ketika Merah Keterhubungan manusia dengan dunia atau lingkungannya menunjukkan sejauh mana manusia 'ada' atau sejauh mana manusia tiada. Sejauh mana ia terlebur dan ditaklukkan oleh dunia dan lingkungannya serta sejauh mana ia bisa membangun jarak dan menikmati kebebasannya. Karya-karya yang kita saksikan pada pameran bertema Urban Nuances ini, dalam pelbagai variasinya, mencoba menyuguhkan pandangan-pandangan, dimensi dan terutama nuansa ketegangan antara eksistensi manusia dalam lingkungannya. Salah satu yang paling unik dalam mengungkap relasi manusiadunia adalah yang dilakukan oleh Agung “Tato� Suryanto. Keunikannya terletak pada kenyataan bahwa kehadiran manusia digambarkan justru melalui ketakhadirannya, melalui celah dan ruang-ruang kosong yang terhimpit antara sudutsudut dan bongkahan dinding. Garis asimetris dihadapan sudut ini nampaknya mengindikasikan kompleksitas kepadatan dari ruang yang memberikan nuansa mengancam. Sementara dominasi merah di situ bisa diartikan sebagai situasi yang menantang, tegang dan sekaligus menerangi objek yang lainnya, yang tak hadir itu. Dengan itu, bagi Agung dunia dipandang sebagai kombinasi dari ancaman, ketegangan bahaya sekaligus kesegaran dan makna-makna. 2

Nuansa merah yang menyiratkan ketegangan provokatif juga ada di dalam Dadang Imawan. Hanya pada Dadang garis merah itu melekat pada bidang lentur dari matras yang membekap manusia dan benda-benda imajinernya. Matras dan benda serta sosok di dalamnya digambarkan sebagai lambang dari relasi antara hasrat yang memuncrat ke arah dan dengan obyek-obyeknya. Salah satu subyek yang menarik perhatian Dadang di sini adalah tubuh perempuan dan binatang yang terbekap dan disembunyikan dalam hasrat. Dengan meletakkan matras sebagai lambang hasrat maka Dadang memandang benda-benda sebagai proyeksi hasrat. Matras di situ bukan lain adalah representasi dari kehadiran manusia yang sudah disembunyikan sosoknya. Garis merah juga penting dalam karya Aan Gunawan dalam karyanya yang berjudul underground. Meski dilukiskan hanya dalam satu tarikan berbentuk kurva, tapi cukup untuk memperjelas serakan gumpalan mahluk-kacang yang sedemikian rupa membentuk konfigurasi mirip janin. Di sini serakan bendabenda itu juga memproyeksikan semacam nuansa kehidupan yang purba dan tak berbentuk. Kekaburan akibat peleburan antara manusia dan benda juga terungkap dalam karya-karya Yanuar Ernawati. Peleburan itu digambarkan dalam persatuan antara manusia, pandangannya


dengan dinding, tembok serta sudut bangunan kota. Yanuar menggambarkan sebuah situasi timbal balik, kota memperhatikan orang-orang, dan orang-orang juga memperhatikan kota. Kota memakan manusia dan manusia meleburkan kota dalam pandanganya. Peleburan yang lebih samar antara tubuh dan situasi dalam nuansa yang lebih halus tapi verbal dilukiskan oleh karya Abdi Harno. Dalam Abdi Harno peleburan manusia dan lingkungannya dilukiskan secara gamblang melalui penggambaran perempuan yang sedang berendam. Gelas yang terpampang di situ memberikan indikasi bahwa fantasi dan kenikmatan terlibat di sekitar aktivitas pemanjaan tubuh itu. Di sini si pelukis sebenarnya sedang mengetengahkan semacam kritik yang halus dalam dunia konsumsi kontemporer.

Pada bagian akhir, Didiet Maulana, kita bisa menikmati relasi manusia dan lingkungannya secara lebih santai dan syahdu. Bagian ini menggambarkan kesendirian yang kontras tapi justru yang memiliki daya untuk menikmati lingkungan dan dunia. Ruparupanya bagi Didiet, keberjarakan antara subyek dengan lingkungannya - yang digambarkan dalam nuansa kekaburan cat - masih bisa melahirkan kegembiraan dan keharuan sejauh ia dirayakan secara personal dan diam-diam. Kritik yang lebih tegar dan jelas terhadap struktur masyarakat konsumsi digambarkan oleh Erwin Trihendarto, melalui mulutmulut yang mengalamai registrasi. Mulut di sini tidak hanya mewakili tubuh atau manusianya tapi juga keadaan masyarakat secara keseluruhan yang saat ini mengalami penyeragaman. Mulut tidak lagi berfungsi sebagai sarana artikulasi dari rasio. Ia secara klasik melambangkan kerakusan, kerakusan yang secara ironis diseragamkan dan distandarisasikan. Dengan begitu, mulut-mulut Erwin di sini adalah lambang dari penaklukan ganda atas manusia. 3
