Welcome Dear Friends: Welcome to OSBA’s 2015–2016 season in the newly remodeled Browning Center! There’s nothing better than seeing one of these concerts or ballets LIVE. For 65 years we have presented these concerts in Ogden for northern Utah audiences. Thank you, thank you to the hundreds of people who have been instrumental in that longevity: the visionaries who saw the need beginning back in 1950; the faithful patrons; the donors who have contributed large and small amounts every year; and the volunteers who have given countless hours of service to OSBA. Look at all that is scheduled for this year: ♫ Utah Symphony Masterworks Series - four inspiring concerts ♫ Utah Symphony Entertainment Series - four diverse concerts sure to entertain ♫ Utah Symphony Family Series - entertainment for the entire family times three ♫ Ballet West - “The Nutcracker” with the entire troupe and “Beauty and the Beast” with Ballet West II dancers ♫ BYU Ballroom Dance Company is back by popular demand ♫ “5 Carols for Christmas and Jingle Jacks” written by Jim Christian and Ken Plain Just a reminder about OSBA: • We are a non-profit organization with a 501(c)(3) tax designation. • We contract with Utah Symphony | Utah Opera, Ballet West, and other groups and pay for their Ogden performances held at Weber State’s Browning Center. We do not receive proceeds of fund raising efforts held by any of those organizations. • Ticket revenue pays about 45% of the cost of the concerts. The balance comes from donations made by individuals, businesses, foundations, and city, state, and local governments, including the RAMP tax initiative. • Besides the concerts, OSBA also supports: Educational and community outreach programs Youth Guild for the Performing Arts “The Ride” for seniors living in Weber County Informal “Conversations” prior to the Classical Series concerts

Help us fill the house at every concert by inviting your neighbors, family, and friends to join you! We look forward to welcoming you to each and every concert. Sincerely, Ogden Symphony Ballet Association Board of Directors and Staff

Artists’ Profiles Melissa Errico is one of Broadway’s most cherished leading ladies, as well as a blossoming recording artist who has been called “the voice of enchantment” by The New York Times. She released her second studio CD Lullabies and Wildflowers on Mother’s Day 2008. This follows her debut CD Blue Like That (Capitol Records, EMI) produced by Arif Mardin, praised as “gorgeous” (The New York Times), and “earthy and soulful” (USA Today). Melissa was nominated for the Best Leading Actress Tony Award for her work in Michel Legrand’s Amour, and has been recognized with the Lucille Lortel Award, six Drama Desk nominations, two Helen Hayes Awards, four Outer Critics Award nominations and three Drama League Honors. In December of 2010, she received the “Artist of Distinction” Award from the Great Neck Arts Center, recognizing her as a Long Island native who has made her home town proud. Melissa Errico Soloist

Ms. Errico starred on Broadway as Betty Haynes (the Rosemary Clooney role) in Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, and then starred off-Broadway in the Shaw play Candida, for which she was nominated for a Best Actress 2010 Drama Desk Award. When only a teenager, Ms. Errico burst upon the Broadway scene as Cosette in Les Misérables, quickly followed by a star-turn as Kitty in Anna Karenina, and then, at age 22, to raves as Eliza Doolittle in the Broadway revival of My Fair Lady. Since then, she has starred in High Society, Amour, and Dracula on Broadway, and acclaimed off-Broadway plays like Major Barbara and The Importance of Being Earnest, as well as in television and film, including CBS’s Central Park West and the movies Frequency and Life Or Something Like It, opposite Angelina Jolie. Ms. Errico has appeared in Washington DC several times at The Kennedy Center where she starred as Dot/Marie in the acclaimed Sondheim Celebration’s Sunday in the Park with George, and as a soloist at the televised Kennedy Center Honors and twice with The National Symphony for “Salute To The Silver Screen with Marvin Hamlisch”, as well as in a brilliant Jerry Herman Tribute. Ms. Errico performs solo with her own band regularly at Birdland Jazz Club, and, since working with her musical idol, Oscar-winner Michel Legrand on Broadway, Errico has appeared with Legrand at such jazz clubs as Vibrato in Los Angeles, and New York City’s Oak Room at the Algonquin, the Carlyle, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Joe’s Pub.

Epic recording artist, Morgan James is not just a great soul singer…or a great R&B artist, or even a great jazz artist. The classically trained vocalist is malleable enough to encompass several genres, while displaying vocals reminiscent of Motown-era greats, all while making her mark on Broadway. At home on the classical, concert, and rock stages Morgan James is one of the country’s most sought-after singers. She is a versatile vocalist, easily maneuvering between genres. As a solo artist, she has played to sold-out crowds at popular New York nightspots such as Birdland, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Lincoln Center, Dominion, Joe’s Pub, Le Poisson Rouge, and Rockwood Music Hall. Her debut solo album Morgan James Live featuring the music of Nina Simone and her sophomore full-length studio album Hunter (in ital) are available on iTunes and Amazon. Morgan James Soloist

Ms. James’ Broadway credits include four original casts: Motown: The Musical, the Broadway revival of Godspell, Frank Wildhorn’s Wonderland and The Addams Family, starring Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth. Regional theatre credits include leading roles at Barrington Stage Company, Paper Mill Playhouse, The O’Neill Theatre Center, and Arizona Theatre Company. Morgan was a featured soloist in Bernstein’s Mass with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Marin Alsop) at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center, as well as appearances with the Detroit, San Diego, National, Utah, Youngstown, and Modesto Symphony orchestras. A veteran of commercials and voice-overs, in addition to her extensive theatre and concert career, she has participated in numerous workshops and readings of new theatre works. Her discography includes the Broadway cast recordings of Motown, Godspell, Wonderland, The Addams Family, the concept albums of The Little Princess, and Tears from Heaven. She is also featured on several composer and artist albums. Ms. James is a graduate of The Juilliard School in New York City where she received her BM in Voice, and is a proud member of AEA, AFTRA, and SAG.
