hank you for joining us for Monty Python’s Spamalot at the Grand Theatre. This smash hit musical, and winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical, lovingly spoofs the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table on their quest for the Holy Grail. Featuring a chorus line of dancing divas, rude Frenchmen, killer rabbits, and more, you’re sure to be laughing from the moment this show begins.

SLCC and the Grand Theatre are proud to serve as the community’s home for theatre, musical and dance performances, compelling lectures, engaging screenings, and culturally-rich offerings. he Grand Theatre, housed in the Center for Arts and Media, continues its proud tradition of quality theatre with a season of engaging performances. A community treasure, The Grand provides outstanding quality productions at a reasonable price and engages our community’s premier talent; professional, semi-professional, amateur and students who are all dedicated to experiencing and providing you with exceptional theatrical events.

Shows at The Grand are just a few of the many artistic and cultural events you’ll find at the Center for Arts and Media. Our talented students participate in a wide variety of fantastic offerings, including concerts and performances by our band, choir, and dance ensembles, engrossing visual art shows, screenings of thought-provoking films and documentaries, and powerful productions in our Black Box Theatre. We’re thrilled to return as the largest Salt Lake City venue for the annual Sundance Film Festival, where you can join fellow film lovers to appreciate the very best cinema from around the world. At the Center, you’ll also find professional exhibits by SLCC faculty, students and local artists in our Eccles Art Gallery, free screenings and discussions with our professors on classic films and stimulating lectures and presentations. elcome to the Grand Theatre’s production of Monty Python’s Spamalot! Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical, this hysterical show is a blast whether or not you are familiar with the 1975 film. Following the Arthurian legend, King Arthur and his Knights of the Very, Very, Very Round Table set out on a quest for the Holy Grail. On their journey the knights encounter strange places and even stranger characters. Be prepared to embrace the ridiculous and be laughing in your seat as you’re taken on this medieval adventure. ovingly ripped off from’ the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot has been delighting audiences around the world for nearly twenty years. It follows the legendary tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table on their quest for the Holy Grail. Spamalot doesn’t just bring to the stage the very best and most loved parts of the original film. In true Python style, it expertly lampoons Broadway shows, while at the same time winning the 2005 Tony Award for best musical. Louise walked the aisle and stopped and patted his head. He smiled so big. He tapped his foot and loved the show. A month later he passed away. I treasure this memory.” – Connie “Being in shows here! WHO’S WHO in the CAST BREEZY BASSETT (Historian, Laker Girl) last appeared on the Grand Theatre stage as Soupy-Sue in Urinetown and is delighted to be back working on another smart and witty show with an amazingly talented cast and crew. She has performed in shows across the Salt Lake Valley, St. George and Idaho. Her favorite roles include Tracy Turnblad (Hairspray), Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Shelby (Spitfire Grill), and Alison Boodalay (Bingo! The Winning Musical). SCOTT BUTLER (Patsy) has been seen across the valley performing in various roles and was last seen as a featured dancer in Bach’s Passion of the Christ according to St. Matthew. Some favorite roles include Fagin - Oliver!, Lt. Frank Cioffi – Curtains, and Simon Stride - Jekyll and Hyde. Scott has performed with Salt Lake Choral Artists, Centerpoint Legacy, Off Broadway, Hale Center, The Empress, West Jordan and Sandy Theater Arts. Scott is thrilled to be back at the Grand and was last seen here as the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz in 2011. JAIDEN CASTLETON (Guard, Bors) is currently pursuing a BFA at Westminster College. This is his first production at the Grand. Other credits include Jim/ Tom/Kenneth (Clybourne Park), Thurio (Two Gentleman of Verona), and Schmidt (Spring Awakening) on the Westminster College stage; Demi (Alone with Char) and Owen (1222 Randall Ave.) with the TwoFifteen Project; and Hyllus (Women of Trachis, 2018) with the Classical Greek Theatre Festival. COURTNEY COHEN (Laker Girl, Sir Not) is ecstatic to make her Utah theatre debut here at The Grand! Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, she is a rising junior in the Musical Theatre Program at the University of Utah. Previous credits include: Pippin (Berthe), Richard III (Tyrrell), Tarzan (Mother), and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged). Also a director, Cohen has been a part of directing teams at various theatres in Seattle including ArtsWest Playhouse and Village Theatre KIDSTAGE. Upcoming: Men on Boats at the U of U. OLIVIA CUSTODIO (Lady of the Lake) is so happy to return to the Grand after appearing as The Spirit of Time in Perdida. She has performed with Salt Lake Acting Company, Plan B, Sackerson, Riot Act, and the University of Utah. Olivia received her BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and her MM from the University of Utah. SEAN J. CARTER (Guard) is ecstatic to return to The Grand! His most favorite Grand credits include Papa Ge in Once on this Island, Willie Johnson in Miss Evers’

Boys and Hermes in Xanadu: The Musical. He was most recently seen in Hale Centre Theatre’s production of Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida, and has also performed at Salt Lake Acting Company and The Egyptian Theatre (Park City). Sean is the Executive Secretary for the School of Dance at the U and also works part-time as a Patron Services Agent at HCT. TREVOR B. DEAN (Lancelot) is excited to be back and was last seen on our stage playing Jamie - The Last Five Years, as well as Igor - Mel Brooks: Young Frankenstein, and Seymour - Little Shop of Horrors. Some of his other favorite roles include Jimmy Smith - Thoroughly Modern Millie, Scuttle - Disney’s Little Mermaid, LeFou - Beauty and the Beast, and Prentice - Peter and the Starcatcher. Trevor attended the Musical Theatre program at Weber State University and has performed with several different venues across the Rocky Mt. Region. DAVID HANSON (Arthur) returns to The Grand after having appeared in Hairspray, Young Frankenstein, Little Shop of Horrors, La Cage aux Folles, Not the Messiah, Death of a Salesman and The Crucible, among others. Elsewhere, he has recently played such roles as Richard in Pinnacle Theater Company’s production of The Lion in Winter, as Sweeney Todd with ARTE and MJ Productions, and Husband in Wasatch Theater Company’s Stage Kiss. David has recently directed Fame, The 39 Steps, The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 and The Last 5 Years. CAMERON HOLZMAN (Prince Herbert, Dance Captain) is a sophomore in the MTP at the University of Utah. He’s a scholarship recipient and has also appeared in the musicals Steel Pier and The Beautiful Game. Most recently he has made his PTC debut in Twelfth Night and has been cast as Anatoly in the U’s production of Chess this coming fall. TRISTAN B. JOHNSON (Knight of Ni) is a junior at Westminster College pursuing a BFA in Theatre Performance. You may have previously seen him on The Grand stage as Seaweed J. Stubbs (Hairspray) and The Debt Collector (A Streetcar Named Desire). Other credits include Anthony (I and You), Albert/Kevin (Clybourne Park), Alan Draft (Bellwether), Kevin (Stage Kiss), and Black Caesar/Tench/The Aboriginal (Our Country’s Good). Future credits include Miguel (American Idiot). CARSON KOHLER (Tim) is excited to be returning to The Grand. Her most recent performing credits include: Mrs. Corry - Marry Poppins (CPT), Jolene Oaks - Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Empress), Morticia Addams - The Addams Family (CPT) and Rosalia - West Side Story. Choreography credits include: Once On this Island, Broadway Review, Cymbeline, and Dancers Against Cancer. JON SCOTT (Puppeteer, Ensemble) is glad to be back with the Grand Theatre in one of his favorite shows. He was most recently in our production of The Full Monty playing Ethan Girard. Some of his other productions include Seussical the Musical, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Anything Goes, and Pride and Prejudice. In his spare time, Jon likes to practice aerobatics including trapeze, teeterboard, and trampoline wall. STEPHEN SHERMAN (Bedevere, Mrs. Galahad, Concorde) is honored to be back at The Grand, having performed in this beautiful theatre in the past as Mr. Lipari in A View from the Bridge, Harold in The Full Monty and Wilbur in Hairspray. Last summer, Stephen performed the role of Kevin Rosario in the Good Company Theater’s production of In the Heights. Stephen performed regularly as a young adult, took a long break to focus on his business career and only recently returned to the arts appearing on stage and in commercials. MICHELLE LYNN THOMPSON (Minstrel, Laker Girl) was last seen at The Grand as Nikki Crandall in The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940. JAKE TRUMBO (Galahad, Black Knight) has now returned to The Grand for something completely different. Previous roles at this theater include Spider (Jekyll & Hyde) and Reg/Tony (The Full Monty). Most recently, he appeared as the Revolutionary in Marie Antionette at Good Company Theater in Ogden, Utah. A graduate of Weber State University, Jake has spent the last 16 years acting in a variety of lead and supporting roles on stage, screen, and behind the microphone. AMY WARE (Not Dead Fred, Laker Girl, Dance Captain) is excited and honored to be back at The Grand for this hilarious show. WHO'S WHO ON THE CREATIVE STAFF ERIC IDLE (Book, lyrics, and music) has multihyphenated his way through life, from being a writer and actor in the legendOry “Monty Python” TV series and movies, to the creator and director of “The Rutles.” He has appeared on stage singing rude songs with John Du Prez at Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl as well as performing in two highly successful tours, Eric Idle Exploits Monty Python (2000) and The Greedy Bastard Tour (2003), for which they journeyed 15,000 miles across North America in a bus. His Greedy Bastard Diary of that tour is available from Harper Collins. Their latest work, a comic oratorio called Not the Messiah, will be performed shortly in Toronto. His play Pass the Butler ran for five months in London’s West End; he has written two novels, Hello Sailor and The Road to Mars, a children’s book, The Quite Remarkable Adventures of the Owl and The Pussycat, and a bedside companion, The Rutland Dirty Weekend Book Spamalot has already won him a Tony, a Grammy and the respect of his wife and children. JOHN DU PREZ (Music) a Trevelyan Scholar at Christ Church, Oxford, and Associate of the Royal College of Music, he entered the film industry in 1978 composing additional music for Monty Python’s Life of Brian. This began a long association with Eric Idle, leading eventually to their current writing partnership. He has scored more than 20 feature films including The Meaning of Life, A

Is he God or Godot, an agent of the devil or an agent of the William Morris Agency, or is he, as some have argued, a fictitious character invented in 1969 by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin in a desperate attempt to find a title for their rather silly TV show? Since graduating, he has taught and directed in various Drama Schools, Universities and Theatres in both the UK and the US. KIM BLACKETT (Props Master) was last seen on stage at The Grand in The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940’s. Other shows at The Grand include: Hairspray, Little Shop of Horrors, Xanadu, and Urinetown. A former artist for Walt Disney Studios, Mr. Blackett is happy to be sharing his artistic abilities in building some of the most bizarre props of his career for Spamalot. CAROLINE CAIN (Stage Manager) is a graduate of the University of Utah with her BFA in Stage Management. Caroline has worked for the Grand Theatre since 2008 and during that time has stage managed The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, Hairspray, Comedy of Errors, Jekyll and Hyde, The Full Monty, Young Frankenstein, Always Patsy Cline, Skin of Our Teeth, Forever Plaid, Rings, Not the Messiah, and Heat; production stage managed Our

Town. Other credits include Plan-B Theatre’s Script in Hand Series (2018), The Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival (2016), Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike (Wasatch Theatre Company), The Children’s Hour (U of U Babcock), and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Salt Lake Shakespeare). ADAM DAY (Sound Design) has a BFA in Performing Arts Design from the U of U. Some of his recent credits include sound design for Hairspray, A Streetcar Named Desire, Jekyll & Hyde, Young Frankenstein, and Little Shop of Horrors (The Grand Theatre); Steel Pier, Bring It On, American Idiot (U of U Theatre Department); Climbing With Tigers (SLAC); Lost in the Woods (Flying Bobcat Theatrical Laboratory); and Exodus (NOW-ID). He also works as the Technical Coordinator at the Draper City Amphitheater where he has been for the last eight seasons. LINDSEA GARSIDE (Hair & Make-up Design) is excited to be back at the Grand. She loves the design aspects of theater just as much as the performing. She has designed wigs for Centerpoint Legacy Theater, Good Company Theater, and several high schools and community theaters in the Northern Utah area. She feels incredibly lucky to do what she loves every single day. MICHAEL J. HOREJSI (Lighting Design) is an Assistant Professor in the Performing Arts Design Program in the Department of Theatre at The University of Utah, where he teaches Lighting Design, Video & Multi Media Design, and Drawing & Rendering. He has an MFA in Design and Technical Theatre from The University of Minnesota. Michael has extensive national and international touring experience with arena and theater shows, as well as sporting spectaculars such as The NBA All Star Jam Session, and The USA Swimming Olympic Trials. Michael has worked as a technician and designer for theatres including: Oregon Festival of American Music, The Guthrie Theatre, The Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, American Players Theatre, The Great American History Theatre, and others. SAMMEE LYDIA JAMES (Asst. Stage Manager) has been experiencing the Salt Lake Valley for over two years now after living in NYC stage managing various new works for Red Fern Theatre Company, Rabbithole Ensemble and Less Than Rent. She graduated with a Bachelors in Theatre from Idaho State University. She has recently worked with the Salt Lake Acting Company, Ziegfeld Theater and Good Company. She is very excited to be back at the Grand for this brilliant production!

Monty Python's Spamalot

WHO’S WHO on the CREATIVE STAFF MICHAEL G. LEAVITT (Music Director) is returning to the Grand Theater for his second time as Music Director; the first was Perdida. Michael has performed all over the world as an accompanist, solo pianist, and conductor. Mr. Leavitt recently composed a one-act operatic setting of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol which was debuted by the University of Utah Lyric Opera Ensemble. For the past 3 years he has served as musical director for Salt Lake Acting Company’s Saturday’s Voyeur, which is in its 40th year. This summer he will be traveling to China for the Beijing Choral Festival with the University of Utah’s Chamber Choir as the accompanist for Dr. Barlow Bradford. Michael is currently working on a master of music degree in collaborative piano at the University of Utah, under the direction of Jeffrey Price. FRIDA MOSES (Choreographer) is excited for her second production working with the Grand Theatre and its people after working on Perdida. She also works as a Salsa/Bachata dance instructor at DF Dance Studio and choreographs for teams and competition. Growing up, she has always had a passion for dance and has enjoyed learning and teaching a variety of styles including Tahitian, Argentine Tango, Rumba, Samba, belly dance, Country Swing, Hip Hop, and other Latin styles DIANNE MCCULLOCK (Asst. Costume Design) is happy to be assisting for The Grand Theatre! Dianne grew up in Brigham City, Utah and attended Brigham Young University. While attending BYU she was employed at the costume shop where she constructed costumes for student productions. She recently retired from a 20-year career sewing wedding dresses for Gowns by Pamela. She has been an assistant designer for the following productions: Hairspray (The Grand), the Classical Greek Theater Festival’s Ion, and Perdida (The Grand). She has also constructed costumes for the Wizard of Oz (BYU Main Stage), and The Tempest (BYU Main Stage). ERIN MCCULLOCK (Asst. Costume Design) is elated to be working on Spamalot. Erin is a passionate crafter crocheting, knitting, sewing, and painting in her spare time. Her recent assistant work for the Grand includes Perdida where she hand-painted most of the Día de los Muertos masks. Erin has a passion for theater which can be seen in the dedication of her art. She looks forward to working on more productions in the future. SHANNON MCCULLOCK (Costume Design) is extremely excited to be designing for the Grand! A Utah native, Shannon graduated from the U of U Performing

Arts Design Program with Costuming Emphasis in 2010. Her recent designs for the Grand Theater include: Perdida, Hairspray, and A Streetcar Named Desire. She has also done costume design and construction work for the following: the Classical Greek Theater Festival, Westminster College Opera Studio, the University of Utah’s Babcock Theatre, Studio 115, and the Utah Museum of Natural History. MÁIRE NELLIGAN (Properties Design) received a BFA in theatre from Marietta College before attending graduate school at AU. She worked as a techie, a designer, an actor, and a director in the Midwest and Southwest before moving to Salt Lake. Máire debuted as the Grand's Properties Master with Man of La Mancha. While her favorite show tends to be whichever she is currently working on, Miss Evers’ Boys and The Wizard of Oz are particularly memorable; and dressing La Cage aux Folle may well go down as the most fun ever. HALEE RASMUSSEN (Set Design) received her BFA from the University of Utah’s Performing Arts and Design Program with a double emphasis in technical direction and set design. She is currently entering her fifth year as the Assistant Technical Director and Scenic Charge Artist for the UofU Department of Theatre, and her seventh year as resident set designer for The Grand Theatre. Other design credits include Utah Lyric Opera, Salt Lake Shakespeare Company, Alligator Press Productions, Lagoon Entertainment, and the University of Utah; with assistant design credits from Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Great Lakes Theatre Company, and Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival. MANDI TITCOMB (Asst. Director) is excited to be returning to The Grand after appearing in last season's Comedy of Errors as Luciana. Directing credits include As You Like It, The Merry Wives of Windsor (SuchStuff Productions) and The Proposal (Westminster Players). Assistant directing includes The Light in the Piazza (Westminster Opera Studio). She holds a BFA in Theatre Performance from Westminster College. LIZ YOUNG (Asst. Director) is a theatre professional and aspiring director. PATRON INFORMATION AUDIO ENHANCEMENT EQUIPMENT is available for theatre patrons who are hearingimpaired. The concession stand has Comtex wireless personal receivers which allow a patron to sit anywhere in the theatre and receive high fidelity audio. Because there is no charge for this service, you will be requested to leave your driverâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s license with the cashier until the equipment is returned. BABIES AND SMALL CHILDREN often make it uncomfortable for other theatre patrons. Therefore, no children under 5 are allowed. Small children must have their own seat. DISABLED PATRONS may use wheelchair seating areas in the theatre. Each area can accommodate four wheelchair patrons and companion chairs. Ticket prices vary for each section. Aisle seats may be requested by patrons who can be assisted in the transfer from wheelchairs to theatre seats. BOX OFFICE HOURS are 12:00PM to 5:00PM Monday through Friday and 12:00PM to 8:00PM on the night of a performance, including Saturdays.

LATECOMERS will not be seated in their reserved seats until the end of a scene. Latecomers will be seated in available seating that will not disturb punctual theatre patrons. LOST AND FOUND will be held by the head usher until the end of the performance. Thereafter, please contact the Box Office at 801. 957.3322. All items, after a period of 24 hours, will be taken to Administrative Services in Room 1-060. They may be contacted at 801.957.3301. PHOTOGRAPHY, AUDIO OR VIDEO RECORDING of any performance or the possession of any such device inside this theatre without the written permission of management is prohibited. Offenders may be requested to leave and may be liable for damages and other lawful remedies. THEATRE PARKING is available at no charge in the parking areas on the East and North side of the building. Ticketing will occur when parked in the disabled parking areas without a proper pass. Please note that parking meters are still active during performances.
