the staff at the RAFM Child Development Center (CDC) fully embrace that sentiment. Every child. Every day.
The CDC serves the child care needs of military members for children six weeks to five years. They offer services such as full day and weekly childcare, hourly care, before and after school care, a Part-Day Enrichment (PDE) program, and the Give Parents A Break (GPAB) program.
When asked what inspires her each day, Becky Shipp, a supervisory technician, quickly responded, “The children! They make your day and always make you smile. Even on a rainy, dreary day, they cheer us all up and we can’t wait to hear their stories.” Additional learning activities
are a part of every interaction. To celebrate Month of the Military Child, the CDC staff and registered children will be engaging in Purple Up Day, Spirit Week, and wearing purple every Friday.
The center currently has about 50 employees – and is hiring. If you want to make a difference in a child’s life, please contact the CDC at 01638 54 2042 or visit USAjobs for child care/Mildenhall.
A Parent Advisory Board assists the center in being a voice of the parents. It consists of five members who are voted in and serve one year. Any parent is invited to attend the meetings, which occur once each quarter. Contact the CDC for meeting times.
