Welcome...

One of my favourite visitor attractions in Cornwall is the Eden Project. I remember visiting the year it opened (2001) and being so impressed with the work and vision of Sir Tim Smit KBE, that I’ve been a fan of the project ever since. Check out the article on page 14 for more details and lots of lovely photographs. Subscribe to the iMag... Remember to check out www.ilovelooe.co.uk and subscribe to the iMag if you haven’t already. It contains unique articles not on the website, plus you’ll be first to know when a new issue is out. As always, let me know what you think on Facebook and Twitter. Happy Easter!

Outdoor Biome and gardens

These beautiful, relaxing and ever changing gardens, are a delight to wander around. With various exhibits the gardens explain our use of plants in fuels, medicines and as food. When in bloom the lavender is a perfumed delight, while a giant bee helps to remind us that without them, there would be very few plants and virtually no crops. There is also a brewing display, an exhibit on the importance of hemp, amusements for the kids, myth and folklore stories and for those with green fingers, allotments to inspire.

The Core

This wonderful education centre is full of displays and exhibitions where visitors can get hands on while learning how plants 'work'. Here's a short list exhibits and things to do in The Core:

Cornwall Spring Flower Show 6th – 7th April This colourful and fragrant bonanza of blooms is the perfect way to welcome spring. Held at Boconnoc, near Lostwithiel, the show will be opened by Roy Lancaster, horticulturalist and broadcaster. This very popular event regularly sees 10,000 visitors annually and it's not difficult to see why. With over 100 growers and exhibitors showcasing their products, there are also stunning show gardens to delight in, plus classes and workshops. For those with horticultural problems, the BBC Cornwall Gardenline Team will be present to give tips and advice. For all gardeners, this is one event not to miss.

West Looe May Fayre 4th May Initiated by Edwina Hannaford in 2010, the West Looe May Fayre was originally a concept to promote West Looe's shops and businesses, plus as a way of fundraising for organisations and local groups. Since then, this colourful and well supported event has grown into an important part of the Looe calendar. Locals and visitors flock to see the procession, Maypole dancing and entertainment. For 2013, the West Looe May Fayre has gone one step further with the Pirates of St Piran. This 'motley crew' will entertain with mock sword fights, singing shanties and re-enacting history. This is a marvellous and well supported event which takes a lot of planning and organising. So please support Looe and we'll see you there.

In its second year, the Looe Festival of Food & Drink is all about showcasing the incredibly diverse range of food and drink produced, cooked, caught and reared, right here in Cornwall. All festival goers are invited to sample Cornish teas, coffee, wines, jams, chutneys, seafood and much more. There will be demonstrations by leading chefs, hot and cold food to feast on and recipes to try at home. All this and more in a larger marquee than last year, making visiting easier, especially for wheelchair users. Try the lobster from Nippers Shellfish in Looe. Trust me, it’s amazing.

HHHHH

I am enjoying this app enormously. It is a great place to visit for locals and visitors alike. Whether you are looking for a place to stay, choose from all the fab local restaurants, share local knowledge or promote local business. There are some superb photos showcasing all the events and hotspots of Looe.

Amazing app for Looe

HHHHH

This app is amazing if you live in Looe or if you’re traveling through. It can keep you up to date with the latest info. Most business in Looe are on it with all there contact details!

Impressive app

HHHHH

A common problem with most apps & local sites like this is that they only cover businesses that sponsor them. This Looe app doesn’t rely on that, and really is comprehensive - from my limited knowledge of Looe, all the pubs & shops are included! Really useful guide, recommended.

We travel to our 2nd home in Looe 5 or 6 times a year & although I know the area pretty well, this app is up to date with restaurants, shops, what’s on and tide time tables. Great app to have on the move when out and about. Can thoroughly recommend it.
