He began training at New World School of the Arts and received a BFA from Syracuse University. While living in New York City he worked as the assistant choreographer to Lorin Lotarro for the Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night. Lorin Lotarro is the original choreographer of the Broadway production of Waitress.
RYAN WASHINGTON (Ensemble, u/s Cal, u/s Joe) is ecstatic to be joining the Waitress Tour!. He has worked with Shakespeare in the Park’s productions of Twelfth Night and As You Like It. He is grateful to Christ, family and friends for this journey. JESSIE NELSON (Book) waitressed for 10 years before writing, directing and producing Corrina, Corrina and I Am Sam. She directed “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Her writing credits include Stepmom, The Story of Us and the children’s book Labracadabra. She co-wrote the musical Alice by Heart with Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, worked with Mabou Mines and was Artistic Director of the Sundance Writers Lab. Jessie is honoring Adrienne Shelly’s legacy by bringing her beautiful work to the stage.

NADIA DiGIALLONARDO (Original Music Supervision & Arrangements) worked with Diane Paulus on the Broadway revivals of Hair and Pippin, and has been part of the Waitress team from the start. Nadia and her sisters have been frequent guests on “A Prairie Home Companion” and can be heard on their CD, Shout, Sister, Shout!, as well as Sara Bareilles’s What’s Inside: Songs from Waitress. Nadia graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Vassar with a degree in urban planning.
ADRIENNE SHELLY (Film). We celebrate Adrienne Shelly as the writer of the 2007 film Waitress. An actor (Trust) and director (Waitress, I’ll Take You There, Sudden Manhattan) for almost 20 years, she conceived the film while pregnant with her daughter Sophie (Lulu in the film), for whom she wrote it as a “love letter” in just two weeks. SARA BAREILLES AND THE WAITRESS BAND (Orchestrations). Sara Bareilles, Nadia DiGiallonardo, Rich Mercurio, Lee Nadel, Yair Evnine, Rich Hinman and Jamie Edwards. With Sara Bareilles, the band engaged in a deeply collaborative process to create the arrangements for the Waitress score. A group that includes singers, multi-insmentalists, writers and producers from all different corners of the pop and theater world, they’ve each contributed their own unique ingredients to the pie.
JOHN MEZZIO (Music Coordinator) has conducted national tours including State Fair starring John Davidson, Victor Victoria starring Toni Tennille, and Cinderella starring Eartha Kitt and Deborah Gibson. Additionally, Mr. Mezzio was Associate Conductor for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express at the Las Vegas Hilton. John was Music Coordinator for national and international tours including Sweet Charity starring Molly Ringwald, Hairspray, Spring Awakening, Memphis, Beauty and the Beast, and Elf The Musical.
SCOTT PASK (Scenic Design) has designed over 50 Broadway shows, receiving three Tony Awards for The Book of Mormon, The Coast of Utopia and The Pillowman. Cirque du Soleil’s Amaluna, Met Opera’s Peter Grimes. He has received Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Lortel, BroadwayWorld, Bessie, Hewes and Garland awards. BArch & Honorary Doctorate from the University of Arizona, MFA Yale School of Drama.
ALYSSA KAY THOMPSON (Music Director) is thrilled to be joining the Waitress family to help tell this story of love and empowerment! A New York based music director, pianist, and conductor, Alyssa was the first female graduate of Baldwin Wallace Conservatory’s Music Direction program. Located on the campus of Boise State University, the 2,037seat Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts is Idaho’s premier performing arts center. Nestled on the banks of the Boise River, with a panoramic view of the city, park and foothills, the Center’s 10-story stage house is a recognizable fixture of the Capitol’s picturesque skyline. The realization of a life-long dream of Harry W. Morrison, and championed by his widow, Velma, the Center opened its doors on April 7, 1984. Today the Center is recognized as a major destination for arts and culture, annually hosting hundreds of live entertainment and arts education offerings that serve to enrich the lives of patrons of all ages.
