Lastly, our houses were challenged to be creative for Anti-Bullying Week, a UK-wide event to raise awareness of issues around bullying. Every house came up with completely different activities - from videos, posters, different dress, super heroes, plays and acts of kindness – and presented them in a memorable, fun and meaningful whole school assembly

With this years theme being “Choose Respect” houses engaged in creative activities to promote kindness and foster a positive community
Athelstan: Celebrated respect with leaders dressed as superheroes, embodying kindness and addressing bullying
Hambro: Performed a moving assembly showcasing their house’s unity and readiness to support anyone in need.
Damer: Continued their tradition of sharing compliments and added thoughtful gestures to support each other, like helping with schoolwork or offering friendship
Hughie’s: Highlighted individuality with odd socks, styled hair, and kindness-themed posters.
Tregonwell: Created a video on the impact of bullying and kindness online, and wore uniforms backwards to promote fun and individuality
Our Third Form hospitality students showcased their creativity using pumpkins harvested from our very own School Farm They whipped up a batch of delicious pumpkin and orange muffins, perfectly finished with a cream cheese frosting It’s wonderful to see our students incorporate local, fresh ingredients into their cooking
xth photography students have been g shutter speed and recently held their first tique They shared their work, exchanged , and reflected on written post-it comments, collaboration and critical thinking while g their skills.
Classical Civilisation students enjoyed an enriching trip to Bath, where they explored the ancient Roman Baths through a guided tour, gaining first-hand insight into the remarkable historical site.
The visit continued with time in the museum, offering a deeper dive into Roman history and culture
This experience has provided an excellent foundation for the Fifth Form's upcoming OCR GCSE course on the Roman Baths after Christmas
“Students at Milton Abbey have recently formed the Environmental Committee They have had a very successful recruitment of 45 people, including both staff and students
At least one student from each year group is participating in making the school more environmentally friendly The Environmental Committee will be working with the school to make Milton Abbey more sustainable as a whole Ideas and suggestions come from the students which the committee will action The committee’s goal is to decrease energy and water use, but also to reduce waste They try to think of creative ideas to make students have more fun participating, such as turning waste into art, fashion and technology. They try to make the world one step closer to becoming a better place.”

Our school community gathered in the Abbey for a heartfelt Remembrance Service, joined by parents and Old Miltonians in a spirit of respect and gratitude The ceremony paid a meaningful tribute to those who served with courage and dignity
Thank you to Lt Col Paul Hooker, Intelligence Corps and father of Maddie H, Middle Sixth, for his powerful and thought-provoking sermon. Special thanks also to our Heads of School, Jamie T and Evie H, for their moving readings, and to the CCF for their impeccable contributions, which brought solemnity to the service
Tregonwell House crafted a stunning poppy display outside their residence in honour of Remembrance Day, with more than 200 signed by staff members and students to commemorate loved ones.
The First Team has had a strong start to the season, winning 7 of 8 matches, including two dramatic ISFA knockout victories over Canford (3-2 after extra time) and Bournemouth Collegiate (2-1). They now face RGS Guildford in Round 2, aiming for a spot in the quarter-finals The team leads the league with four wins from four matches, a +19 goal difference, and standout performances from Oscar F, Middle Sixth, (11 goals), Zach A, Fifth Form (10 goals), and Antoine S, Middle Sixth (14 assists)
The Second Team have also started well, winning matches against Canford and Taunton’s second teams Oliver B, Lower Sixth, has been a key player, providing assists and scoring important goals
The Juniors have won 7 of 9 matches, with a notable victory over Ryde in the ISFA Cup, advancing to the quarter-finals for the first time. Finley G, Fourth Form, has been a standout performer, scoring multiple goals, including three hat-tricks
Our partnership with Champion Sports Academy has been key, with expert coaching from Dan Neville, Tom Bearwish, Jack Foden, and Oli

In a fiercely contested hockey match, Damer House triumphed over Hughie’s with a thrilling 3-2 victory Both teams showcased impressive energy and skill from the outset. Hughie’s struck first, taking an early 1- 0 lead Damer quickly equalized, but Hughie’s regained the advantage with a goal just before halftime. The second half saw Damer come out with renewed determination, ultimately clinching the win with a dramatic last-minute goal Well done all!
The Senior Rugby team delivered an exciting performance, achieving a hard-fought 3-3 draw against Bishop Wordsworth and narrowly falling short against Wells Despite the close loss, the team showcased resilience and growth under the dedicated guidance of Mr Denness, Head of Rugby, who is continuously pushing the players to enhance their skills and work harder in training
Reflecting on their efforts, Mr Denness remarked, “Every player gave their all, demonstrating impressive flashes of attacking flair and solid defensive work It was incredibly rewarding to see the progress from training translating into matches, especially with noticeable improvements in our defensive organisation ”
The team’s commitment and development promise an exciting season ahead
The Badminton team kicked off their season with an outstanding performance in their first match against Sherborne School. Artur A and Austin M, both in Middle Sixth, shone as our top players, securing victories in two of their matches Additionally, several students showcased their skills during the Inter-House Badminton competition, a fantastic chance to refine techniques ahead of future fixtures
Congratulations to everyone who represented their house and contributed to a spirited display of talent and sportsmanship!

Zach J, Fourth Form, Pablo J, Fifth Form, and Lower Sixth students Rocco T and Neo T, delivered exceptional performances, securing a well-deserved victory
In the November Golf Tournament, Zach J claimed victory in Division One, while William N, Middle Sixth, emerged as the winner of Division Two. Both earned a £5.00 Tuck Shop voucher for their achievements!
Excitingly, new faces have joined our golf sessions, guided by our visiting golf pro, Nick. Lower Sixth students Fabia W and Mazarine M have taken to the course with enthusiasm Stay tuned for more updates on their progress!
Mrs Burton, Head of Art, has commended Nadiia S, Fifth Form, for her outstanding dedication and meticulous approach to her exam preparation Her commitment and attention to detail have been exemplary. Furthermore, as part of her Duke of Edinburgh Award, Nadiia has embraced the challenge of learning a new skill by joining the Sixth Form life drawing class She made an impressive start, showcasing remarkable progress during her very successful first session last week
Mr Power has commended Charlie S, Third Form, for his outstanding dedication to Design and Technology Charlie consistently demonstrates enthusiasm in the workshop, producing work of exceptional quality. He actively participates in both evening and afternoon activities whenever possible, showcasing his commitment to learning and growth. Charlie’s positive attitude and passion for the subject make him a true pleasure to have in class.
Middle Sixth Fashion students have made fantastic progress with their craft unit Evie H has collaborated with an artist to use their images She is printing the images onto T Shirts and has already taken a large amount of orders from across the school She has been very organised and has spent a lot of time developing the printing to make sure it is of high quality.
Situated in the picturesque countryside of Dorset, our students enjoy the perfect balance of rural charm and local convenience They can explore scenic walks, visit nearby shops like Smiths, or enjoy a meal at the Hambro Arms Additionally, they have the opportunity to take trips to nearby historic towns such as Salisbury and Dorchester, where they can immerse themselves in rich history and, of course, indulge in some shopping.
To celebrate Guy Fawkes Night, students enjoyed a spectacular evening filled with dazzling fireworks on the school grounds, accompanied by warm hot chocolate and delicious treats
Afterward, they gathered in their social spaces to enjoy a treat of take away pizza and cans of pop while they relax, watch a movie and reconnect with friends, catching up on all the fun and adventures from the half-term break
Sixth Form had a lovely, two-course meal in the Abbott’s Hall, followed by a well-attended and energetic disco. It was great to see everyone fully involved and having a good time Feedback from the students were positive, with highlights being the food and the range of music played It was a lovely evening, with laughs all round.
Sundays offer a more relaxed pace, giving students plenty of choices to unwind and enjoy their day Popular activities include a trip to Smiths, engaging in sports like golf or football, a workout at the gym, or exploring a nearby town for some shopping And of course, it all begins after a leisurely brunch!
