Obituary James Edward “Jack” Nunnery

I’m Free

was born on April 3, 1932 to the union of Malachi and Dorothy Nunnery in McComb, Mississippi. He also received his formal education in McComb.

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free; I’m following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard him call; I turned my back and left it all.

Jack accepted Christ as his savior and united with Damascus Missionary Baptist Church where he served as deacon.

I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I found the peace at the close of day.

James Nunnery was united in holy matrimony with Louise Taylor in the 1980s in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was employed by Grady’s Foundry for nearly 50 years, until his retirement. In his leisure, Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to church and spending time with family. James “Jack” Nunnery departed this life on February 23, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Malachi and Dorothy Nunnery; wife, Louise Nunnery (2014); brother, Jethro Nunnery; sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Hardges (Nunnery) & Emogene Wallace (Nunnery); stepson, James Johnson, Jr.; and stepdaughters, Lynn and Barbara Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memory: three daughters, Annie Ruth Nunnery of Milwaukee,WI; Dorothy Ann Hendricks of Appleton, WI and Rochelle Nunnery of Milwaukee, WI; stepchildren, Frances Hennings, Christine Johnson, Sperlon (Alice) Johnson, Jr., Walter Johnson and Rochelle Johnson, all of Milwaukee, WI; two brothers, Charles Nunnery of Milwaukee, WI and J.B. Nunnery of McComb, MS; one sister, Edna Nunnery of McComb, MS; ten grandchildren, Shawn Nunnery, Terryl Nunnery, Sha’nia Woods and Rogenae Woods of Milwaukee, WI, Jimale Nunnery of Atlanta, GA, Myuanta Nunnery, Joy Hendricks, Monty Nunnery, Dominick Hendricks and James Anthony Nunnery of Appleton, WI; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; Oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all to brief; Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me, God wanted me now; He set me free.

Lord, don’t move my mountain, but give me the strength to climb. Lord, don’t take my stumbling block, but lead me all around.

The Broken Chain We little knew that day, God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death, we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you but you did not go alone, For part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide. And although we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
