Interested in targeting the Latino market? El Comercio Newspaper is a free Hispanic weekly publication that is distributed every Friday. The publication provides target marketing services combined with proven marketing strategy to reach consumers in Maryland, Washington D.C. and Virginia while maximizing our clients’ return on marketing investment. We offer our clients a full complement of direct response, print, broadcast and interactive solutions, managed by a culturally diverse team with bilingual capabilities. Our hispanic marketing and distribution operations are conducted throughout the Metro area at all local hispanic retail and commercial outlets; with whom we have built strong business relationships. We use the different outlets to reach hispanic communities where these consumers reside. In order to successfully convey our client’s message to the general Hispanic American communities or to the intended market, we use promotional representatives who have a strong familiarity with hispanic neighborhoods and local culture in each specific geographic market. We also provide numerous alternative advertising services as part of our hispanic marketing capabilities. These services include flyer distribution, poster advertising, coupon inserts and more. We can also conduct in the field hispanic marketing surveys if needed. El Comercio covers local, state, national and international news as well as valuable information about: Real Estate, Entertainment, Fashion, Design, Sports, Politics, Auto shows and Mamacita de la Semana. We have over 1,000 points of distribution and over 200,000 readers Metro wide. We have recently purchased 200 newspaper stands which will be strategically at Metro subway, bus, and train stations as well as malls, universities and government buildings in the metro area. Because it is the most frequently read newspaper in the spanish language, our advertiser receive results.The community clearly sees the value of the content we provide them with and respond by continuously reading our paper.

Advertising Rate Schedule The unit of sale of our newspaper is the column inch (We accept Standard Advertising Units for broadsheet newspaper.) Our page is 11.75 inches wide by 21 inches. A column inch is 1.85 inches in width and 1 inch high. There are 6 columns per page, therefore a full page contains 126 column inches. We sell a column inch at $20.00. Discounts available based on frequency of insertion and form of payment. The larger the quantity of space requested and the greater the amount paid in advance, the greater the discount.

Deadlines
News: In order to make El Comercio Newspaper available to readers in a timely manner every Thursday, the Publisher will strictly enforce ALL deadlines and make NO EXCEPTIONS. All articles, press releases, letters to the editor, calendar of events information, etc. must be in our offices NO LATER THAN NOON ON THE FRIDAY OF THE WEEK PRIOR TO PUBLICATION Camera-ready advertising by Monday at 5:00 PM, the same week of publication.

Mechanical Specs: Ad submitted that do not conform with the printed
size specifications will be reduced, enlarged or floated at the discretion of the Publisher. We make no guarantee for the reproduction quality of any camera-ready art that must be resized. Publisher discourages the use of reverse ads with Serif typeface. Best results achieved on reverses using a maximum 100 line screen and 10pt type or larger. Efforts will made to comply with reasonable ad placement requests when possible. 15% premium for guaranteed position.
Acceptable Ad Forms: We accept digital files only. We can accept transfers
via CD, DVD, E-mail, or FTP. Preferred file formats for digital submissions are: Option A: Adobe Illustrator, PDF, or EPS with fonts converted to outlines Option B: Adobe InDesign files with all fonts and graphics included Other file formats such as JPEG, TIFF, or PSD will be accepted provided they are of sufficient resolution and quality; please call the art director for further details and specifications. Please note that if we will be updating your ads with new ad-copy etc, you must provide the artwork as described in “Option B� above.

Space & Art Deadlines: Space reservations and materials for ads requiring
production work are due every Tuesday at 12 pm EST for Friday’s publication.
Payment Terms: All El Comercio ads must be pre-paid, except accounts with
pre-approved credit. New advertisers must submit payment with first four insertions to establish credit. Net due 10 days from invoice date. A $15.00 late fee will be added to accounts delinquent past 35 days from invoice date per period. All checks with NSF will be charged an additional $35.
Policies: Advertisers will indemnify and hold harmless the Publisher for any
claims, damages or liability resulting from publication of any advertising copy submitted by the Advertisers, including suit costs and reasonable attorney’s fees. Advertisers warrant that any copy submitted is truthful and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Publisher reserves the right to omit, reject or revise any advertisements. Publisher accepts no liability for their failure, for any reason, to insert an advertisement. No allowance will be granted for any errors that do not materially affect the value of the ad. Credit for errors on the part of the publisher is limited to partial or complete refund of the cost of the advertisement. Publisher is not liable for damages beyond ad costs. No credit will be given for any errors following client proof approval.
Contract Terms: Cancellations are accepted with a two week written notice.
Publisher reserves the right to charge the advertiser the full cost of the ad contracted for. Advertisers will be short-rate invoiced, if the advertiser within a 12 month period from the date of the insertion, fails to use the total space insertions contracted for. Advertiser will be billed the difference between the actual rate earned and the rate contracted for. Client agrees to pay all legal/ collection fees incurred in the collection of any unpaid balances. Agency commission of 15% to recognized agencies providing camera-ready materials. Payment must be received within 60 days of space billing. Due to paper price fluctuations, Ad rates are subject to change.
