Bio Gretchen A. Case (Reader) is an Associate Professor in the Division of Medical Ethics and Humanities at the University of Utah School of Medicine, where she teaches arts and humanities to students, residents, physicians, and other health care providers. Dr. Case is the playwright and performer of several published works related to medicine and oral history, including Tic(k) and Hx. She earned a PhD in Performance Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and received her bachelors and masters degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Case has taught performance studies, theatre, writing, and medical/health humanities at UNC-Chapel Hill, UC-Berkeley, Florida State University, Northwestern University, Duke University, and the University of Utah. Nico Cheek-O’Donnell (Frank Sweeney) is thrilled to be reading Molly Sweeney with Andra, Mark, Robin and Utah Presents. Nico was also involved in a number of readings at SLAC over the past decade, and he’s performed in a couple of mainstage shows there too (End Days and The Overwhelming). He has also worked with Pioneer Theater Company and Plan B. A graduate of Carleton College, Nico worked in Minnesota with the Children’s Theater Co., Theatre de la Juene Lune, Frank Theater and the Jungle Theater. In the Northwest, he performed with Seattle Shakespeare Co., Wooden O, Book-It Rep, Montana Shakespeare in the Parks and Seattle Children’s Theater. Nico is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Huntsman Cancer Hospital, the spouse of a U of U Theatre professor and the proud father of two lovable hellions. Sydney Cheek-O’Donnell (Dramaturg) is Associate Dean for Research in the College of Fine Arts and an Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre at the University of Utah. She has served as the dramaturg on more than 20 professional productions in Salt Lake City, Seattle, and Minneapolis. In addition, she works on the application of theatre in non-traditional places, like healthcare and STEM education. She teaches History of Theatre, Science on Stage, Dramaturgy, Directing, Theatre and Theory, and Gender on the Global Stage, and was head of Theatre Studies from 2005 to 2016. Dr. Cheek-O’Donnell earned a PhD in Theatre History and Dramatic Criticism from the University of Washington’s School of Drama in 2004, and received her undergraduate degree from Carleton College in Minnesota.

Bios Mark Fossen (Mr. Rice) is an adjunct instructor in the University of Utah Theatre Department, and has worked as an actor, director, dramaturg, and teacher in the Salt Lake area since 2005. His directing credits include work with the University of Utah, Westminster College, The Grand Theatre, Pinnacle Acting Company, Wasatch Theatre, PYGmalion, and Utah Rep. As an actor, he has been seen in many Plan-B Theatre shows, including Clearing Bombs, for which he won the 2014 City Weekly ARTY award for Best Theatre Performance. Other local acting credits include work with Sackerson, PYGmalion, Meat & Potato, and Salt Lake Shakespeare. National credits include work at the California and Idaho Shakespeare Festivals, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, San Francisco’s Thick Description, and Chicago’s legendary Steppenwolf. He is a graduate of the University of Utah’s Theatre Studies Program, and received his MFA at the University of Idaho in Theatre Studies with a concentration in Directing. Dancing At Lughnasa premiered at the Abbey Theatre, transferred to London’s West End, and then went on to Broadway, where it won three 1992 Tony Awards, including Best Play. The play has been performed around the world, including national tours in Ireland, England, and Australia. His plays have been performed extensively in Dublin at the Abbey, Gate, and Olympia theatres, and in many West End theatres in London. New York productions include Philadelphia, Here I Come! (Helen Hayes, 1965); The Loves Of Cass Mcguire (Helen Hayes, 1966); The Mundy Scheme (Royale, 1969); The Freedom Of The City (Alvin, 1974); Faith Healer (Longacre, 1979); Lovers (Lincoln Center, 1986); Aristocrats (MTC, 1989); Dancing At Lughnasa (Plymouth, 1991); Wonderful Tennessee (Plymouth, 1993); Philadelphia, Here I Come! (Roundabout, 1994), and Translations (Plymouth, 1995). In 1992 Faith Healer was revived by King’s Head Theatre, London, and transferred to the Wyndham in the West End; and A Month In The 8

Bios Country opened at the Gate Theatre in Dublin. Molly Sweeney opened at the Gate Theatre and transferred to the Almeida Theatre in London. Born in Omagh, County Tyrone, in Ireland in 1929, Mr. Friel began writing short stories for “The New Yorker” in 1959 and subsequently published two collections: “The Saucer of Larks” and “The Gold in the Sea.” His first radio plays were produced by the BBC, Belfast, in 1958. In 1989, BBC Radio devoted a six-play season to his work, the first living playwright to be so distinguished. He co-founded Field Day Theatre Company in Derry, Ireland, where Translations, The Communication Cord and Making History premiered. Alexandra Harbold (Molly Sweeney) is Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of Flying Bobcat Theatrical Laboratory and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Theatre at the University of Utah. Bios How Long Can You Stand on the Train Tracks: a game for two sisters (Flying Bobcat & Sackerson) ; acting in Hand to God (Salt Lake Acting Company) ; and dramaturging The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time and The Last Ship (Pioneer Theatre Company). Upcoming projects: co-directing Jump (Plan-B Theatre with Flying Bobcat Theatrical Laboratory and the David Fetzer Ross Foundation for Emerging Artists), and directing Macbeth and The Bottom (Pinnacle Acting Company). Sarah Shippobotham (Dialect Coach) is a Professor in Acting, Dialects and Voice at the University of Utah. Sarah trained as an actor at The Welsh College of Music and Drama in Wales before gaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Voice Studies from The Central School of Speech and Drama in London. Dialect and Voice coaching credits include seventeen seasons with the renowned Shaw Festival (Canada) and Pioneer Theatre Company where she has coached shows including The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time, Oliver, The Last Ship and One Man Two Guvnors. 2011/12 Sarah spent 7 months in New Zealand working as Additional Dialect Coach on The Hobbit films. Sarah has directed many shows for the U of U Theatre Department including: Arcadia, The Importance Of Being Earnest, Romeo & Juliet. Later this semester she directs Our Country’s Good about the humanizing power of theatre. Robin Wilks-Dunn (Director) most recently directed last year’s reading of Informed Consent for UtahPresents. Additional directing credits include numerous readings and productions at Salt Lake Acting Company, including David Kranes’ Loss Of Appetite, I’ll Eat You Last, Dottie: The Sister Lives On, Good People, and Boom, other Pygmalion and Grand Theatre shows include Remington and Weasel, Weyward Sisters, Good Body, Last Lists Of My Mad Mother, All My Sons, and Man Of La Mancha. She is pleased to have been part of SLAC’s playwrights’ lab and is also a reader for the Davey Foundation play competition at SLAC. She was formerly on the Board of Pygmalion Productions and was a script reader for Sundance Theatre Lab. Live Well!, a production she cowrote, has been touring schools for five years. As the Community Engagement Manager for UtahPresents she works to bring arts to children and the community.
