Lindsey Wendland LIBRARIAN

100TH FORCE SUPPORT SQUADRON

Spotlight Meet the 100th Force Support Squadron's May Spotlight! Lindsey Wendland, Lindsey is our Librarian at the library. You can catch her live on Facebook @RAFMLibrary every Wednesday at 11am for virtual storytime and a craft!

Where do you call home in the states? I’m a California girl. I was born and raised in Northern California. After graduating high school, I moved to Southern California. Both parts are considered “home.”

What are some of your hobbies? I love travel, hanging with my family, all things food related, reading, riding things with wheels (I even dabbled with a unicycle back in the day), exploring, anything that gets us outdoors and trying new things.

How long have you lived in the UK? We have been here two years and are looking forward to the adventures the next 2 years bring.

What do you like about working at the Library? What’s not to love about the library?! As a military wife and mother of two, the library has always been the safe place my kids and I have always run to as we have moved around the globe. Through all the change is has been our one constant.I love being surrounded by books all day, learning new things alongside my colleagues and we’re always branching out to work with people from 100 FSS and beyond I could go on forever, so I’ll just say hands down best job ever!

What special skills do you have, that most people don't know about you? I’ve got some moves on quad skates that are considered skills. I played competitive roller derby for four years at our last base competing in Korea, Hawaii and Japan. This sport made me fall in love with fitness where I went on to earn my 200-hour yoga teacher training and a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science.

Zoe Jean-Charles I am a fourteen-year-old eighth-grader at RAF Lakenheath Middle school. I go to the Mildenhall Youth Center and I am the 2020 Youth of the Year for this base. I enjoy sketching and playing music in my free time.

I am also hoping to make the world better

by fighting ignorance and hate. As a member of the LBGTQ+ community,

I am currently working with my school, to start a GSA.

A GSA safe space for learning about LGBTQ community.

I would like to use this opportunity to help me grow as a leader so that I can further help my community and fellow youth. I also think this would be a great opportunity to learn and better my writing and communication skills so that I can prepare for college and my future endeavors.

Being selected as Youth of the Year was a great accomplishment that I could not have done without the help of many people. Many of my friends, teachers and Teen Center staff encouraged me to try and step out of my comfort zone. I hope to make them proud and become a better person, student and help create a better Youth Center experience for future teens and youths.
