The Turks stood behind their democratically elected leader and thwarted a coup attempt by a defiant faction in its military. Nevertheless, show of courage by the people and the democratically elected government was appreciable, indeed. Pro democracy people all over the world feel delighted as the coup attempt in Turkey was foiled. As expected, ‘people’s will’ prevailed which proves democracy is the way forward. Certainly, by standing up against the evil forces to express their support and commitment to democracy, the brave people of Turkey have established that the “sovereign-will of people cannot be ridiculed.” On the other hand, unlike Turkey, Pakistan has been suffering from the ‘mega-illegitimacy’ throughout its stained history. Civil rule based on rigged elections followed by the military take-overs has been at play. The apex court in the past was notoriously issuing validation stickers to the unlawful military regimes that were responsible for generating sham parliaments to befool people. Illegitimate ways including the rigged elections were commonly employed during military rule or the military generated civil rule, however, the fact is military take-overs did happen not without Pakistani people’s backing. Things are different now, Pak army stays by the law and constitution despite the civil rule continues to deteriorate. But there is a limit, and the people of Pakistan are now strongly wishing for the non democratic take over. What if such a situation arises in Pakistan, will the people come out on the streets to save Nawaz? Answer is simple: “Democracy in Pakistan is not threatened by the army but by the civil rulers who have not been able to give financial prosperity to their people yet.

Reason is Erdogan’s economic policies are loved by people of Turkey; that is why they rescued him during the attempted coup. It’s exhilarating to see people of Turkey come out fearlessly on streets in defence of democracy. We can recall Nawaz made a deal and left Pakistan after the October 1999 coup. Hence, there is no comparison of Pak rulers with Erdogan. Solid facts: For more than a decade, the ruling party in Turkey has offered the Muslim world a model of economic prosperity and democratic governance. As a consequence, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has become a source of inspiration for many Islamist parties and movements across the Muslim world in their attempt to assume power in key countries. The failed coup attempt came at a time the Turkish government is simultaneously fighting two terrorist groups: Daesh and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a separatist group that has been battling the central government since the middle of the 1980s. For this reason, the timing of the coup could not have been more critical. However, the Turkish people moved swiftly to stand with the legitimate government. Proof needed: Whether Erdogan’s accusations of Gulen are based on solid intelligence or not is to be seen. Besides, purging thousands of his opponents may create some rifts in the society as a whole. Erdogan seeks to bring about a constitutional change to institute a presidential rather than a parliamentarian system in the country. Erdogan says the military will be subjected to a further purge and in the meantime, the government has authorized mass arrests of generals, highranking officers and soldiers; 2,839 in total. Some 2,745 judges have been sacked. Erdogan has pledged

France has now opened a terrorism investigation. ISCC, MAT and the Canadian Muslims condemn in the strongest words today’s terrorist attack in Nice, France. Our deep condolences and sympathies are with the victims and their families. ISCC, MAT and the Muslims of Canada stand in solidarity with the people
Responding to the criticism: Yildirim said the plotters would be brought to account but Turkey would “act within the law”. EU foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini said, “Let me be very clear... no country can become an EU state if it introduces the death penalty.” Anadolu published pictures of the arrest of former air force commander Akin Ozturk, who was described as the main plotter of the rebellion, bent forwards, facing a wall with hands tied behind his back. Turkish prosecutors also have started questioning 27 generals and admirals over the failed coup attempt, the state-run media reported. Anadolu said the group includes Akin Ozturk, who has been described as the ringleader of the foiled uprising and also confessing to his role in the rebellion. Meanwhile, the Turkish government ordered police forces around the country to down any helicopters without warning while President Erdogan said he ordered all the country’s F-16 jet planes to patrol the country’s airspace. Pak-Turkey friendship: Turkish leaders past and present, AKP and otherwise, have stood by Pakistan, and their objective has been that any material, technological, economic, and political support for Pakistan should assist in its automatic progression. Pakistan therefore has a vital stake in Turkey, its stability and its continued progress of course. Message is loud and clear: ‘Not bullet but ballot’ is the way forward. Furthermore, there is no such thing as democratic dictatorship. Experience confirms genuine democracy produces genuine leadership. Sources: Thenews.com.pk, dawn. com, nation.com.pk, arabnews.com

to “exact the highest price” from the perpetrators. President Erdogan’s popularity has once again soared. Democracy has been preserved and the Turkish leader has proved to be invincible against both opposition parties and disgruntled military chiefs. The coup attempt has handed him every justification to weed out “traitors” wherever they may be and to expand presidential powers. Meanwhile, Turkey’s Western allies have warned against reinstating the death penalty. The United States and European Union have sternly warned Erdogan against excessive retribution. German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s spokesman denounced “revolting scenes of caprice and revenge against soldiers on the streets” after disturbing pictures emerged of the treatment of some detained suspects. The authorities have also detained General Mehmet Disli, who conducted the operation to capture chief-of-staff Hulusi Akar during the stand-off, an official said. Standards of respect for the nation’s democratic institutions and the rule of law,” US Secretary of State John Kerry told reporters after talks with EU foreign ministers. Turkey has detained a total of 112 generals and admirals and thousands of judges besides suspending 8,000 policemen in the wake of the failed coup aimed at overthrowing President Erdogan, state media said on last week. Anadolu news agency quoting the interior ministry said 9,000 officials have been dismissed so far. A total of 8,777 public personnel, including 7,899 police, one provincial governor and 29 governors of towns have been dismissed, the ministry said. They also include 614 members of the police force that looks after domestic security, it added.

of France. We request the government of France to investigate today’s terrorist attacks in Nice and bring every person to justice who is involved in these crimes. It should not be difficult for the investigators to find out who were behind these attacks? Who provided the weapons, money, and the training? Who inspired the killer? Who and what brainwashed the killer? What sect the killers belonged to? “Unfortunately, these terrorist attacks will continue and grow unless all governments sincerely and honestly investigate these crimes and go to the bottom of this mess”, said Imam Syed Soharwardy today. On July 20th, families across Canada will receive their first Canada Child Benefit cheque. While certain families will receive more assistance than they have in the past, others will receive less and perhaps most concerning, families who are counting on this assistance will be shocked to learn that they potentially don’t qualify for the level of support they had been lead to believe. That’s because the Canada Child Benefit (CCB), unlike the Universal Child Care Benefit which provided stable support to all families, is based on your previous year’s income. Canadians who have been laid off in the last six months or had their hours reduced won’t qualify for the maximum benefit this year, regardless of the fact that their families are struggling to make ends meet. As the Toronto Sun reported on June 30th, “The mismatch between income and the brand new Canada Child Benefit is one of the new plan’s biggest defects.” For the past eight months, the Liberal government’s ‘solution’ to every eco-
nomic issue in Canada has been “the brand new Canada Child Benefit.” Canadians looking for work, families struggling to pay for childcare or extracurricular activities, and parents trying to save for their children’s futures are expecting the government to deliver. The sad reality is though, that far too many families are not going to get the financial support they need when it matters the most. Statistics Canada studies indicate that as many as 2.4 million families will see their household income drop this year by 10% or more compared to last year. Unfortunately, the Liberal government’s plan doesn’t take that into account. Conservatives believe in supporting hardworking Canadian families and ensuring that they get to keep more of their hard earned money to spend on their priorities. That is why we increased and expanded the Universal Child Care Benefit, introduced the Family Tax Cut, increased the Child Care Expense Deduction, doubled the Children’s Fitness Tax Credit and established the Children’s Art Tax Credit. Sadly, the Liberal government cancelled all of these initiatives. Canadian families deserve better.

Indian security forces on Wednesday removed dozens of black and Pakistani flags in India-held Kashmir hoisted by residents observing a “black day” on the call of the Pakistani government to protest the killing of a top pro-independence commander.Indian administration feared fresh trouble in the tense region after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif called for observing a “black day” to express solidarity with “Kashmiris facing atrocities at the hands of Indian forces”. In a statement, Nawaz said, “India should realise that when people decide to do something, the weapons cannot stop their way.” Rubbishing Indian claim of Kashmir being its internal matter, Nawaz said: “Kashmir cannot be accepted as an internal matter of India as it has been declared a disputed territory by the United Nations.”The largest street protests in recent years erupted after Indian troops on July 8 killed Burhan Wani, the popular 22-yearold commander of Hizbul Mujahideen. Police and paramilitary soldiers in riot gear enforced a strict curfew for the 12th straight day on Wednesday as life remained paralysed and streets deserted in the region. Responding to Nawaz’s appeal, rallies were organised across the country condemning human rights violations by Indian security forces in held Kashmir. Nawaz said India had promised the world to hold a plebiscite in Kashmir, but such a commitment was yet to be honoured. Earlier, India’s External Affairs Ministry responded to Pakistan’s call for a “black day” by saying Islamabad should stop “interfering in India’s internal affairs and destabilising the situation”. During the recent protests, clashes between the Indian forces and Kashmiris have left at least 47 people, mostly teens and young men, dead. Hundreds of volunteers and people attending to the injured in the hospital gathered outside on the main road
and offered prayers before his body was taken to his village for burial. They raised anti-India, pro-Pakistan and pro-freedom slogans. Virtually no information was coming from most parts of Indian-held Kashmir, especially in the south where most of the killings have occurred, as cellular and internet services remained suspended. Newspapers were forced to stop printing and access to landline connections was limited, except in Srinagar. The black day was also observed in Pakistan to express solidarity with the Kashmiris and protest rights violations by the Indian forces in Occupied Kashmir. The federal government had directed all its ministries and divisions as well as provincial governments to mark Wednesday as a black day. Rallies and functions were arranged all over the country and Azad Kashmir to draw attention of the world community towards the burning issue of Kashmir. Officials of federal and provincial governments wore black armbands to denounce Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir and express solidarity with the Kashmiris. People prayed for the martyrs of Kashmir at special ceremonies. Pakistani missions abroad briefed the media as well as caucuses about the Kashmir issue. In many big cities banners were displayed at prominent places inscribed with slogans in favour of the Kashmir freedom movement. These banners carried slogans such as “down with Indian occupation”, “stop atrocities against Kashmiris”, “grant right of self-determination to Kashmiris” and “international community should take notice of human rights violations in Indian-Occupied Kashmir”. They condemned the human rights violations in Kashmir and demanded implementation of the UN resolutions on Kashmir. Source: Daily times Pakistan
After over two-and-a-half years, the trial of former military ruler retired Gen Pervez Musharraf in the high treason case has reached a dead end, as the special court linked its continuity with the presence of the accused. The three-judge special court, headed by Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel, the chief justice of Peshawar High Court (PHC), on Tuesday observed: “The proceeding (in high treason case) is adjourned till the surrender of the accused person (Gen Musharraf) or till the time he is brought before the special court.”Arfan Ahmed Khan Niazi Advocate, who deals with criminal cases, told Dawn that technically the treason trial hit a stalemate as there was no other option left with the court to continue it in the absence of the sole accused. He said in such a situation, the court adjourns the proceedings sine die. In the legal term, a sine die adjournment means “without assigning a day for a further meeting or hearing.” According to Senator Farhatullah Babar, the treason case went haywire the day Gen Musharraf’s motorcade, instead of coming to the special court in Islamabad, suddenly turned towards Rawalpindi where he was given protection by a government hospital, and the court had to watch the development. The former military ruler was charged with the high treason in December 2013. He was indicted in the case on March 31, 2014. The trial remained suspended after the special court in November 2014 ordered a reinvestigation into the case to identify any abettors in the imposition of an emergency in November 2007, specifically the role of
the then law minister, Zahid Hamid, who is enjoying the same portfolio in the incumbent government, former chief justice of Pakistan Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar and exprime minister Shaukat Aziz. The trial in the case resumed earlier this year on the directions of the Supreme Court. The apex court, on the other hand, allowed Gen Musharraf to get cardiac treatment abroad and subsequently he left for Dubai in March this year. During the Tuesday proceedings, the special court rejected an option to resume the trial even in the absence of the former military dictator besides dismissing the suggestion of the prosecution to testify Gen Musharraf through a video link. After Mohammad Akram Sheikh, the head of the prosecution in the high treason case, concluded his argument over the continuity of the trial in the absence of Gen Musharraf, the special court observed: “We are of the opinion that unless the statement of the accused person is recorded under section 342 of the CrPC, we cannot proceed further.”Justice Miankhel added: “We are of the opinion that under the CrPC the court cannot proceed against the accused person in absentia…statement of the accused cannot be recorded through Skype as well.” At this, Justice Yawar Ali of the Lahore High Court (LHC) remarked that the secretary interior, who was also the complainant against Gen Musharraf in the treason case, had removed his name from the ECL. Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has made it clear that the special policing powers granted to the Rangers will be exclusive for Karachi and not apply to the entire province. He was speaking to the media after chairing a law and order meeting at the Commissioner Office, Larkana on Tuesday evening.Talking about the grant of extension in the Rangers’ policing powers, he said that he alone cannot take the decision and the party leadership will be consulted before. Shah clarified that Rangers have been given special powers for Karachi alone, adding that no powers have been given to them to act in other parts of the province. Referring to his meeting with the Rangers director-general in Karachi recently, he said that the Rangers had demanded that [suspected criminal] Asad Kharal be handed over to them and not home minister Sohail Anwar Sial’s younger

brother, Tariq Sial. Talking about the episode of Kharal’s attempted arrest and then ‘aided’ escape, the chief minister said the inquiry will reveal who crossed the limits. He stressed that Rangers’ personnel were given a mandate to work against four types of crimes in Karachi: terrorism, extortion, kidnapping and targeted killing. Without mentioning any special incident, he said that all the institutions should work within the allowed parameters. Rangers vow indiscriminate action in Karachi. Shah went on to deny the presence of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan or their facilitators in interior Sindh, citing that so far no big incidents have taken place in the province except for the two attacks of Shikarpur and Jacobabad. Replying to a question about Pakistan Peoples Party leader Qadir Patel’s escape from the anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi on Tuesday, the chief

The six richest countries - which make up more than half the global economy - host less than nine percent of the world’s refugees, an aid group has said. The United States, China, Japan, Germany, France and the United Kingdom hosted 2.1 million refugees and asylum seekers last year - just 8.88 percent of the global total, the report from the Britain-based Oxfam said. Poorer countries, in contrast, have accommodated most of those looking for save havens, Oxfam said. “Jordan, Turkey, Pakistan, Lebanon, South Africa as well as the Occupied Palestinian Territory host over 50 percent of the world’s refugees and asylum seekers but account for under two percent of the world’s economy,” it said. “While Germany has recently welcomed far more refugees than the other of the wealthiest nations, there still remains a major gap with poorer countries providing the vast majority of safe havens for refugees.” Oxfam called on governments to host more refugees and to give more help to countries sheltering the majority of them - ahead of two major summits about refugees and so-called economic migrants in the US in September. “It is shameful so many governments are turning their backs on the suffering of millions of vulnerable people who have fled their homes and are often risking their lives to reach safety,” Winnie Byanyima, the executive director of

Republicans moved past party divisions today to formally appoint Donald Trump as the party’s presidential nominee on the second day of the convention in Cleveland, Ohio. The states overwhelmingly pledged their delegates to the “next president of the United States of America,” Donald J. Trump. “Donald Trump is the singular leader that can get this county back on track,” said Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions just before formally submitting the candidate’s name. New York Congressman Chris Collins seconded the nomination, saying: “Donald Trump is not merely a candidate, Donald Trump is a movement.” Donald Trump Jr. declared the delegate numbers for Trump’s home state of New York, which gave his father the final votes needed to clinch the nomination. The younger Trump told the convention that New York was casting 89 votes for Trump and six for Ohio Gov. John Kasich. He then shouted out: “Congratulations, Dad, we love you.” Donald Jr. said he’s watched as his father has built a movement and said that movement has given Americans a voice again. Donald Jr. and Tiffany Trump, daughter of Donald Trump and Marla Maples, are scheduled to speak at the convention Tuesday evening. Also on the convention floor were some of Donald Trump’s other children, including Eric Trump and Ivanka Trump. Delegates on the floor broke into cheers and waved signs as the songNew York, New York played in the arena. After the presidential vote, the convention by voice-vote nominated Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, 57, Trump’s choice for his vice-presidential running mate. Trump, a real estate developer and former reality TV star who has never held elected office, is trailing his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in many polls after a bruising Republican primary season. Soon after the roll call vote at the convention concluded, Clinton
tweeted her response: “Donald Trump just became the Republican nominee. Chip in now to make sure he never steps foot in the Oval Office.” She then posted a clip of herself speaking about Trump on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Not every Republican activist was excited to see that Trump has clinched the party’s presidential nomination. Colorado delegate Kendal Unruh said it’s time to “cancel the convention, stop the sham.” She said Trump has worked to crown himself king. Unruh is warning there could be drama and a “show of displeasure” coming on Thursday when Trump is set to speak at the convention. Colorado cast most of its votes for Cruz. Trump’s nomination was bolstered by endorsements from party stalwarts like N.J. Gov. Chris Christie and House Speaker Paul Ryan.Ryan, the top U.S. elected Republican, who are both scheduled to speak at the convention Tuesday evening. Also expected to take the stage are Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, one-time presidential hopeful Dr. Ben Carson and professional golfer Natalie Gulbis Both Ryan and McConnell need Trump to do well in the November election as they seek to preserve majorities in Congress. The theme of Tuesday’s convention event was entitled “Make America Work Again,” and speakers were to take aim at President Barack Obama’s record on the economy. Source: CBC News
At least 56 civilians, including 11 children, have been killed in US-led air strikes against areas in Syria held by the Islamic State of Syria and the Levant group (ISIL, also known as ISIS), a monitoring group said. Al Jazeera’s Rosiland Jordan, reporting from Washinton, said that at least one town near the city of Manbij was allegedly hit by a coalition strike and that many of the casualties were reportedly women and children. “The US central command has confirmed to Al Jazeera that it was conducting air strikes in the area and says it needs to investigate allegations of whether civilians were injured or killed in this incident.” Director of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights Rami Abdel-Rahman told DPA news agency: “We believe that the raids which were carried out Tuesday were by US [or] allied planes, but it was by mistake.” Residents in the area say the death told could be upwards of 200. “It seems that the Syrian Democratic Forces under the leadership of the International coalition which is in charge of planning have decided to adopt a scorched earth policy,” Hasan al-Nifi, a community leader in Mabij, told Al Jazeera. “Manbij is full of residents, a quarter of a million residents, used by ISIL as human shields. Yesterday the coalition struck Al Zahuna neighbourhood, where more than 23 people were killed. Then it struck the western gate of the city, killing 6 people. Today the residents of Toka woke to a horrific massacre. The death toll rose to 212 and the numbers are rising.” The Manbij area has seen intense US-led airstrikes in support of Kurdish-led forces who are trying to seize the city from ISIL, so as to block the armed group’s access to the nearby Turkish border. The Observatory on Monday said that 104 civilians had been killed in airstrikes since the Democratic Forces of Syria (DFS) launched their campaign in the area at the end of May. There was no immediate comment from the coalition, the Associated Press reported. The SDF, an alliance of Arab and Kurdish fighters backed by the
US, launched an offensive against ISIL to retake the city of Manbij late last month. They have besieged the town and are advancing to the city centre under the cover of air strikes by the US-led international coalition. ISIL has held the city since 2014, the year that the armed group seized control of large parts of Syria and neighbouring Iraq and declared its “caliphate”. Also on Monday, Chris Gunness, spokesman for the United Nations agency that supports Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), said a driver who works for the agency in Syria was killed after suffering a shrapnel wound in the northern city of Aleppo. Gunness said Yaser Mahmoud Shuaeeb, a 45-year-old father of six children, died on Sunday. Aleppo has witnessed some of the worst fighting in Syria over the past months. On Sunday, government forces besieged rebel-held neighbourhoods of the contested city. Gunness said that UNRWA reported two other incidents on Sunday. In one, a mortar shell landed 600 metres from the UN agency’s office in Damascus. In the other, a missile hit close to the Nairab refugee camp south of Aleppo. The incidents caused no injuries, he said. The death toll in the Syrian conflict, which began with mostly unarmed demonstrations against President Bashar al-Assad in March 2011, has risen to more than 280,000 people, while half the country’s population have been forced from their homes, according to UN estimates. F A I T H Abu Bakrah (R), stated that the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) said:“The year is twelve months of which four are sacred, the three consecutive months of Dhul Qadah, Dhu’l-Hijjah and Muharram, and Rajab which comes between Jumada and Sha’ban.”
How to benefit from the Qur’an
By:Abu Rumaysah Refi Shafi f you truly want to benefit from the Qur’an, your heart must be attentive and alert when reciting it or listening to it. Listen to it carefully with presence of mind, paying attention to it as if Allah Himself was speaking to you directly. Understand that this Qur’an is an address directed to you from Allah, Most High, upon the tongue of His Messenger (peace be upon him). Allah, Most High, says, “Truly there is a reminder in this for anyone who has a heart, or who listens attentively with presence of mind.” (Qur’an, 50:37) (Qur’an, 36:69-70) A deep and lasting impression is dependant upon something that will stimulate a person, a location that can be influenced, his being in the right condition, and removing any barrier that would impede this from happening. This verse mentions of all of these in the most succinct and lucid of ways; clearly articulating the intended meaning. “Truly there is a reminder in this” refers to the previous verses of this chapter. This, the Qur’an, is the stimulus. “for anyone who has a heart” refers to the location that can be influenced. The heart referred to here is the living heart: the heart that is aware of Allah. He, Most High, says, “it is simply a reminder and a clear Qur’an so that you may warn those who are truly alive,” (Qur’an, 36:69-70) i.e. those whose hearts are alive. “or who listens attentively,” i.e. directs his
faculty of hearing toward it and pays it the utmost attention. This is the condition that must exist for a person to be roused by the words. “with presence of mind,” i.e. with an alert and present heart, not one that is unmindful and absent. Ibn Qutaybah said, “i.e. a person who listens attentively to Allah’s Book with presence of heart and mind, not someone who is unmindful with an absent air.” (Ibn Qutaybah, Gharibu’l-Qur’an, pg. 419) This then alludes to the barrier: an unmindful and inattentive heart which does not understand what is being said and, as such, is unable to reflect upon it or direct any conscious thought toward it. Therefore, if all these things come together, the end-result is obtained: benefiting from the Qur’an and taking heed. If someone were to ask: If the end-result, the lasting impression, is only attained by the combination of these matters, why then did Allah say “or” in the verse, “or who listens attentively” which implies a choice between one or another option? Surely “and” should have been mentioned in its place? It is said in reply: this is a good question; “or” has been mentioned by taking into consideration the state of the addressee. Some people have hearts which are alive, hearts that will readily accept the truth and whose innate nature (fitrah) is intact; if such a person was to reflect in his very heart and turn his mind to it, he would conclude that the Qur’an is authentic and true. His heart would witness what the Qur’an informs it of and the subsequent impression upon it would be light layered on top of the light of its innate nature. This is the description of those about whom it is said, “those who
By Madiha Khan Dhul Qadah is the second last month of Islamic calendar. It is taken from the word “Qa’ada” which means to sit. This is the third holy month in which battling was illegal. The individuals additionally used to stop their personal and business activities amid this month and sit and get ready for the Hajj (Pilgrimage). This is additionally a sacred month. Indeed, the number of months with Allāh is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allāh [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth… [Al-Tauba:36] Shaikh Sayyiduna Abdul Qadir Jilani (May Allah be pleased with him) said in his book: “The number of months in the sight of Allah is 12 months. These months were already inscribed in the “Book of Almighty Allah”, that is, on the Well-Kept Tablet [al-lawh al-Mah-
fuz] – “on the day when He created the heavens and the earth; four of them are sacred… ”Events Occur in Dhul Qadah month: In the year 5 A.H, The battle of Khandaq and Ahzab took place. In the year 6 A.H, Truce of Hudaubiyah and Bay’at-e-Rizwaan’ In the year 7 A.H, The Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W) and his Companions came to Makkah to perform Umrah. Some false convictions are joined to this month by oblivious individuals. They say that this month is not a favored month; accordingly, relational unions ought not to be held or solemnized in the month of Dhul Qadah. As indicated by them, a marriage held in this month may not be fruitful; rather it may convey trouble to the husbands. This conviction is completely ridiculous. A

have been given knowledge see that what has been sent down to you from your Lord is the truth.” (Qur’an, 34:6) Concerning them, Allah says, “Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The metaphor of His light is that of a niche in which there is a lamp, the lamp inside a glass, the glass like a brilliant start, lit from a blessed tree, an olive, neither of the east nor the west, its oil all but giving off light even if no fire touches it. Light upon light! Allah guides to His Light whoever He wills, Allah propounds metaphors for mankind and Allah has knowledge of all things.” (Qur’an, 24:35) This verse refers to the light of the innate nature covered by the light of revelation; this is the condition of the person who has a living, receiving heart. We have explained this verse, its subtleties and lessons in detail in our book, Ijtima Al-Juyush Al-Islamiyyah Ala Ghazw Al-Muattila Wal-Jahmiyyah. (Ibn Al-Qayyim, Ijtima, pp. 6-12) Therefore, the person who has this type of attentive heart receives the meanings of the Qur’an and readily accepts them so much so that it seems as if the words have been inscribed in his heart and he is able to recite them fluidly from memory. Other people have hearts which fall below Muslim ought to never go to such superstitious impulses. Truth be told, the month is one of the purified months, as said prior. It is narrated by Anas (R) that Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W) performed three Umrah in this month. He performed one Umra from Al Hudaibiya in Dhul Qadah, another Umra in this year “Dhul Qadah” a third from Al-Jirana where he distributed the war booty of Hunain, in Dhul Qadah. In the last month “Dhul Hijja” of the Islamic calendar, he performed Hajj. The Importance of 25th Dhul Qadah: The night of 25th Dhul Qadah is called laylat dahw al-arz. The history of this night is that on this night, the earth was extended on the water where the Holy Kaba is situated. At this night, the blessings of Allah Almighty is poured on people. Many people pray at this night and Allah Almighty is given reward who practice acts of worship. It is narrated that someone who fasting on this day is equal to seventyyear fasting. It also erases the sins of seventy
the level of those mentioned above; their hearts are not as ready to receive the truth, they are not completely alive, and their innate nature is not as refined. Therefore, they stand in need of a witness who would differentiate the truth from falsehood for them. In order to be guided, such a person must pay the utmost attention to the Qur’an’s words, he must devote his heart to it, ponder it and comprehend its meanings, and only after this will he come to realize that it is true. The first type of person sees the truth of what he is invited to and informed of with his own eyes. The second type of person has learned that it is the truth, has certainty in it and is satisfied. The first has attained the ranking of beneficence, ihsan and the second has attained the ranking of faith, iman. The first has attained Ilm Al-yaqin from which his heart has ascended to the degree of Ayn Al-yaqin. The second has acquired that level of unwavering belief which takes him out of the fold of disbelief and into the fold of Islam. (i.e. he has acquired the station of Ilm Al-Yaqin) Ayn Al-Yaqin is of two categories: What is acquired in this world and what is acquired in the Hereafter. In this world it is to the heart what the beheld is to the eye. All the matters of the unseen that the Messengers informed us of will be seen by the eye in the Hereafter and the inner sight in this world; in both cases, this is Ayn Al-yaqin. Source : Arabnews years. It is also narrated that worship at this night is equal to hundred of worship. On this day, Recite Surah Al Fatiha one time and Surah Shams five times.Amir al Muminin Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (A.S.) said: “The first mercy descended from heaven towards Earth on 25th day of Dhul Qadah. One who fast on this day and perform prayers in the night shall be rewarded for hundred years of worship. And if a group of people gather at a place in remembrance of Allah the Almighty, their prayers will be answered before they disperse. On this day thousands & thousands of mercy descends (on earth) and 99% of mercy is bestowed upon those people (who keep themselves busy) in remembrance of Allah, fast on this day, and performs prayers in its night.” It is the great month, So we as a Muslims should pray on this Dhul Qadah month as much as we can to obtain the blessings of God.

Eid prayer by Richmond Jameh Masjid in Minoru Park
The Richmond Branch of the BC Muslim Association held its Eid al-Fitr prayers at Minoru Park in downtown Richmond on Wednesday, July 6th. It was the first time the Eid prayers were held at an outdoor venue other than the Richmond mosque complex; and, judging by the large turnout and festive atmosphere, it was a tremendous success. Well-known local imam, Shaykh Abu Abdussalaam led the Salaah and delivered an amazing khutba to the gathered crowd of approximately 2,000 people. ‘Eid in the Park’ also featured an interactive Kids’ Zone with activities, free face painting and ‘Eidi’ goody bags. The event was marked by speeches from several local politicians, including Joe Peschisolido, Member of Parliament for Richmond, who delivered a greeting message from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau; and Ralph Sultan, Member of the Legislative Assembly for the community of West Vancouver-Capilano, who expressed best wishes from BC Premier Christy Clark. Several RCMP officers mingled with the crowd for pictures while ensuring the safety of the attendees. EID-ul-FITR Celebrated by Pakistan Canada Association (PCA)
July 10th, will forever be marked as the day a sitting Premier of British Columbia celebrated Eid with the Pakistani Community of the Lower Mainland. Pakistan-Canada Association proudly hosted a celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr with Chief Guest Premier Christy Clark. The event was sold out before it began thanks to the strong support of the Pakistani Community. A video homage to the late Muhammad Ali and late Abdul Sattar Edhi Sahib began the evening festivities. A poignant Quran recitation and Du’a for Edhi Sahib was conducted by our very own Haji Naumani Sahib. Children from the Tri-Cities Pakistan Club graced our stage with a heartfelt rendition of Jasba Junoon followed by a mini Mushaira. A big thank you to the Tri-Cities Pakistan Club for their participation. Islamic Trust Chairman Ihsan Malik welcomed the capacity crowd by highlighting PCA’s efforts during Ramadan highlighted by our 10th Ramadan Spirit Campaign. Consul General Dr. Mohd. Tariq conveyed his good wishes and encouraged further participation and community engagement. President Haroon Khan, in attendance despite a tragic loss for the Khan family, spoke from the heart speaking about his late nephew Shahzad Khan and the indomitable spirit of care and giving displayed by him. The audience was swept away by Haroon’s passion and power. A small pause in the event allowed all in attendance to prepare for the arrival of our Premier. President Haroon Khan once again arose and introduced Premier Clark as she entered the Taj Park Convention Center. Flanked by the Pakistani Community the Premier made her way to the stage where she delivered an impassioned speech highlighted by her appreciation for the contribution of the Muslim Community and how bridges should be built instead of walls. The Premier was then presented with a gift of a traditional shawl on behalf of Pakistan-Canada Association presented
by Vice President Shaukat Khan along with thanks for her attendance. The Premier then went table to table meeting the community only stopping for conversation and photographs. Those in attendance were all provided an opportunity to meet the Premier, as difficult as it may have been to break through the circle of well-wishers. The Premier’s departure only marked the midway point of the evening’s program as dinner was promptly served. Acknowledgment of community members Laila Akbar Hussain, seeking the NDP nomination in Surrey-Whiterock, and Sikander Hayat, seeking the Liberal nomination for Surrey-Newton, were made by Master of Ceremonies Raza Mirani. Mr. Mirani introduced both candidates highlighting their past contributions and encouraging community support for both potential candidates. After an impromptu singing of Happy Birthday by Raza Mirani and co-MC Adeel Hussain our main event began. Sur Taal, a band brought together by the Canada Urdu Association, took the stage and thundered through a full 2-hour set of Pakistani classics and hits. Local singer Sharan Kaur made her debut performance and mesmerized the audience. Songs from Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Noor Jehan and Amjad Sabri soothed the artistic soul of the audience and capped off a historic event for the Pakistani community. Pakistan-Canada Association made its triumphant return to center stage and we could not be more pleased with the results. A big thank you to our sponsors Pak National Foods, Diamond Carpets, Realtors Ashraf Maitla and Waseem Afzal and Ke Cabinets. Thank you to MP’s Joe Peschisolido, Sukh Dhaliwal and Randeep Sarai, MLA’s Amrik Virk, Peter Fassbender, Harry Bains and Bruce Ralston for their attendance. Finally a big thank you to everyone that joined us and made this event a highlight for us all.

Meet the Pakistani hacker 3rd among the world’s top bug hunters A Pakistani stani hacker has been ranked the third most accomplished bug hunter in the world by Dark Reading, a cyber security news site. A Multan native, Shahmir Amir has also been dubbed the 11th most top-rated hacker in the world by HackerOne, a vulnerability disclosure company in California. But it’s not just fancy titles. Amir has raked in $150,000 by reporting bugs, or flaws in a computer program or system, to more than 300 organisations around the world including tech giants such as Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, Twitter, LinkedIn and Dropbox, all in a span of two years. Starting out The 21-year-old attributes his success to his
curiosity with computers and technology. In an interview with ProPakistani, he remembers his Pentium 3 computer that he used to have as a child, one that would continuously have issues. Amir’s solutions usually consisted of a quick Google search and trying his own hand at the problem, a practice that would later hone his technical problem solving skills. Amir’s defining moment came in the form of a seminar conducted at his university about cyber security. It was then that he started his formal research, using online tools and resources to help him understand more about this field that had long piqued his interest. Hard work and unrelenting motivation even-
tually lead him down the rabbit hole and in into the world of white hat hacking. Is white hacking ethical? Yes, it most certainly is. According to Amir, his role is to identify security risks in emerging products and services, whereupon he informs the manufacturers so that the issue can be resolved. As an information vulnerability researcher, companies acknowledge his work and even pay him generous bounties for doing so. Amir is currently based in Lahore, managing his own cyber security startup, Cyphlon, with his own team of six individuals, lead by Plan9 of the Punjab Information Technology Board. He has also been invited to Las Vegas, Nevada to attend
Twitter, Facebook move quickly to stem celebrations of Nice attack
Twitter Inc moved swiftly to remove posts glorifying a truck attack in Nice, France, watchdog groups said on Friday, in a rare round of praise for a platform that has often struggled to contain violent propaganda. A spate of violence over the past several months has posed numerous challenges to social media companies.Friday´s unsuccessful military coup in Turkey was marked first by restrictions on social media, internet monitoring groups said, but the crackdown appeared to ease as the events unfolded and numerous citizens broadcast live video on Facebook and sent tweets.U.S. and French authorities on Friday were still trying to determine whether the Tunisian man who drove a truck into Bastille Day crowds on Thursday, killing 84 people, had ties to Islamic militants. At least 50 Twitter accounts praising the attacks used the hashtag Nice in
Arabic, according to the Counter Extremism Project, a private group that monitors and reports extremist content online. Many accounts appeared almost immediately after the attack and shared images praising the carnage, the group said. The pattern was similar to what was seen on Twitter after attacks last year and earlier this year in Paris and Brussels. But Twitter, which once took a purist approach to free speech but has since revised its rules, took action much more quickly this week. Twitter has always had policies banning violent content, such as advocacy of terrorism, and recently made them more explicit. “Twitter moved with swiftness we have not seen before to erase pro-attack tweets within minutes,” Counter Extremism Project said in a statement. “It was the first time Twitter has reacted so efficiently. “Rabbi Abraham Cooper, head of
Terthe Simon Wiesenthal Center´s Digital T rorism and Hate project, also said Twitter had responded with unusual alacrity. Twitter did not provide any information about account suspensions, but said in a statement that it condemns terrorism and bans it on its site. Twitter, Facebook Inc and other internet firms have ramped up their efforts over the past two years to quickly remove violent propaganda that violates their terms of service. Both companies continue to face major challenges in distinguishing between graphic images that are shared to glorify or celebrate attacks and those shared by witnesses who are documenting events. Facebook´s “community standards” dictate what types of content are and are not allowed on the platform. Those standards explicitly ban “terrorism” and related content, such as posts or images that celebrate attacks or pro-

Facebook, like most large internet companies, relies on users and eagle-eyed advocacy groups to report objectionable content to teams of human editors, who then review each submission and decide whether a post should be deleted. At Facebook, those reviewers receive more specific guidance beyond the public community standards when it comes to deciding what to do with reported graphic images, a spokeswoman said. But she declined to elaborate on the company´s criteria. “One of the most sensitive situations involves people sharing violent or graphic images of events taking place in the real world. Turkey: Work travel ban on US goes after $1bn in assets academics after failed coup from Malaysia’s 1MDB
Temporary ban on travel due to ight risk of alleged accomplices of coup plotters, Turkish oďŹƒcial tells Al Jazeera. Turkey’s higher education council has banned academics from leaving the country for academic purposes and urged those overseas to quickly return home, according to state media and a Turkish oďŹƒcial. “It is a temporary measure that we were compelled to take due to the ight risk of alleged accomplices of coup plotters in universities,â€? a Turkish oďŹƒcial, who asked to remain anonymous, told Al Jazeera on Wednesday. “Universities have always been crucial for military juntas in Turkey, and certain individuals are believed to be in contact with cells within the military,â€? the oďŹƒcial said. The decision to restrict academics working for Turkish universities from travelling comes as the government engages in a widespread crackdown on bureaucrats suspected of being involved in last Friday’s attempted coup. Thousands of people in the judiciary, police forces and military have been sacked or detained. At least 290 people, including plotters, died after rebel soldiers attempted to overthrow the government on Friday night, bombing state buildings and killing civilians and security forces.
Sackings and suspensions
The travel ban on academics follows a day after the higher education council demanded the resignation of 1,577 deans at universities across the country. In a separate move on Tuesday, the education ministry also revoked the licences of 21,000 teachers working in private institutions. The government also suspended 15,200 state education employees. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has accused exiled Turkish businessman and cleric Fethullah Gulen of orchestrating the attempted coup and is demanding that the US extradite him. Gulen lives in Pennsylvania but retains vast interests in Turkey, ranging from media to ďŹ nance to schools, and wields inuence in various arms of the state, including the judiciary and police. US Secretary of State John Kerry told his Turkish counterpart in a phone call that Turkey needs to respect due process as it investigates those it believes were involved in the coup plot.At least one senior Turkish oďŹƒcial has directly blamed the US for the attempt to topple Erdogan. That prompted Kerry to tell Turkey’s foreign minister that “public insinuationsâ€? about a US role are “utterly falseâ€? and harmful to US-Turkish relations. Source: Aljazeera.com
The lessons to be learned from Turkey’s failed coup ganisation. However, on the night of the coup, we saw the grassroots of the ruling party ďŹ ll public squares, face down heavy machine-guns and give their lives. One must understand that these people are united by a common cause and that they are willing to give their lives for it if necessary.
US oďŹƒcials allege fund was used as “personal bank accountâ€? to buy assets, including property, a jet and paintings. The US Justice Department has said it wants to seize more than $1bn in assets linked to Malaysia’s 1MDB state investment fund. The department said on Wednesday the assets were “associated with an international conspiracy to launder funds misappropriatedâ€? from 1MDB. In court papers ďŹ led in California, federal prosecutors listed some 20 assets, including lavish real estate from Beverly Hills to a penthouse in New York’s Time Warner Center. Also included were artworks by the painters Monet and Van Gogh, as well as a Bombardier Global 5000 business jet. In a press conference in Washington, DC, US Attorney General Loretta Lynch said ofďŹ cials used the sovereign fund as a “personal bank accountâ€?. Swiss say $4bn may be missing from Malaysia state fund Lynch said the move was part of an efort “to combat global corruptionâ€? and ensure that the US would not serve as a “safe haven to those who illegally use public funds for private gainâ€?. The fund is owned by the Malaysian government, but none of the lawsuits named Prime Minister Najib Razak, who has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
‘Money-laundering scheme’
The complaint, ďŹ led in Los Angeles, alleges a complex money laundering scheme that the Justice Department said was intended to enrich top-level oďŹƒcials of 1MDB. The fund was created in 2009 by the Malaysian government with the goal of promoting economic development projects in the Asian nation. Instead, oďŹƒcials at the fund diverted
more than $3.5bn over the next four years through a web of shell companies and bank accounts in Singapore, Switzerland, Luxembourg and the US, according to the complaint. Federal oďŹƒcials said more than $1bn was laundered into the US for the personal beneďŹ t of 1MDB oďŹƒcials and their associates. The funds were used to pay for luxury real estate in the US and Europe; gambling expenses in Las Vegas casinos; a London interior designer; more than $200m artwork by artists, including Van Gogh and Monet; and for the production of ďŹ lms, including the 2013 Oscar-nominated movie “The Wolf of Wall Streetâ€?.The complaint said that among those who proďŹ ted from the scheme was the prime minister’s step-son Aziz, who co-founded Red Granite Pictures, a movie production studio whose ďŹ lms include “The Wolf of Wall Streetâ€?. Malaysian government oďŹƒcials had no comment on Wednesday in response to queries about reports of the US justice department’s action. Source: Al Jazeera and agencies

of society, but belongs to every citizen. Events that are critical to Turkey’s recent political history took place in the coup attempt of July 15. Not a single opposition party supported the attempt. Some members of parliament immediately rushed to parliament. In addition to contemplating the thousands of people who took to the streets and how politicians from opposite ends of the political spectrum stood together, there are many other issues that need to be considered. Ideological cause, not handouts The opposition parties have important lessons to learn from this attempted coup. I tried to understand how the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) members view those who support the ruling party in a study I conducted on the CHP over the past two years in Anatolian cities. In a nutshell, I saw that CHP members think that most of those who support and vote for the ruling party do so because of the food, coal and other types of social welfare handouts they receive. Another issue frequently raised was that the ruling party has created networks of favouritism, and that these networks were the most important part of the party’s grassroots or-

Muslim Food Bank Helps Fort McMurray Residents
As wildfire ravaged Fort McMurray at the beginning of May, organizations from across the country came together to help people affected by the disaster. Lower Mainland’s Muslim Food Bank & Community Services Society (MFBCS) was engaged in fundraising through Islamic Relief Canada when
Leslie of the newly formed aid group Fort Mac Relief contacted Mainu Ahmed, Director of MFBCS, with a special plea. The Muslim community of Fort Mac had heard of MFBCS’s services and were seeking assistance with obtaining halal food and appropriate clothing. Within a few days, a volunteer from Fort Mac Relief drove down to Surrey and met with volunteers at the Muslim Food Bank warehouse to collect the required items. Brother Mainu, together with Osama and Yousra helped organize, package and load the truck full of clothing for men, women and children as well as non-perishable foods. Although it was the Muslim community in Fort Mac that sought MFBCS’ assistance, it was discussed and agreed upon that the donated items would be distributed to anyone and
everyone afflicted by the fire. The donations were enthusiastically received and MFBCS is proud to have been able to help communities beyond BC in their time of need. Without the support of Muslims in the Lower Mainland, such assistance would not have been possible - MFBCS would also like to acknowledge and thank all donors for their generosity and to our volunteers for their help in packaging the clothing and aims to increase capacity to serve even more people in the future. ABOUT MFBCS We are a community based charitable organization that provides food assistance and advocates self-reliance by providing case management, emotional support, youth development and capacity building. Our core values are Respect, Collaboration, Confiden-
tiality, Integrity and Humility and we aim to be a sustainable organization that promotes education, empathy and dignity through holistic interventions. You can find us online at www.muslimfoodbank.com, on Facebook.com/MuslimFoodBank and Twitter @muslimfoodbank.

Miracle’s Human Bodyparts Series
6 . IntestinesThere are two types of intestine : small intestine and large intestine. Small intestine is 21 foot tube that coils inside the abdomen and it is the longest part of the digestive system. The small intestine is the portion of the digestive system most responsible for absorption of nutrients from food into the bloodstream .There are many problems associated with the small intestine like bleeding ,intestinal cancer, intestinal obstruction and ulcers and many more
Although ‘Overcoming Overeating’ is not recent it remains one of the best of its kind. “Overcoming Overeating” is infused with common sense and is full of truly practical advice. Do you feel compelled to eat even though you are not at all hungry? If you do then this book is meant for you. “If your hand or your mind moves toward food when you are not at all hungry, you are by our definition, a compulsive eater. You are compelled to think about food or how your body looks in situations “compelled” because we know that you have no control over these thoughts” explain the authors Jane R. Hirschmann and Carol H. Munter. When you are a compulsive eater, you are perpetually fighting your body and eating. Compulsive eating is not so much an activity but an all-absorbing state of mind. Some compulsive eaters give in to their urge for food and others resist their food cravings and diet. Compulsive eaters, men and women come in all shapes and sizes. In other words, a compulsive eater is not automatically fat. However, compulsive eaters consider themselves fat or bad because they think they do not have an ideal body and they also believe that eating should be controlled. Compulsive eaters are also victims of the so called ‘fat phobia’ and of the constant dieting which has become so much a part of our society. The basic problem of the compulsive eater is that he is told not to do what in fact he should
.The treatment depends upon the cause. The small intestine is responsible for absorbing most of the nutrients found within your food. The small intestine is very vascular, meaning it has a lot of blood flow to it. Therefore, nutrients, vitamins and medications can quickly and efficiently enter the body soon after leaving the stomach. And now coming to large intestine which is maitains the fuction of re absorption of water and mineral ions such as sodium and chloride, formation and temporary storage of faeces .The large intestine is though shorter than small intestine but about 4.9 feet (1.5 m) long, which is about one-fifth of the whole length of the intestinal canal.

A compulsive eater most often eats from mouth hunger and not because he is truly hungry. “Our goal is to help you eliminate the experience of mouth hunger entirely, that is, to stop turning to food unless you’re
hungry. The difference between controlling and eliminating mouth hunger is critical. It is the difference between eating compulsively and eating normally, between controlling your eating and curing it.” After you can identify the sensation of stomach hunger, you will realize that the body is in fact self-regulatory. Your body can tell you when to eat and exactly what food will meet your hunger need at any given moment. You will start losing weight once you start eating only when you are truly hungry, and that you eat what your body wants, and stop eating precisely when you are full. “The more exact you are about your body’s food needs, the closer you will get to your natural weight.” Once you give up food restrictions and quit dieting, your compulsive need for food diminishes greatly and with time and effort, it can cease altogether. Overcoming Overeating offers a step-by-step plan that cures your eating disorders once and for all. Hirschmann and Munter focus on returning eating to its natural place in one’s life as something to be enjoyed and not feared. Free from obsessive thoughts about food and weight, you will stop overeating and lose weight naturally. This therapy brings a caring response to the compulsive eaters and helps them move beyond their negative preoccupations with eating and weight toward a fuller more satisfying life.

Muslim Woman Allegedly Assaulted With Eggs Because Of Her Hijab The recent spike in hate crimes against Muslims have only reiterated an underlying fear of Islam which the majority of Americans have. Recently, the Facebook account Muslims of America posted a story which described how one person’s mother was physically assaulted and humiliated because of her expression of the Islamic faith. Farad Afshar, a student at Chabot Community College in Hayward, Northern California, posted to Instagram two days ago that
his mother was targeted by a group of men while leaving her local Walmart. The men smashed eggs onto the woman’s head and body, presumably because she was wearing hijab. “My mom is the most kindhearted, loving, and selfless person you’ll ever meet. She has a great amount of pride and respect for her religion, culture, and customs. The fact that she can’t walk out of her home without feeling safe is sickening. Tonight a couple
of guys stalked her out of our local Walmart and attacked her with blows to her head and body with eggs. The reason they thought it was necessary to attack her and my little sister was because they were wearing a hijab. I am at loss for words due to the immense amount of hate that is in this world. No one should have to see their mom broken because of a couple of people having disgusting prejudices about people that do not look like them.” • Posted by :CAIR:
New Canada Child Benefit Letting Families Down: Vecchio OTTAWA, Karen Vecchio, Official Opposition Critic for Families, Children and Social Development and Member of Parliament for Elgin-Middlesex-London, issued the following statement today on the Liberal government’s new Canada Child Benefit: “Far too many families are learning today that they are not going to get the financial support they need when it matters the most. “That’s because the Canada Child Benefit (CCB), unlike the Universal Child Care Benefit which provided stable support to all
families, is based on your previous year’s income. Canadians who have been laid off in the last six months or had their hours reduced won’t qualify for the maximum benefit this year, regardless of the fact that their families are struggling to make ends meet. “In fact, Statistics Canada studies indicate that as many as 2.4 million families will see their household income drop this year by 10% or more compared to last year. Once you factor in the Liberals’ planned tax hikes, including the CPP expansion, how many
families are really better off? “Conservatives believe in supporting hardworking Canadian families and ensuring that they get to keep more of their hard earned money to spend on their priorities.
Trudeau says the Canadian government is working towards gender-neutral identity documents OTTAWA — The federal Liberals could easily drop any mention of sex or gender from identity documents like passports immediately, notwithstanding concerns civil servants have expressed about the idea privately for more than a year, a senior official with the Canadian Human Rights Commission says. Marcella Daye, the acting manager of policy at the commission, said having gender-neutral identity documents like passports is the number one issue transgender Canadians have raised in recent consultations with the commission.
Daye said the longer the government waits to move to gender-neutral identity documents, the longer it exposes transgender Canadians and other members of the LGBTQ2 community to potential problems or danger. Consultations the commission has held with transgender Canadians on this topic have shown concerns about travellers blocked from getting on a flight because they don’t look or match the gender listed on their passport, or becoming the subject to harassment, said Daye, a senior policy adviser to
the commission on LGBTQ2 issues. “Sometimes when you toss out the idea that this is harmful and we need to change this one thing, people go, ‘but there are these other 300 things and we need to change all of them and we have to do a big effort,”‘ Daye said. “Those kind of systemic examinations of how we use gender in government are really worthwhile, but they should not stop us from making the immediate changes that can help people and keep people from harm.”

Thousands of Pakistanis protest Indian Kashmir killings Islamabad (AFP) - Thousands of people marched in streets across Pakistan on Wednesday to protest violence in India-administered Kashmir, AFP journalists said, as the death toll from days of clashes between demonstrators and security forces rose to 45. Violence erupted after Burhan Wani, commander of the region’s biggest separatist group Hizbul Mujahideen -- one of several fighting Indian troops in the territory for decades -- was killed during a gunbattle with government forces. The clashes are the deadliest in
Muslim-majority Kashmir since 2010 when massive demonstrations were held against Indian rule.In one major protest, an AFP photographer estimated around 20,000 people blocked a highway connecting Islamabad to Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and then the capital of Indian Kashmir, Srinagar.Hundreds of others participated in rallies in Muzaffarabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Multan and other cities, chanting slogans against the Indian administration of Kashmir and the actions of its security forces in
the valley. Speakers urged the United Nations to intervene and resolve the Kashmir issue.Parts of Indian Kashmir have been under curfew for 11 days and residents have complained of medicine shortages.Kashmir has been divided between rivals India and Pakistan since independence in 1947, but both claim the Himalayan territory in full. The nuclear-armed neighbours have fought two of their three wars over the territory.
My Professional Visit to Pakistan By:Nadeem Zia, B.Pharm, RPh. OpenDoor Team, OpenDoor for Success Association, Vancouver, I like to share my story about my recent trip as guest speaker for Pharmacy Conference in Lahore, Pakistan.I was invited as a guest speaker at the 19th International Pharmacy Conference & Exhibition #IPCE2016 in Lahore, Pakistan. I was very interested in going so I started planning the overseas trip. My first challenge was getting vacation time, and the second was the expenses. I was partly sponsored by the Pakistan Pharmacists’ Association, so I made the trip. Another challenge was that I was new to Lahore, as I am from Karachi. I’m proud that I overcame all these challenges because the trip was worth it. The 19th International Pharmacy Conference & Exhibition, a 3-day event, had over 2000 pharmacists participating, and more than 12 international guest speakers, including me. The topics we presented included; public health,
pharmacy practice, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, and research. I presented “The Role of Pharmacist in Medication Management”, a Canadian experience. I was invited to a few universities, community pharmacies, and hospitals, and am proud to see the excellent improvement in pharmacy practices, very similar to Canadian Pharmacies. I had an excellent experience in such a short time span of eight days where I met over five hundred pharmacy students, practicing pharmacists in various fields, and some old colleagues and classmates. I was surprised to notice most of the participants came to me and introduced themselves saying that they know me from Facebook. I shared my Canadian pharmacy practices and learned Pakistani pharmacy practices and their challenges.
I attended many International Pharmacy Conferences & Exhibitions during my visit in Pakistan from April 21- 26 and really enjoyed.

The Pros and Cons of Teen Jobs
•Organizations you have volunteered for. Maybe someday Kegan can parlay his summer volunteer time at the library into a part-time job. Once your teen does find a job, monitor how it’s going and whether your teen seems able to handle the work along with everything else in his or her life. Is homework getting done and grades staying high? Is she enjoying the job? Does he have time for friends and family? If the job is too much, see if your teen can work fewer hours or cut back to a summer job only. A summer job can provide all the benefits of a year-round job without interfering with your child’s full-time job: school.

S
hould Your Teen Get A Job? I was surprised to recently learn that when my oldest son turns 14 in a few months, he can legally get a job. I always thought you had to be 16 to get a job, but 14- and 15-year-olds can work as long as they work no more than three hours a day and 18 hours a week during the school year. They also can’t work past 7:00 p.m. during the school year. I don’t think Kegan is going to run out and start looking for a job when he turns 14, but it did start me thinking. In a couple years, he may want to get a job – should I let him? And if he doesn’t want one, should I make him get one anyway (if only to help pay for the increased car insurance costs when he turns 16)? The Pros and Cons of Teen Jobs There are arguments both for and against a teenager getting a job, especially during the school year. Pros •Jobs can teach teenagers work skills they will need their whole lives, such as how to fill out an application, how to interview well, how to work responsibly, and how to get along with co-workers and superiors •Jobs can help teens feel more confident and independent •Jobs help teens develop a sense of responsibility •Students who work 10 to 15 hours a week during the school year earn higher grades than students who don’t work at all •Jobs help teens learn to manage their money •obs cab help teens explore potential career paths Cons •Teens who work more than 13 to 20 hours a week receive lower grades •Teens who work find it difficult to keep up extracurricular activities and friendships •Teens who work are more likely to use illegal drugs or alcohol •Overworked teens sleep and exercise less and spend less time with their families The question may come down to your in-
dividual child: Is my child ready for a job? Can my child handle working and still maintain good grades? Why does my child want to work?
Is My Child Ready for a Job?
In order to help you decide if your teen is ready to get a job, ask yourself these questions: •Does my teen get out of bed in the morning without prodding? •Does my teen shower and have good hygiene? •Does my teen make good choices? •Does my teen take responsibility for mistakes? •Does my teen get along with other teens and with adults? •Does my teen handle criticism? •Does my teen have good time management skills? Talk to your teen about why he or she wants a job and what your expectations are for •Grades •Extracurricular activities •Friends and family •Money (how much your child will need to save versus spending and what expenses he or she will be responsible for) If you still aren’t sure, consider letting your child work on a trial basis just to see how it goes. You could also let him or her try out regular volunteer work too. Last summer, Kegan was a Teen Volunteer at our local library. Not only did he have to fill out an application and go through an interview, but he also had regular job responsibilities and a time sheet to fill out. He received many of the benefits of a paying job but on a limited basis appropriate for his age. Where to Look for a Job So if you do decide to let your teen try out the working world, where can he or she go to find a job?
Here are some ideas:
•School Guidance Counselor. He or she may know about local businesses that hire teens. •Coaches, teachers, parents, and friends. Let everyone know you are job-hunting – you never know who might have a lead on the perfect job for you. •Classified ads

Stages Of Grief ! By:Shabnam y:Shabnam Sh b Khan Kh – Family Counsellor rief is a somewhat complicated and misunderstood emotion. Yet, grief is something that, unfortunately, we must all experience at some time or other. We will all inevitably experience loss. Whether it is a loss through death, divorce or some other loss, the stages of grieving are somewhat the same. There are five stages of grief. If we get stuck in one stage or the other, the process of grieving is not complete, and cannot be complete. Thus there will be no healing. A person MUST go through the five stages to be well again, to heal. Not everyone goes through the stages at the same time. It is different for each person. You cannot force a person through the stages, they have to go at their own pace, and you may go one step forward then take two steps backward, but this is all part of the process, and individual to each person. But, as stressed, ALL five stages must be completed for healing to occur. 1-Denial-”this can’t be happening to me”, looking for the former spouse in familiar places, or if it is death, setting the table for the person or acting as if they are still in living there. No crying. Not accepting or even acknowledging the loss. 2-Anger-”why me?” feelings of wanting to fight back or get even with spouse of divorce, for death, anger at the deceased, blaming them for leaving. 3-Bargaining-bargaining often takes place before the loss. Attempting to make deals with the spouse who is leaving, or attempting to make deals with God to stop or change the loss. Begging, wishing and praying for them to come back.
G
4-Depression-overwhelming feelings of hopelessness, frustration, bitterness, s e l f - p i t y, mourning loss of person as well as the hopes, dreams and plans for the future. Feeling lack of control, feeling numb. Perhaps feeling suicidal. 5-Acceptance-there is a difference between resignation and acceptance. You have to accept the loss, not just try to bear it quietly. Realization that it takes two to make or break a marriage. Realization that the person is gone (in death) that it is not their fault; they didn’t leave you on purpose. (even in cases of suicide, often the deceased person, was not in their right frame of mind) Finding the good that can come out of the pain of loss, finding comfort and healing. Our goals turn toward personal growth. Stay with fond memories of person. Get help. You will survive. You will heal, even if you cannot believe that now, just know that it is true. To feel pain after loss is normal. It proves that we are alive, human. But we can’t stop living. We have to become stronger, while not shutting off our feelings for the hope of one day being healed and finding love and/or happiness again. Helping others through something we have experienced is a wonderful way to facilitate our healing and bring good out of something tragic. For more information:

Mom i got star in the school By: Asma Shums Mortgage Broker he children comes running to parents , home eager to tell about their achievements. They share everything , good or bad , with them or around them with parents. We are very happy and feel proud when they bring trophy or a prize. We smile and encourage them. They grow little , they come home , as usual share the news that we all bunked the class and went for a movie or worse some bad habit thing they tried, kabhoom #*#<#> We expload oh my god ...how can you being my son / daughter Worse the mistake ,worse the reaction....so what message we convey the message that they have done some heineous crime.
T
Are we wrong?
No and Yes , yes and no. Of course no parents will or should encourage wrong thoughts or behaviour. The parents choice of words, manner and way of handling such situation makes a lot of difference. In actual sense the parents want to say that so and so action was bad but the way. The manner in which they scold makes the child feel that he or she is bad.
What’s up?
What’s happening and the results to it are opposite, now the parents run behind children, go around them to ask what is happening, hardly getting any answers or details.
What, where, why and how
The child who was sharing everything in detail has suddenly closed the doors to parents. Same child, same parents, then what has changed? First when they got some good news about some achievements we smiled, appreciated. Every soul craves for approval, acceptance and understanding. As soon as they do something which is bad in their eyes
and truly not good. What do we do is instead of listening we became judgemental. We attack the child and not their actions. This results in the child not sharing and they take their rejection personally and shut themselves from parents. When other children come to us with same mistakes committed, what do we say? Yeah, it happens in this age and time, it happens, no worries, take care, etc. We do not react dramatically.
How could you
This difference in reaction makes friends parents look “cool parents” in the eyes of children.
Counsellors vs Parents
People open up more, share more about their feelings or thought to counsellors or friends and more then family because they are afraid to share or to even strangers to get rejection, ridicule and shame from family. When somebody comes to us with sin what do we do? We try to show them that they are not but the action they did is bad, we try to help them to be emotionally strong and give them a helping hand to come out from their place. This is exactly what we as parents should have in the first place when our child was growing and told us honestly about the mistakes. So lets give them a helping hand by not becoming so judgemental, critics or aggressive. Instead let us show love, support, and guidance. To be continued...

We become too busy to build the nest that we forget to use our wings to fly.
People say there is no “sorry” or “thanks” in a relationship but experience tells us that most of the time these two words are very essential to a relationship.
20 Confessions from a Mom of … FIVE! By Khaula Mazhar otherhood is not easy. It is not easy to be mom of one nor is it easy to be mom of five. There is however, a certain number of children where it becomes easier to let go and just roll with it, mainly because you have no choice and learned that stressing isn’t going to get anything done. I put that number at three. With kid number three, you wonder why you ever worried about maintaining lego-less floors or taking a shower. Whoever is walking on the floor should watch out for himself and baby powder is essentially dry shampoo for moms who haven’t had the luxury of a shower for days on end. I confess I am that mom, I feel no shame admitting this. Shame went out the window with the birth of middle child, and with the birth of twin 1 and twin 2 last bits of sanity joined my sense of propriety. Those are now long gone, and I don’t regret it one bit. If anything life becomes easier when you lose your mind, insanity does have a touch of genius to it. Besides that, for some mysterious reason crazy, shameless mom is way cooler than well organized, prim and proper, perfect mom. My advice plus confessions to you as a “been there, done that and have survived so far mom” are as follows: 1. Your first child will always be the lab rat. Stop feeling guilty about it, you are doing
M
the best you can. can What’s the worst that can happen? Never mind, don’t answer that. 2. Your second child was born to whine, it’s a default of being second. Do not be blackmailed by that whining, know that they are just as guilty as their elder sibling. Cotton dipped in olive oil make for good ear plugs if the howling gets too loud. Also keeps your ears clean, and well you know how long it’s been since you last showered, so yeah. 3. We all forget middle child. They end up being the best of the lot, so don’t sweat it. However if you drop them off at their friend’s, it would be a good idea to pick them up, preferably on the same day. Or… eventually. But hey we all need a break sometimes right? 4. I have thrown belongings out the front door when not picked up after I asked several times. 5. I still have baby powder in the house, even though no kid is under the age of eight. Baby powder can be used for unwashed hair, sweaty kids who refuse to shower, inside of smelly joggers, to sprinkle over the liquidy gunk and hairballs the cat coughed up, freshen up a kid after they throw up etc etc. Baby powder is pure magic. 6. There were some clothing items that kid 1 through 5 wore. Yes I believe in hand me downs. 7. I have fallen asleep with three small kids
in my lap/arms. You should condition yourself to sleep in any situation, no mercy for the fussy sleepers. 8. I turn leftovers into “fresh” dinners. You should too, and never let anyone know you used leftovers! 9. I let the kids have cake for breakfast once. I slept in. No guilt at all, we were all happy. 10. Should such a situation arise, I will let them have cake for breakfast again. 11. If you forget to wash gym clothes, just throw them in the dryer with fabric softener sheets and hope for the best. Also works with kids’ underwear. Just don’t tell them you forgot to wash the clothes. 12. I reuse my fabric softener sheets. Several times. 13. I always have a secret stash of chocolate just for me. 14. I guard that stash like a dragon.
15. My purse contains every child’s belongings and none of my own. 16. I can quote anything from “My Little Pony.” 17. Plastic bags are a good way to catch vomit in a moving car. Always have a good supply. 18. The bathroom is the first place they look for you, try hiding in the garage instead. It’ll buy you at least seven minutes alone. 19. Don’t go on Pinterest, those are all LIES! No one can do all that! It is just another Big Pharma tactic to make you take anti-depressants! 20. Love those little buggers, smother them with kisses and hugs, enjoy every second of this time with them, it goes too fast! Don’t regret any thing! What confessions do you have? Source : Muslimmoms.ca

We fought with aggression, in my honest opinion today after forty years,—the fight could be a draw pronouncing winners to Boxing Competition both. However, the judges declared me a winner on points. But, that night despite losing the fight, Ali won many hearts including mine. After declared a winner, I hugged Ali with tears of joy and sorrow in my eyes. As I slowly walked back towards my corner, Ali came running from behind and picked me up on his shoulders by passing his head through my walking legs. Misbah hails ‘remarkable turnaround’ Misbah-ul-Haq said it had been a “remarkable turnaround” for Pakistan after they secured a 75-run victory at Lord’s, six years after leaving the ground in disgrace following the spotfixing scandal. On a gripping fourth day, Pakistan surged to victory with four wickets in 31 balls after Jonny Bairstow and Chris Woakes had threatened to work their way towards the target of 283. They celebrated with push-ups and salutes on the outfield, a further nod to their pre-series boot camp with the army in Pakistan, after Misbah had marked his century in the same way on the opening day. Yasir Shah, who finished with ten wickets and was named Man of the Match, broke the stand when he removed Bairstow then Mohammad Amir, in his first Test since that 2010 encounter, helped seal victory by clean bowling Stuart Broad and Jake Ball. “It’s been a remarkable turnaround after the 2010 incident,” Misbah said at the
presentation. “The team took real responsibility and these players showed a lot of respect for the game, fought throughout the six years and brought plenty of wins. Their on- and off-thefield disciplines are really good and winning against a top side, who are really good in their home conditions, speaks volumes for this team and for all the players. “It is one of the top wins as a captain and as a Pakistan team. I’m really proud of the team, everybody fought and came out with really good skills. Especially today, mentally everyone was strong. Yasir Shah in first and second innings and the fast bowlers bowled really well. Overall it was a good win for us.” Talking of Amir, who claimed three wickets in the match, Misbah hoped that he would now be able to get on with his career. “He’s part of the team that has won the Test match, it will be one of the memorable days of his life and from here he can start his ca-
reer again. He’s a good kid now, he’s a mature cricketer and he can prove to everyone that he’s a good bowler.” Pakistan’s victory was set up by their first-innings total of 339, built around Misbah’s opening-day hundred, and he said that he knew his team had the bowling attack to make the most of those runs on the board. “We always believe that if we cross 300 we have a chance, especially in the first innings, because we have a top spinner. And in the fourth innings when the pitch dries up they can put pressure on the opposition, the quicks are so good with reverse swing, and they can make it really difficult. They proved it today.” And on his own performance, where he followed the hundred with a duck, he said with a smile: “It happens sometimes, you live by the sword you die by the sword. You have
to back yourself. This is how you score a hundred and sometimes a zero.” Misbah also dedicated the victory to Abdul Sattar Edhi, the Pakistani philanthropist who died earlier this month Source: Cricinfo
IOC to explore legal options on possible ban for Russian team in Rio
The International Olympic Committee says it will explore the legal options for a potential total ban on Russia from the Games in Rio de Janeiro, and is taking measures to punish athletes and officials involved in the state-run doping conspiracy. The IOC executive board announced steps on Tuesday following a scathing report by a World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) investigator who accused Russia’s sports ministry of overseeing doping of the country’s athletes across 28 Olympic sports. “The findings of the report show a shocking and unprecedented attack on the integrity of sports and on the Olympic Games. Therefore, the IOC will not hesitate to take the toughest sanctions available against any individual or organization implicated,” IOC president Thomas Bach said in a statement released Tuesday. WADA and other anti-doping officials urged the IOC to consider the unprecedented step of excluding the entire Russian contingent from the Rio Games. The IOC stopped short of supporting such a move, but didn’t rule it out either. First, the IOC said, it will “carefully evaluate” the report issued on Monday by Canadian lawyer Richard McLaren, who listed 20 summer sports as being part of systematic cheating in Russia, and confirmed the manipulation of Russian doping samples at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi. The IOC “will explore the legal options with regard to a collective ban of all Russian athletes for the Olympic Games 2016 versus the right to indi-
vidual justice,” the 15-member ruling executive board said in a statement following a meeting by teleconference. The IOC noted that it will have to take into account a decision coming on Thursday from the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which is due to rule on the dispute between Russia, 68 of its athletes, and the governing body of world athletics over their Rio participation after the IAAF banned the country from the Rio track and field program. That ban was imposed in November by the IAAF and upheld last month. The IOC also asked WADA to extend the mandate of McLaren to provide names of athletes implicated in doping coverups. The report, commissioned by WADA and compiled by McLaren, revealed evidence of widespread state-sponsored doping by Russian athletes and extensive coverups, particularly at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in the Russian city of Sochi. Positive tests were covered up and “dirty” urine samples swapped with “clean” ones with methods developed by the domestic intelligence service, while deputy sports minister Yuri Nagornykh decided which athletes would be protected. The IOC says it will “initiate reanalysis, including forensic analysis, and a full inquiry into all Russian athletes who participated” in Sochi. The investigation will be led by Denis Oswald, a Swiss former rower and senior IOC member. The IOC executive board adds it “will impose all the appropriate sanctions” if wrongdoing is found. ter Vitaly Mutko said on Tuesday there was no state-backed doping scheme in Russia, the news agency Interfax reported. “I can say once again, there are no state doping schemes in Russia,” Mutko was quoted as saying. The IOC says it has opened investigations into top Russian sports officials and is seeking to bar them from the Rio Games. The IOC has set up a disciplinary commission led by former French Constitutional Court Judge Guy Canivet to look into “officials within the Russian Ministry of Sports and other persons mentioned in the report.” The WADA report accused Mutko and his officials of overseeing a coverup of hundreds of doping test failures by Russians. Several officials, including one of Mutko’s deputies and his anti-doping adviser, have been suspended on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Mutko told Russian agency R-Sport earlier Tuesday. Mutko, who is not suspended, denies any wrongdoing, and says he expects his subordinates to be reinstated after “temporary” suspensions. The IOC said on Tuesday it had started disciplinary action against officials mentioned in the report and that anyone implicated would not be given accreditation for Rio. The IOC has also instructed all international Winter Olympic Winter Sports Federations to freeze their preparations for major events in Russia. It also said it would not back the European Games, scheduled to be held in Russia in 2019. Source: CBC News

It is really sad and heart breaking that a genuine jewel of this world, Mr. Abdul Sattar Edhi, has passed away. Inna Lillahe wa inna Elaihe Rajeoon. The world would perhaps not have a person of devotion like him again. May the Almighty grant him the highest level in Jinnah... Ameen. He truly deserves a Noble Prize and I profoundly support it. I am proud to share with you a picture with him that was taken in his office at Karachi in 2010. When I was working for UN to develop National Fire & Safety Policy of Pakistan, Mr. Edhi desired to meet with me. We spent few hours together.
