“Milwaukee Repertory Theater ignites positive change in the cultural, social, and economic vitality of its community by creating world-class theater experiences that entertain, provoke, and inspire meaningful dialogue among an audience representative of Milwaukee’s rich diversity.”
Thank you all for coming to see Dreamgirls and for being a part of our 2015/16 Quadracci Powerhouse Season kick off.
Dreamgirls, our sixth musical produced in the Quadracci Powerhouse, is indicative of our desire to tell powerful, meaningful, and entertaining stories through multiple disciplines, as well as being a strong example of choosing a production that is on point in terms of truly aligning itself to our Mission and Core Values. In order to create a world class theatre experience, you need a world class facility, with a world class staff, world class material, and a world class cast who have the potential to deliver that material to close to perfection. I feel blessed to have all of these vital components at our disposal and am excited to share the fruits of our labors with you at this performance. The Dreamgirls Company Meet & Greet in late August, hosted by our friends at Mount Mary University, drew an overwhelming 500 people to the event who were just eager to get a glimpse of our wonderfully talented cast. The evening was incredibly uplifting in itself and the subsequent weeks of rehearsals have been an intense combination of hard team-work, collegiate discovery, and sheer fun. We hope you have at least half as much joy watching the show as we have had making it.
In addition to 13 exciting new productions, the 2015/16 Season also heralds in a new Mission Statement for Milwaukee Rep, crafted and unanimously endorsed by the Board of Trustees and staff, which will be our company’s guiding star for now and many seasons to come. I very much welcome this opportunity to share it with you:
Artistic Director and Director of Dreamgirls
Underpinning this Mission Statement are five Core Values: Quality, Inclusion, Citizenship, Innovation, and Sustainability, along with an artistic Vision Statement that we will be sharing with you in a more detailed fashion in the very near future.
Cheers!
