Odyssey Dance Theatre – 7
Director’s Note Dear Patron, Here we are celebrating our 21st anniversary season, and I can’t help but reflect on this amazing “Odyssey” we’ve been on and the incredible year we have had. Thriller was a huge hit again with two companies for the ninth year in a row and over 52 performances and our tenth year in a row winning Best of State Dance Company and second time winning all Arts & Entertainment. Something seems to be going right! We recently had our fifth annual competition/workshop at the Utah Valley Convention Center and next, we are off on our eleventh consecutive European tour--shows every night in a different city, for a wild three weeks; standing room only and standing ovations every night. The ReduxNut-Cracker, our updated version of the Christmas classic, was great fun to do and well received by our audiences in Salt Lake, Ogden and St. George, too, proving that we have found our own niche of Utah’s holiday entertainment market for years to come. And now we’ve brought back two audience favorites and added two more World Premieres! Please be sure to select Odyssey as your favorite charity on March 31, 2016, the fourth annual Love UT Give UT--the statewide day of giving event (loveutgiveut.razoo.com) and help Odyssey continue to bring world-class dance and entertainment to our community. Thank you for your support! Derryl
We wish to thank
Whose support helped make this production possible. THANK YOU!! As did its founders, the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation takes an active part in supporting Utah’s vibrant arts community, including the visual arts, music, dance, and creative expression of many kinds. The arts have been woven tightly into the fabric of the state since the earliest days of its Native American residents and pioneer settlers. Today, thanks to a continued emphasis on the arts among Utah’s citizenry, the state boasts world-class arts organizations that foster excellence and professionalism at the highest artistic levels. 8 – Shut Up & Dance 2016

Roxanne Hasegawa Roxanne was born and grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended Granite High School and was class Historian her senior year, after graduation she attended The University of Utah. Roxanne loved what she did, she started as an usher at the Salt Palace where her love of music, sports, events and people grew. She then had a 16-year career at KSL Television working in programming and news. For the past 14 years she worked at KTVX where she helped start and produced “Good Things Utah”; however, She never had just one thing going, she was involved as a publicist for numerous athletes, dancers and musicians and was instrumental with events like Comic-con. Helping people and charity was a major part of who Roxanne was, she connected people in the best way and is responsible for marriages, successful careers and lifelong friendships.
Recently we lost a dear friend and cheerleader for the entire Dance Community. Roxanne Hasegawa was a wonderful person who loved dancers and what they do and was a tireless promoter of the Utah dance scene. For years she has been a supporter of Odyssey and used her influence in the media to help us get the exposure and support that she felt we deserved. So it is with great respect and appreciation that we wish to dedicate this opening night and season to her. We wish her family and friends to know how much her advocacy meant to all of us, and her passing is truly a sad day for dancers all over Utah. Thanks, Rox! Save a spot for us dancers there in the sky! Derryl
