GOVERNMENT THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY By Richard Matz Publisher
Today’s Socialistic Politicians want to control every aspect of our lives . By giving free money ( for 1 year ) to anyone who applies for it they then control you and your future . By mandating Who, What and When we must wear masks they’ve taken over our health system. The American free enterprise system has been one of the greatest engines for prosperity and liberty in history, and has the potential to deliver a promising future for the United States and the world. Through protecting property rights and fostering healthy competition, democratic capitalism rewards work and ingenuity which improves our lives and has liberated more people from poverty than any other system. Recent decades have seen a decline in economic growth and innovation, and one important cause is poorly-designed government policies. Large swaths of the American economy are distorted by government mandates and incentives, and the vast majority of binding “laws” are not enacted by our elected representatives in Congress, but are pushed by agencies as regulations. Sensible, evidence-based regulations that respect the fundamental role of freemarket competition can provide vital public benefits – such as protecting the environment, public health and safety, civil rights, consumers, and investors. Yet, despite the best intentions, government regulation too often disrupts the marketplace or picks winners and losers among companies or technologies. When regulators behave this way, they invariably cause intended or unintended harms. Poorly designed regulations may cause more harm than good; stifle innovation, growth, and job creation; waste limited resources; undermine www.militarypress.com
sustainable development; inadvertently harm the people they are supposed to protect; and erode the public’s confidence in our government. The well-connected—those who can hire lobbyists and know the right people in Washington—can gain at the expense of ordinary citizens. For example, large, established interest groups, such as large companies and trade associations, environmental groups, trial lawyers, unions, and state, local, and tribal governments, generally have much better access to legislators and regulatory officials, and can influence how regulations are designed and enforced. The Lobbyist often have Washington offices dedicated to ensuring their interests are reflected in regulations. This can disadvantage everyone else—ordinary consumers, taxpayers, workers, small businesses, the middle class, and the poor. Regulatory programs are sometimes captured by businesses and other “interest groups,” who use them to promote their own end—such as restricting competition and suppressing innovation from new firms and business methods, or advancing their market power or political agendas. And even where regulations are well intended, they can produce unintended negative consequences. For example, drug regulation may delay the introduction of new, life-saving pharmaceuticals. Energy producing coal that lowers the cost of producing consumer products and eliminating fracking that produces lower fuel prices. Because regulatory impacts are diffuse and hard to measure, no estimates of the actual costs of regulation are completely reliable, but some researchers peg the total annual cost at more than $2 trillion per year . Other research suggests the drag on economic growth could be twice that much, about $4 trillion per year, or $13,000 for every man, woman, and child in the United States. And we will never know the other costs, such as the value of jobs never created, factories never built, medicines never discovered, or entrepreneurial ideas never realized. The United States is more bitterly divided politically than it has been for decades. If our present politicians can focus on promoting public goods and preventing public bads, rather than serving as a forum for special interests and partisanship, the regulatory system can address the needs we have in common rather than divide us. It also can address widespread social discontent and “Stop “ pitting all the races against one and other as a diversion so they can continue pushing Socialist ( Government take Over ) policies ! SPORTS NEWS
The Endzone: Pro Football Focus (PFF) recently ranked the top 32 players at each position heading into the 2021 season. Six Chargers were named on offense, with newly acquired free agent center Corey Linsley earning the highest ranking (No. 2) amongst his teammates who also made the list.
Chargers Report: Season Preview — Offense
Brandon Staley – New Head Coach
By Art Garcia (jr) Following a disappointing 2020 season where the team finished 7-9, the Chargers fired Anthony Lynn and hired former Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley to take over the head coaching duties. What Staley inherits is a talented team that despite losing seven one-score games, managed to finish last season on a four-game win streak behind 2020 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Justin Herbert at quarterback. With Staley assuming the defensive calls, new offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi will be calling the plays and is expected to build the offensive attack around Herbert’s skill set to give the young quarterback the best opportunities to win. The plan is for the new scheme to resemble the New Orleans Saints’ offense where Lombardi spent 12 seasons on Sean Payton’s coaching staff — one of the most successful in the NFL over the past decade. Similar to the Saints under Payton, the Chargers have the skill players surrounding Herbert to improve upon the recordsetting numbers he set in his rookie campaign. Last season the offense finished the season ranked 9th overall in total offense (5th in AFC), 18th in rushing (9th), 6th in passing (4th) and tied for 18th in scoring (T-10th). With the healthy return of running back Austin Ekeler joining a wide receiver core with Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Jalen Guyton and Tyrone Johnson, those offensive numbers should improve if Herbert remains upright. Although the loss of Hunter Henry (Patriots) hurts the blocking
scheme from the tight end position, the signing of veteran Jared Cook keeps the position as a viable threat in the passing game.
Ben Linsey (PFF): “Linsley, like (Rodney) Hudson, will be taking his talents to a new offensive line in 2021. He stood out as one of the best offensive linemen available in free agency, coming off the highest PFF grade of his career and a firstteam All-Pro nod this past season with Green Bay. Since entering the league in 2014, he’s graded out in the 80th percentile or higher in pass-blocking grade on true pass sets and zone runblocking grade. Linsley is a cornerstone piece in the Chargers’ offensive line overhaul this offseason.” Other Chargers making the list offensively were QB Herbert (15th), RB Ekeler (11th), WR Allen (20th), TE Cook (16th) and OG Feiler (32nd).
The key to a successful 2021 season will be ability to keep Herbert healthy. Ranked as one of the league’s worst offensive lines last season, General Manager Tom Telesco upgraded the line through free agency and the draft. With right tackle Bryan Bulaga the only returning starter, Telesco signed veteran center Corey Linsley (Packers) and offensive guards Matt Feiler (Steelers) and Oday Abouschi (Lions) to solidify the middle of the offensive line. To polish-off his rebuild up front, Telesco selected Northwestern’s left tackle Rashawn
Slater in the first round of the draft. Known as a tough, powerful run blocker and more of a technician in pass protection, many scouts regarded Slater the top left tackle in the draft despite being under sized for the position. One player who can push for significant playing time is wide receiver Joshua Palmer. A thirdround pick out of Tennessee, the 6-1, 210-pound

The size of that chance varies depending on age, but it averages out to about 13 percent. When you flip a coin, physics, not probability, determines how it will land. A coin is slightly more likely to land on the face that was up when you flipped it. The way a coin lands is not “random”; it’s easy, with a little practice, to manipulate your coin flip so that it lands the way you want it. What’s more, if you’re spinning a coin, it’s more likely to land tails up, since the heads side weighs slightly more.

Money isn’t really made of paper
When people say a royal flush is lucky, they aren’t kidding! Odds of getting a straight flush are slightly better, at 72,192 to one.
The chance of a coin landing heads-up is not 50-50
People with blue eyes tend to have a higher tolerance for alcohol and can drink more before they begin to feel the effects, according to a Georgia State University study. The flip side of this bit of random trivia? It also means that blue-eyed people are more likely to become dependent on alcohol. Researchers discovered a significant link between the genes that determine eye color and the genes that impact addictive habits.

This is because a “berry” is technically a fruit with three distinct layers—a thick outer one; a middle one containing most of the edible fruit; and an inner one that contains the seeds. How many centenarians are there?
Though the English language has adopted it to mean “a short amount of time,” it actually is a scientific term. In the physics world, a “jiffy”
is the time it takes light to travel a centimeter in a vacuum or around 33.4 picoseconds. (A “picosecond,” meanwhile, is a trillionth of a second.)
“Forty” is the only number whose letters are in alphabetical order
Not the most useful, sure, but it’s sure fun to think about! Try it with any other number. Any at all. Living to 100 years old is quite the feat yet more and more people are achieving that major milestone. There are about 450,000 centenarians in the world, with the largest population—72,000—living in the United States, according to the Centenarian. How, exactly, they do it remains somewhat of a mystery. But one thing they all seem to have in common is a sharp sense of humor and a joyful optimism.

Amish Boy A fifteen year old Amish boy and his father were in a mall. They were amazed by almost everything they saw, but especially by two shiny, silver walls that could move apart and then slide back together again. The boy asked, “What is this, Father?” The father, never having seen an elevator, responded, “Son, I have never seen anything like this in my life, I don’t know what it is.” While the boy and his father were watching with amazement, a fat old lady in a wheel chair moved up to the moving walls and pressed a button. The walls opened, and the lady rolled between them into a small room. The walls closed and the boy and his father watched the small numbers above the walls light up sequentially. Finally the walls opened up again and a gorgeous 24-yearold blonde stepped out. The father, not taking his eyes off the young woman, said quietly to his son,”Son, go get your Mother.”
A Russian Spy
A Russian spy under the alias of “Joe Smith” is arrested by American officials. He is put in an interrogation room and confronted by an official, Agent Perry. Smith: “I don’t understand, why am I being interrogated?” Perry: “Drop the act, Smith, if that even is your real name. We know you’re a foreign spy!” Smith: “WHAT? No! I’m a real American, I can name all 46 Presidents of the United States, in order, with the dates of their inaugurations and their Vice Presidents.” Perry: “We still know you’re a spy!” Smith: “You’re all wrong! I can name all fifty states, US territories, and all their capitals!” Perry: “We still know you’re a spy!” Smith: “Wait… I know every word of the national anthem, the pledge of allegiance, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights!” Perry: “We still know you’re a spy!” Smith: “Ok, I submit, I’m a Russian spy under a fake name. But… how could you tell?” Perry: “Because Americans don’t know any of those things.”
Alligator Boots Sam and Bessie are senior citizens, and, Sam always wanted an expensive pair of alligator boots. Seeing some on sale one day, he buys a pair and wears them home, asking Bessie, “So, do you notice anything different about me?” “What’s different? It’s the same shirt you wore yesterday and the same pants. What’s different?” Frustrated, Sam goes into the bathroom, undresses and comes out completely naked, wearing only his new boots. Again, he says, “Bessie, do you notice anything different about me?” “What’s different, Sam? It’s hanging down today, it was hanging down yesterday and will be hanging down tomorrow.” Angrily, Sam yells, “DO YOU KNOW WHY ITS HANGING DOWN? Cause it’s lookin’ at my NEW BOOTS!”

Montana Grizzly Bear In light of the rising frequency of human/ grizzly bear conflicts, the Montana Department of Fish and Game is advising hikers, hunters, and fishermen to take extra precautions and keep alert for bears while in the field. We advise that outdoorsmen wear noisy little bells on their clothing so as not to startle bears that aren’t expecting them. We also advise outdoorsmen to carry pepper spray with them in case of an encounter with a bear. It is also a good idea to watch out for fresh signs of bear activity. Outdoorsmen should recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear droppings. Black bear droppings are smaller and contain lots of berries and squirrel fur. Grizzly bear droppings are larger, have little bells in them and smell like pepper.
Presidents In a transatlantic flight, a plane passes through a severe storm. The turbulence is awful, and things go from bad to worse when one wing is struck by lightning. One woman in particular loses it. Screaming, she stands up in the front of the plane. “I’m too young to die!” she wails. Then she yells, “Well, if I’m going to die, I want my last minutes on Earth to be memorable! I’ve had plenty of sex in my life, but no one has ever made me really feel like a woman! Well, I’ve had it! Is there ANYONE on this plane who can make me feel like a WOMAN??” For a moment there is silence. Everyone has forgotten their own peril, and they all stare, riveted, at the desperate woman in the front of the plane. Then, a man stands up in the rear of the plane. “I can make you feel like a woman,” he says. He’s gorgeous. Tall, built, with long, flowing black hair and jet black eyes, he starts to walk slowly up the aisle, unbuttoning his shirt one button at a time. No one moves. The woman is breathing heavily in anticipation as the stranger approaches. He removes his shirt. Muscles ripple across his chest as he reaches her, and extends the arm holding his shirt to the trembling woman, and whispers: “Iron this.”
