Purpose To provide pre-accredited training courses designed to support people with a disability to develop confidence and provide them with skills and knowledge to support their preparation for work, volunteering or other vocational activities. Courses are conducted using flexible teaching methods and approaches to accommodate individual needs including flexible start and finish times.

Pricing MiLife-Victoria receives Victorian Government funding from the Council of Adult Community and Further Education to conduct courses in the areas of Work Skills to meet the needs of adults with a broad range of disabilities from the community. By presenting a Health Care or Concession Card you are eligible to receive reduced course fees, this includes material fees. If you are not eligible for concession your fees will be discussed upon enrolment. Adult Community and Further Education (ACFE) funded, GST exempt.

Enrolments can be at any time during the course if a vacancy is available. Enrolment forms are located on the website at www.milife-victoria.org.au. These courses are subject to change and/or availability depending on the number of students enrolled at the time. Please acknowledge that by enrolling there will be no refund whether enrolment is at commencement or at any time of the course.

WORKING IN WAREHOUSING Overview This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn specific skills related to working in a factory environment as well as generic employability skills. Delivery of the course will be workplace based learning giving the students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have learnt in a real work situation at a factory/warehouse in the Southern Suburbs.

WORKING IN ADMINISTRATION Overview This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn specific task skills related to working in an administration role as well as generic employability skills. Delivery of this course will be workplace based learning, giving the students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have learnt in a real work situation.

LITERACY IN THE WORKPLACE Overview Students will learn how to read and interpret generic and specific workplace terminology, language, signage, documentation as well as workplace policies, procedures and work instructions.

WORKING IN HOSPITALITY Overview The learning objective of this course is to expose students to an industrial kitchen where they can develop skills and knowledge in the area of food preparation, cooking techniques, safe hygiene practices and work expectation in this vocation. This course is the pathway into other formal qualifications such as Food Handling and Catering Course. Generic employability skills including the language, literacy and numeracy required for this industry will also be blended throughout the course

OBTAIN YOUR LEARNERS PERMIT Overview This course is designed to assist students to obtain their 'L' Plates, helping to strengthen their literacy and comprehension skills required to build confidence in students to enable them to sit the VicRoads Learners Permit test online. During the course the students will have the opportunity to learn the VicRoads rules and how to navigate and comprehend online practice tests. Help will be provided to link students into their local council's L2P Learner Driver Initiative to allow them to gain driving experience once they have obtained their Learners Permit.

WORKING IN A CAR YARD Overview This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn specific skills relating to working in businesses that employee car detailers as well as generic employability skills. Delivery of this course is workplace based learning, giving the students the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills they have learned in a real work situation in a number of different role and environments. Generic employability skills including the language, literacy and numeracy required for this industry will also be blended throughout the course

SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE Overview Students will develop awareness, understanding and skills to be safe in a range of workplaces. An understanding of health and safety hazards, risks, procedures, legislation and application in difference types of industries.

WORKING WITH HORSES Overview This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn specific skills related to working in the horse industry setting, as well as generic employability skills. Delivery of this course will be workplace based learning, giving the students the opportunity to apply to the learning and skills they have learned in a real work environment at a property in Tuerong and Mornington.

GETTING A JOB Overview Students will learn how to create resumes in different formats, identify and learn about avenues to find jobs, research skills, interview skills, zoom and face to face interviewing, references, employment documents etc.

Delivery of this course will be in a workplace, giving the students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills that they learn in a real work situation. WORK SKILLS Overview This course is for people that would like to experience many work options in different vocations. The students will focus on learning what skills they need for each job, they will interview people, build their confidence and develop travel skills in and around Melbourne. This course is a combination of hands on and classroom based learning, providing many opportunities to learn employability skills.

INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS Overview This course will allow the students to gain confidence with how to use a computer and the associated skills (typing, mouse control, printing etc) as well as MS Word, Excel, Email, PowerPoint and the internet in a fun way.

WORKING AS A VOLUNTEER Overview This course will explore and develop the skills and knowledge required for students to become active volunteers in their community. This includes a work based learning approach at a warehouse in Seaford where students will learn different roles and tasks as well as employability skills needed to be a volunteer.
