Western Mindanao said Malcolm McIntyre departed the port of Dampier in Western Australia last August 04 and was sailing for Cebu City to visit his Filipino wife, Mira Luna Labrador and their son in Cebu City. The adventurer told his rescuers that his boat’s engine malfunctioned and was drifting off Basilan’s Akbar town and eventually rescued near Santa Cruz Island on the evening of September 5 after the Philippine Navy received McIntyre’s distressThecall.Naval Forces Western Mindanao quickly deployed a patrol boat and after hours of search spotted the yacht “Spirit of Argao” and found the Australian boater. “After scouring the reported site of the vessel and nearby islands, the Navy men finally spotted the yacht near Santa Cruz Island. The lone passenger was identified as Malcolm McIntyre, an Australian national, who complained of tiredness and hunger after spending hours at sea attempting to fix the deranged engine of his yacht,” the Naval Forces Western Mindanao said.The yacht was towed to the naval base here and McIntyre was brought to Camp Navarro General Hospital where he underwent medical check-up, and later fed. McIntyre was handed over to the Bureau of Immigration. “Mister McIntyre is undergoing an interview by local immigration officials. If all goes well, he shall be allowed to continue his voyage to Cebu as soon as his yacht is restored in good condition,” the Naval Forces Western Mindanao said. McIntyre is the second foreign yachter rescued this year. In taking an unexpected pregnancy to term, and in raising children, they limit their social or economic opportunities, while being expected to be good mothers who will put the well-being of their children above anything else,” she said. Gacad also pointed out that perhaps the government and civil society should rethink their approaches to teenage pregnancy. “It’s not enough to say that teenage pregnancy is bad. It has to align with their desire, especially since there are some people who want to get pregnant at a young age,” she said. “Maybe we don’t need to change their desire for pregnancy but instead their idea of fulfillment as a woman.”Gacad said teenagers should also be guided to see that there are other ways for women to be accomplished or be fulfilled. “Broadening that option for young women might change fertility preferences,” she said.
The research author said there should also be a change in perspective among groups trying to address teenage pregnancy. “You cannot stop pregnancies just by insisting on contraceptives. If we wanted young people to take contraceptives, we must discuss why they would need to in the first place, which means discussing their curiosity about or desire for sexual intimacy,” Gacad stressed.

The respondents gave various reasons for their early sexual initiation, ranging from being forced or coerced to “eventually” wanting it. As the research findings pointed out, early sex and teenage pregnancies often occur amid the desire of male partners to have sex and start a family. “Power dynamics are skewed against teen girls or young women when their partners are older and employ a combination of coercive or abusive tactics,” GacadThesaid.interviews also showed that abstinence worked only for partners who were of the same age.

However, she pointed out that the numbers do not fully reveal the situation of teenagers who face unexpected pregnancies.The study, supported by the UP Center for Women's and Gender Studies and Oxfam Pilipinas as part of the Sexual Health and Empowerment Project funded by the Global Affairs Canada, involved interviews with 39 Filipinas aged 15 to 24 years old from different parts of the country. All of the respondents were sexually active, while some were pregnant or had children at the time of the interview.

He founded the Church in which we can have his living teaching, the doctrine of our faith, his presence and continuing work of redemption through the sacraments, especially the Holy Eucharist. And we are helped by the effective witness and intercession of the saints, especially that of our Lady, the Mother of God and our Mother. We should just do our part of sitting down and spending time and effort to study the life and teaching of Christ and of the Church, and to develop a working plan of a life of piety that would help us to nourish our relation with God through prayers and sacrifices, ascetical struggles, recourse to the sacraments, development of virtues, etc. We have to remember that our life ought to be always a life with God through Christ in the Holy Spirit. We have to adapt ourselves to this basic truth of faith about ourselves, because we are notorious in believing that our life is simply our own, and relying only on our own estimation of things. We really need to humble ourselves to accept this truth of our faith, because it is usually our pride that prevents us from realizing this truth. We need to work on our faith in order to keep it alive, vibrant and functional, especially in some difficult if not impossible occasions. We should not be surprised that life and all the challenges and trials we are going to face in it will always demand from us things beyond our powers and resources. And that’s simply because we are meant to go to God for all our needs, without neglecting any effort we can give along the way. Only through God can we know and love everybody and everything else properly.

My wife and I were invited to the VIP section for free. The 300 seating capacity was half-occupied although seats were paid for by the local organizers — presumably, the theater owner. As in any premiere showing in Hollywood for a hyped-up movie, the local premiere was complete with the installed red carpet — where the invited local "who's who" were ushered in to walk through. The movie To make a movie, a script has to be written first. The visual narrative needs to follow the script weaving around the story it intends to portray. The director on the other hand has total control of the making of the film. The film is the director's medium — and does with it whatever he wants — sometimes diverging away from the script or the original intent of the narrative. Often, this creates a conflict between the scriptwriter and the director. Not in this one. Darryl Yap the scriptwriter is also its director and therefore, presumably, should have control of the flow of the narrative, the sequencing and more importantly, its veracity that must contribute overall toward a finished film. In this case the scriptwriter-director needs to be true to his craft and research deeply the story to be depicted. But this movie is more than an art medium. As the executive producer and consultant, Sen. Imee Marcos herself declared: "It's about time we tell our story, too, about what happened in Malacañang ... about what we know ... we're just telling the story we know, from our point of view. We're not changing anything from what they say. We're not revising anything. It's totally inaccurate to say that. We're simply explaining the happenings in our final three days in [the Palace]." He appeared as the bumbling younger brother donning one costume the whole 72 hours, military fatigues — and assigned one dramatic scene with the Apo, that Ambeth Ocampo described as "...a whimpering child of a man desperate for his father's attention and approval..." Even with literary license — the role was most degrading — the future president should not have been depicted this way. Fiction or not, what would Liza say of the whole film? And the actress who hogged the film was Christine Reyes as Imee whom Ambeth Ocampo described "...as a pouting, petulant, entitled b*tch in the opening scene who degenerated into a shrill, hysterical banshee for most of theI'vefilm."met the senator a few times and she struck me as smart, beautiful, possessed of an electric personality who in my opinion is the Marcos who is closer to the mold of the Apo himself — the female Ferdinand.Thefilm as fictionThe film as To be kind and fair, I view her opus "Maid in Malacañang" as a sort of a work of art; overwhelming the scriptwriter-director who may have been too lazy perhaps to produce a documentary film, unable to check his facts and too incompetent to produce a straight fiction. I don't think he went out of his way to peddle lies as truth — unless her pecuniary incentives were just too much. (My brother Cyril, a director-producer and sister Zelmar, a screenwriter, could have done a more professional job.) MnM could be an attempt to be presented as a political satire, a poor one — encapsulated by that mahjong scene with the nuns. The Theological Virtue of Faith by Fr. Roy Cimagala (Cebu)
FAITH is a very rich virtue. Much like the virtue of charity it has many definitions. Faith in God means to believe, to trust and to obey Him. St. Thomas Aquinas calls faith the door to spiritual life. It is the door to our relationship with God. One of the definitions of faith in the Catechism of the Catholic Church states that, “Faith is first of all a personal adherence of man to God. At the same time, and inseparably, it is a free assent to the whole truth that God has revealed. As personal adherence to God and assent to his truth, Christian faith differs from our faith in any human person. It is right and just to entrust oneself wholly to God and to believe absolutely what he says. It would be futile and false to place such faith in a creature (both humans and created things).” (CCC 150) We practice faith in our everyday life and oftentimes we are not aware of it. We have faith in a jeepney driver that he would drive us safely to our intended destination. We have faith in a restaurant where we eat, that the food served is safe to consume. We have faith in our barber or hairdresser, that he or she would cut our hair according to our instructions. Faith is important in our dealings with others otherwise we would not interact with anyone nor go out of the house anymore because we trust no one. Faith in God is not just a belief that He exists because even the demons do that. “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.” (James 2:19) But it is also trusting in God’s goodness who has previously shown love and care for us on many occasions. And it is continually trusting in Him even at times we could not understand what He does in our lives especially when we suffer because we trust that it is for our good (see Romans 8:28). Even without the Bible telling us that God is someone who is good, we could ascertain it from the way the universe was created. The universe was made with order, beauty and with provisions to live in it, such as water, the air we breathe, sources of food, etc. If someone gives you a nice gift or provides you with the basic needs in life you can conclude that this person is good and that he or she loves you and cares for you. After having trusted God as a Person, it will simply follow that we should also trust His teachings. Belief in God’s teachings through the Word of God or the Bible for example does not mean we don’t use our intelligence anymore and just accept all His teachings by heart. An example would be God revealing to us that He is a Being composed of Three Persons, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit which is something we can analyze, appreciate and later on decide to believe or make an act of faith to believe.

I WATCHED the film "Maid in Malacañang" (MnM) at its premiere showing at the Gaisano Theater in Davao City last month. The last time I went to a film premiere was four or five decades ago at Garmon or Galaxy, movie houses that are now defunct. The film, "The Godfather," or was it James Bond's "Goldfinger" — I cannot remember now. It was a one-day screening affair. The movie series was much anticipated that we just had to see the premiere, buying our tickets from scalpers at prices several times over that of the MnMNoNtakilya.oImageImagewasdifferent.
SINCE God is the creator of all things, and the original and ultimate lawgiver, he should know all things and love them in the proper way. As a corollary to that, we can also say that we can only know and love all things properly if we base our knowing and loving on God himself. Otherwise, we would just put ourselves along the paths of error and Somehowimpropriety.weare reminded of this point in that gospel episode where the leading Jews of the time of Christ were always suspicious of him and at one time watched if he would cure somebody with a withered hand on a Sabbath. (cfr. Lk 6,611) That was when Christ made his point when he asked: “Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath rather than to do evil, to save life rather than to destroyWeit?”have to realize then that we cannot simply depend on our human estimation of things based simply on our sciences and technologies, on our feelings and passions, on our different social, political and cultural consensus, etc., though they too are important, but as secondary means of our way of knowing the truth and of loving everyone and everything. We should try our best to know God which should lead us to love him also. By doing so, we would know everybody and everything else properly and to love them properly as well, as a consequence. And knowing and loving God, the pattern of our own knowing and loving, should not be that difficult because these have been shown to us by Christ, the fullness of God’s revelation to us. And Christ continues not only to reveal them to us but also to enable us to do them because of the many instrumentalities he has left behind.
Or God’s teachings on the afterlife of Heaven, Hell and Purgatory that we would have not known unless God revealed these to us. These teachings are not contrary to reason because they appeal to our intellect precisely because they are reasonable or they make sense and because God is the God of Truth or even more accurately, He is Truth Himself (John 14:6). Nevertheless, it would also mean that we could not totally understand these teachings in complete detail in this life because these are mysteries, and can only be fully understood in the next life. Faith comes when we trust what we can’t fully know. Lastly, faith in God also means obedience to Him and to His commandments. Obedience means our faith is not just in words but most importantly in deeds. “As the body without spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.” (James 2:26) God’s Ten Commandments and The Beatitudes are an expression of His character. God’s nature is goodness, kindness, love, justice, mercy, humility, generosity, chastity, etc. The goal is to become like God through obedience (imitating Christ’s obedience to the Father) so as to share in God’s Divine Life partially here on earth and fully later on in heaven. “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1) (ECC)

The ordinance, authored by Board member John Ismael Borgonia, had been certified by Garcia as urgent and shall be applicable to all individuals, residents and non-residents within the province.Theordinance makes it optional for people to wear masks in well-ventilated and open spaces and it is no longer an offense not to wear face masks outdoors.Cebuanos also hailed the law and Garcia and are strongly supporting them. CEBU - The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has considered favorably the debt securities program of Cebu Landmasters, Inc., which looks to raise as much as P8 billion from the first tranche.Inits September 6 meeting, the SEC en banc resolved to render effective the registration statement of Cebu Landmasters covering up to P15 billion of bonds, subject to the company’s compliance with certain remaining requirements.
