It’s renewal time at SLAC and our favorite time of year. We love having the opportunity to personally thank our subscribers while they renew their subscriptions and party with us on stage.
Our brave, exciting work is only possible because you see it. We aim to bring you the best new plays while honoring your trust and sense of adventure. We share the love for this theatre and the awe and wonder of creativity. Our stories in our 23/24 season are funny, powerful, honest, and surprising and will ignite our imaginations.
In 2019, we had over 3,400 subscribers. We currently have 1,600 with a goal of 2,600. That’s 1,000 more subscribers. With your help, we can do it. Please renew or subscribe.

JENNICA ANUSUA
(Romola/Ensemble) is absolutely thrilled to be making her debut with SLAC in Yoga Play. A lover of all things arts, she attributes her passion for the stage to her pre-K dance classes, violin lessons and lead role in her 3rd grade musical. She is presently engaged in film, television, and stage work dovetailed with mental and emotional health work and is excited to see how her career will continue to grow. Some of her most recent credits include Falling for Christmas (Carla), Sherlock the Musical (Reporter), Barefoot in the Park (Corie), Freelancers Season 2 (Officer Gatlin), and Murder is Announced (Miss Marple). Jennica is deeply passionate about the continued elevation of diverse narratives and the immense power inherent in storytelling to help people find belonging, their voice, and pathways to heal. All of her love, gratitude, and admiration to those at SLAC, and to her family and friends for their continued support and for helping her find her most full self within and outside of her art.
ARCHELAUS CRISANTO*
(Fred) is absolutely delighted to be returning to SLAC. Archie is an actor/director/ filmmaker and storyteller. He is an Oregon transplant to Utah and proud Filipino immigrant American. Equally at home on stage and screenArchie was last seen on stage as an understudy for SLAC’s world premiere production of Steve Yockey’s Sleeping Giant, and onscreen in a segment of the popular horror franchise V/H/S on Shudder (V/H/S’99). Some of Archie’s stage credits include Trevor in the Play That Goes Wrong (Pioneer Theatre Company), Speed in The Odd Couple (Hale Center Orem), Macbeth in Macbeth, Claudius in Hamlet, Theseus/ Oberon A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Don Armado in Love’s Labor’s Lost. (Grassroots Shakespeare). Archie is an instructor of Epoca’ Acting Class, who are committed to empowering BIPOC performers and expanding diverse representation in Utah film and theatre, and runs “It’s Only A Movie!”, a Utah Only Short Horror Film Festival. Archie loves cooking (and eating) Filipino food, obscure 60’s soul covers, and boxing.
JOE CRNICH (John/Gurugi/ Ensemble) is an actor/ director/educator with over 25 years experience in the professional and academic theatre world. Joe is currently the Director of Theatre Arts at Juan Diego Catholic High School. Joe has spent time at The Goodman Theatre in Chicago, The Hippodrome Theatre in Florida and performed at The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. with Weber State University’s production of Macbeth Joe has trained with Tectonic Theatre Company and SITI Company. (Raj) is very excited to be a part of Yoga Play at SLAC. He recently did The Laramie Project with Wasatch Theatre Company. When he isn’t on stage, Abhi enjoys photography, hiking, camping, and anything else that gets him outside.
TRACIE MERRILLWILSON* (understudy Joan)
Tracie is always grateful to work with SLAC, and is excited to be among this amazing group of artists. Previous SLAC credits include The Wolves, Rapture Blister Burn, Ice Glen and the 2010 Fearless Fringe Festival (SB Dance’s Yoga Confidential and The Harvey Girls) . Other favorite local and regional works include: PG Anon, One Big Union, Lady Macbeth, and Di Esperienza with Plan B; Eleemosynary, Selma 65, Cheat, and Stop Kiss with Pygmalion; Rings at The Grand Theatre; Dracula at PTC; Rare Bird at the U; The Rainmaker at Hale; Metamorphoses and As You Like It at the Clarence Brown Theatre; La Bete and The Tempest at Theater at Monmouth; and three Shakespeare tours (Taming of the Shrew, Othello, Midsummer Nights Dream, Romeo and Juliet). Film and TV credits include 127 Hours and Disney Channel’s Den Brother. A member of AEA, she received her MFA from UT-Knoxville and a classical degree
from Weber Douglas Academy in London. Tracie also takes great pride in being involved in readings to develop new plays. Endless love to her family, and huge thanks to her Dad for hours spent running lines.
JEANETTE PUHICH
(Joan) is excited to be on the boards at SLAC again! Her past SLAC credits include Rapture, Blister Burn, The Water Project, Swimming In The Shallows, The Ride Down Mount Morgan, The Beard of Avon, Mere Mortals, Napoleon’s China, Gunmetal Blues and Cabbies, Cowboys, and The Tree Of The Weeping Virgin She also played Haley Walker in the one woman show, Bad Dates. She also proudly played Roma Downey, Gayle Ruzika (or Godzika or Gadzicka, etc) Paula The Porn Czar and A ZCMI Manikin, to name a few, in 13 seasons of Saturday’s Voyeur. Other Utah credits include; Dot in Last Lists of My Mad Mother for Pygmalion Theatre Company; Yitzak in Hedwig & The Angry Inch forPlan B Theatre; Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie at The Grand Theatre; Janet in The Rocky Horror Show at the Institute of Terror and All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten at the Egyptian Theatre in Park City. Jeanette is originally from Seattle Washington where she performed at Pioneer Square Theatre, The Group Theatre, A Contemporary Theatre, Tacoma Actor’s Guild and The Cabaret de Paris. Jeanette also works in the television, film and voice over industry. Some of her film and television credits include; Touched By An Angel, Promised Land, Everwood, Gentleman Broncos and Mobsters and Mormons. Jeanette holds a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from The University of Idaho.
DARCI RAMIREZ
(understudy Romola/ Ensemble) first credit at Salt Lake Acting Company, and she is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with these amazing artists! She received her BFA in Acting from Brigham Young University with a minor in Anthropology. Her most recent credits include Juror #8 in Twelve Angry Jurors at Brigham Young University and Helen/Diana (u/s) in All’s Well that Ends Well at the Utah Shakespeare Festival, where she has also worked for the past 5 seasons as Seminar Manager, Literary Assistant, and Assistant Dramaturg. Born and raised in American Fork Utah, her most recent work has centered on
embracing the nuances, contradictions, and discoveries of mixed and gradient identities – resulting in workshops and presentations at national theatre conferences, academic publications, and the writing of La Posadera, produced in 2022 through Microburst Theatre Festival and is a prospective participant in the 2023 Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival. And for each family member, friend, mentor and educator that has helped her along her path (even in seemingly simple ways) – there simply aren’t words to express the kind of gratitude that’s due. JORDAN REYNOSA
(understudy Fred) graduated from Westminster College (‘21) with a BFA in acting and a minor in dance. He is the founder and artistic director of Beyond the Line Theatre Company and since it’s creation in 2019, they have premiered Fictitious People (2019), The Lady with the Dog (2021, won Outstanding Student Production), and Clown House (2022, won Best of F Fringe Award) at the Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival. Some of his acting credits include The Fossil Record (Andrew) at An Other Theatre Company, Let’s Fix Andy! (Marcus) staged reading, and Elephant & Piggie’s “We Are in a Play!” (Puppeteer) at Salt Lake Acting Company, West Side Story (Luis) at the Grand Theatre, Ah, Wilderness! MOHAN SUDABATTULA (understudy Raj) is the Founder and CEO of Project Embrace, a healthcare nonprofit that brokers medical supplies and is dedicated to increasing access to healthcare services and technology for all. Project Embrace has a rich and successful history working with low-resource and disenfranchised communities such as, but not limited to, the unsheltered, undocumented patients, refugees, at-risk women and children, indigenous and native communities, veterans, and the severely impoverished. As a healthcare entrepreneur, his work has been published and celebrated across numerous professional and academic
stages such as our local state legislature, the University of Utah School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins Medical School, Stanford School of Medicine, Stanford Law School, the University of Oxford, the United Nations, and the TED stage. His business acumen and drive for social impact earned him a recent spot as one of Utah Business’ “20 in their 20’s”. Mohan attended the University of Utah where he studied biology, philosophy, and healthy, society and policy. He also received his certification in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights from Oxford University.
ROBERT SCOTT SMITH* (understudy John/Guruji/ Ensemble) is the Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of Flying Bobcat Theatrical Laboratory, Assistant Professor and Area Head of the BFA Actor Training Program at the University of Utah. As a professional actor, NYC credits include Kreutzer Sonata (United Solo Festival), Keeping Ishmael (Workshop); Pericles (SLANT); SLC acting credits include Gold Mountain (Utah Shakespeare Festival); Mary Stuart, The Crucible and Two Henrys (PTC); Sleeping Giant, Saturday’s Voyeur, Climbing with Tigers, Rapture Blister Burn, Good People, Charm (World Premiere), Swimming in the Shallows, Six Years, Big Love, Batboy: The Musical and Gross Indecency (Salt Lake Acting Company); A Streetcar Named Desire, Our Town (The Grand Theatre); and Ice Front (World Premiere), Kreutzer Sonata (World Premiere) and Bash (Plan-B). DIPIKA GUHA (Playwright) is an LA based, Calcutta - born playwright raised in Russia, India and the United Kingdom. Her plays include Yoga Play (South Coast Rep, Gateway, Moxie Theatre & SF Playhouse), The Art of Gaman (Theatre 503 London, Relentless Award semifinalist) and Unreliable (Kansas City Rep). Recent commissions include Azaan, a play for Oregon Symphony, In Braunau for Playwrights Horizons Theatre School, contributions to You Across From Me (Humana, Actors Theatre of Louisville) and Getting There for New Conservatory Theatre Center. She is a current Venturous Fellow with the Lark for her play Passing, was a Hodder Fellow at the Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton University and was the inaugural Shakespeare’s Sister Playwriting Fellow. Dipika is currently under commission from South Coast
Rep, Manhattan Theatre Club and Barrington Stage. For television, she’s written for projects in development at AMC the series Sneaky Pete and currently writes for Black Monday on Showtime. She earned her undergraduate degree at University College London, won a Frank Knox Fellowship to Harvard University and has an M.F.A from the Yale School of Drama under Paula Vogel.
PENELOPE CAYWOOD (Director/ Choreographer) is delighted to be directing again for SLAC after last season’s production of Elephant & Piggie: We are in a Play. Upcoming projects include Seussical for Youth Theatre at the U and the Utah Premiere of Yoga Play at SLAC. Past directing projects include the World Premiere of Fremont Junior High is NOT doing Oklahoma (Good Company Theatre), Somewhere: A Primer for the End of Days (U Theatre Studio 115), and The Book Club Play (U Theatre Babcock). Past directing credits at SLAC include Elephant & Piggie: We are in a Play, Pete the Cat, Pinkalicious, The True Story of The Three Little Pigs, Diary of a Worm, a Spider, and a Fly, Art Dog, A Year With Frog and Toad, Cat in the Hat, Click Clack Moo: Cows that Type, How I Became a Pirate, and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. Penelope is an adjunct assistant professor for Theatre Teaching and the Artistic Director for Youth Theatre at the U. Youth Theatre provides in and out-of-school programs for youth ages 5 - 18, as well as multiple residencies and professional development workshops for classroom teachers. In collaboration with Youth Theatre’s internationally recognized and nationally award-winning high school Conservatory, Penelope devises new work every year. Penelope is a board member for both the Utah Advisory Council of Theatre Teachers and the American Alliance for Theatre and Education.
MICHAEL FRANCIS (Media & Projection Designer) Michael Francis is an actor, director, musician, and visual artist. Apart from his contributions to the stage, Michael’s work spans discipline and genre ranging from devised installations to game design. A staunch advocate of arts education, he teaches acting in his private studio and as a visiting instructor around the United States. MWDFrancis.com

The 2016 United States Institute for Theatre Technology conference in SLC presented a retrospective of his theatre design work. He is a Professor of Theatre in the Department of Theatre at the University of Utah where he served as department chair from 2009-18.
ERIK REICHERT (Props Designer/ Construction Supervisor) Erik’s is excited to be working on Yoga Play as the Properties Designer and Construction Supervisor. Previous shows for Props Design include, Hairy & Sherri, Sleeping Giant, SLACabaret down the rabbit hole, Passing Strange, Egress, Elephant & Piggie, Four Women Talking About The Man Under The Sheet. He also designed the Set’s for UBLAC, Sankofa: The Journey, go back and get it, A Year With Frog and Toad, Elephant & Piggie, Stags Leap, The Wolves, The Dance and the Railroad and Dolls House pt.2. and was the asst. set designer on Form of a girl unknown. He currently works as the Construction Supervisor at SLAC.
ADRIANA LEMKE (Intimacy Director) is a Salt Lake City based theatre-artist and movement professional. Previous Salt Lake Acting Company productions include Hairy & Sherri, Sleeping Giant, Surely Goodness & Mercy, and The Wolves. Most recently, she was intimacy/fight director for The Sweet Science of Bruising (UofU) and As You Like It (UofU). Other fight direction credits include At the Bottom (Pinnacle Acting Company), Ion (The Classical Greek Theatre Festival), Twelfth Night (Salt Lake Shakespeare), Man and the Moon (Good Company Theatre), Julius Caesar (UofU), Hamlet (Sun Valley Shakespeare).
JENNIFER JACKSON (Composer/Sound Designer) is excited to return for another season with SLAC. Previous design and/or original music credits include Gold Mountain (Utah Shakespeare Festival); Lifespan of a Fact (Pioneer Theatre); Egress, Alabaster, Form of a Girl Unknown, Silent Dancer, The Wolves, Hir, Hand to God, Harbur Gate, Bull Shark Attack, Streetlight Woodpecker, Blackberry Winter, Two Stories (Salt Lake Acting Company); Radio Slam (Plan-B Theatre); Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Henry IV Part I (Salt Lake Shakespeare); Ion (Westminster College). Her sound installations have been exhibited at the Yale University Art Gallery and the University of Utah. Jennifer is an associate professor for the University of Utah Department of Theatre where her credits include Storm Still, The Odyssey, The Two Noble Kinsmen (with OSF Play On!), and School for Lies. La has designed nearly 50
productions in the past 10 years for Theatre, Dance, and Opera across the west, including Salt Lake Acting Company, Sundance Summer Theatre, Plan B Theatre Co., Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, Oregon Cabaret Theatre, Hale Center Theatre, UVU, and BYU. As the Commissioner for the Costume Design & Technology Commission for the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT), she works to provide training and resources to professional and educational costume designers across the U.S. She has her MFA in Costume Design and currently works as an Associate Professor of Costume Design and Technology at Utah Valley University and Chair of the Theatre Department.
MATT TAYLOR (Lighting Designer) is a professional lighting designer for live entertainment and professor at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI where he leads the MFA program in Lighting Design for Theatre and Dance. He’s thrilled to return to Salt Lake Acting Company to work on the brilliant Yoga Play with this wonderful creative team. His professional work covers a wide range of genres and styles of live entertainment from concerts and cruise ships to traditional theatre and dance productions. He has worked extensively in New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta and other major cultural hubs on Broadway, Off Broadway, as well as throughout regional houses. His work can regularly be seen at the Old Globe in San Diego, Ford’s Theatre in Washington, DC; Centro de Convenciones Figali in Panamá City, Panamá; Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and many others. EDEN COPE (Assistant Lighting Designer) Eden is beyond grateful for the opportunity to be working alongside the team at the Salt Lake Acting Company. Born and raised in the Metro Detroit area, Eden is currently studying at Wayne State University, working towards her BFA in Theatre Design & Technology with her focus being in Lighting Design. With eight years of experience working in theatre thus far, Eden has been delighted in the collaboration process of design and is excited for what the future holds. Immersing herself into the art of stage production is just one of the many visually creative mediums she aspires to be included in through the language of lighting design. When Eden is not working in productions, she is a dedicated skating coach after retiring from her own ice hockey career. She adores the time she gets to spend on the ice, mentoring the youth of hockey as well as being an advocate for women’s

position in the sport, her goal being to create a supportive coaching environment different than the ones she grew up skating in.
JOESPH PAUL BRANCA (Assistant Stage Manager) As someone accustomed to appearing on stage, Joey is all aflutter to be behind the scenes of Yoga Play working as the Assistant Stage Manager for the the very first time! Previous performances with SLAC include: SLACabaret: Down the Rabbit Hole, Just for Laughs, Pete the Cat, Saturday’s Voyeur, and Diary of a Worm, a Spider, and a Fly. Other recent work includes performances with Utah Opera, Hale Centre Theatre, Hale Center Theater Orem, West Valley Arts, Good Company Theatre, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka. Films include starring roles in Dog Valley, Blood of the Undying, and the Emmy Award Winning Resistance Movement. He has received numerous awards for his work, including a Utah Film Award, a Westminster Theatre Society Award, and two BroadwayWorld Awards for Best Actor in a Play and Musical. CASSANDRA STOKES-WYLIE (Assistant Director) is Salt Lake Acting Company’s Literary Manager and an SLC actor who was last seen on SLAC’s stage as The Convert in Sleeping Giant She is thrilled for the opportunity to work, for the first time, on the other side of the artistic table for a company that has consistently fostered her theatrical journey. Other recent SLAC acting credits include Sarah in Death of a Driver, Karla in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Gynecologic Oncology Unit at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center of New York City, a variety of characters in Saturday’s Voyeur 2017, Alyson Moss in Harbur Gate, and Tanya in Bull Shark Attack. ERIKA AHLIN (Assistant Props Design) is very excited to be on the Yoga Play team. This is her first time working on the production side at SLAC. She has been working administratively with the organization since 2012, and is currently serving as Director of Development. She has watched the Professional Theatre Program mentor hundreds of aspiring theatre artists, and is thrilled to be a part of the program. Erika has a multitude of creative hobbies including: card making, crocheting, sewing, decorating for events and birthday parties, designing halloween costumes, and curating experiences. In her free time, Erika plays bass in a band with SLAC favorite, Elaine Jarvik.
AUDREY KEARL (Projections Assistant)
Audrey Kearl is a current theater design graduate student at USU. She is studying set and projections design and has a love for scenic painting. She has contributed her painting skills to USU’s productions of Spring Awakening, Christmas Carol, Puffs, Pinocchio, and Misalliance. She also assisted with projections in USU’s production of Puffs. Besides, working on this show, she is also helping with designing props for The Utah Opera’s production of Sweeney Todd, designing the set for USU’s production of Pussy Riot and will be the designer for USU’s production of The Tempest next year. Audrey is a native of California and came to Utah to attend university.
SIDIKHA ASHRAF (Dramaturg & Dialect Coach) is a Tamil Muslim-American writer, comedian, and dramaturg. She’s written for television comedies in development with Netflix and DreamWorks. Her dramaturgy credits include Yoga Play (Syracuse Stage), Best Lesbian Erotica 1995 (San Diego Rep), Free Falling (Fresh Lime Soda), Talk About The Weather (LIU Acting/ The New Group), and Eureka Day (Colt Coeur). She was the ‘19-‘20 Artistic Fellow at The New Group and a 2017 New South Young Playwrights Fellow at Atlanta’s Horizon Theatre Company. You may have heard her read stage directions in several pandemic era Zoom readings or seen her hosting talkbacks for Colt Coeur and Rat Queen Theatre Company. She is now cocurating the 2023 NYC Parks Youth Arts Festival; for which she trained recreation staff, citywide, in the art of stop-motion animation. Thank you to SLAC and Melissa Crespo. JENNIE SANT* (Production Stage Manager/ Production Manager) Has been at Salt Lake Acting Company for over 10 years. During that decade she has stage managed over 30 shows, including NPSS readings and SLAC’s Playwrights Lab. She is pleased to be working on Yoga Play. previous shows include Sleeping Giant, SLACabaret 2022: Down the Rabbit Hole, Passing Strange, Egress, Elephant & Piggie, SLACabaret 2021 and Alabaster. CYNTHIA FLEMING (Executive Artistic Director) has been on the administrative staff at Salt Lake Acting Company since 1998. During this time, she has overseen multiple departments including Marketing, Communications, Development, Production, and Audience Services. In 2015, Cynthia was named to her current role as Executive Artistic Director. Prior to arriving at Salt Lake Acting Company, Cynthia performed in the Broadway, National, and International companies of the original run of A Chorus Line, directed by Michael Bennett. Cynthia remains a working artist in the theatre and continues to direct and choreograph works both at SLAC and elsewhere. Those credits include SLACabaret 2021, Silent Dancer, Saturday’s Voyeur (16 years as Choreographer, 7 as Director/Choreographer), Bat Boy, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, as well as guest directing the MFA Playwrights’ Workshop—a partnership with the Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival, Stanford University, and the National New Play Network. She has also served as a visiting professor for the University of Utah’s Musical Theatre program. Outside of her theatre-related pursuits,
Cynthia is a member of the Women’s Democratic Club of Utah, as well as 100 Women Who Care SLC. Cynthia is proud to serve SLAC and its mission to engage and enrich the community through brave, contemporary theatre.

Through the Professional Theatre Program for Emerging Artists (PTP), SLAC provides opportunities for students and early-career theatre artists to gain meaningful, fully paid experience by integrating them into the production cycle.
