SOOP & HIS FRIENDS

Miriam Kocher

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. The Bible, James

1:17

This is Soop. He loves to sleep all day long. He lives in the jungle in a treehouse that he built himself. Soop has been living alone for as long as he can remember.

George, Reed and Sniper are Soop‘s friends.

One day they decided to visit Soop. They thought he slept to much and needed some exciting adventure.

George, Reed and Sniper all live in the jungle down the river, but none of them really has a home. Sniper actually lives in the river.

It took a while for Soop to wake up, but he was happy that his friends had come. It was quite lonely in that treehouse sometimes.

First of all they, had some good breakfast Then, they decided they would go for a cruise down the river.

They could all fit on Sniper‘s back.

Soop packed some lunch because he knew Sniper loved food and that he would get hungry again soon.

Then they set off gliding down the river.

At one point they saw that there was a big bend in the river. They could see the water speeding up.

Before they realised what was happening, the current was so strong that they all fell off Snipers back into the raging river. George is a good swimmer but he was just too small and he was being pulled downstream. Luckily, Sniper is the best swimmer in the whole world so he whent after George. Soop got a hold of a rock and Reed could fly.

In the end they all got to land safely and were happy to be alive. Soop had even held on to the food.

They decided to go on foot from there. George was still in shock but Soop had an idea to cheer him up. He saw a little bay nearby with a hill and decided to build a mudslide. First the others just watched him slide down.

But then they all joined and it was great fun to slide down in different styles. They even started racing but Sniper was always the fastest since he was the heaviest. One time when he was under water he saw something shining in the sun..

It was a bottle and there seemed to be something in it.

Once he got it out of the water, the others gathered round to see what he had found. They opened the bottle and found an old piece of cloth, it looked like there was a map on in and some trail that led to a red X. They were all very excited and decided to follow the trail. This was going to be quite an adventure after all. They set off following the trail through the thick jungle.

After walking a while they came to a drop off. There used to be a bridge there but now it was broken. How were they going to get across?

Soop had an idea. He was used to swinging on the vines in the jungle, and there were some hanging over the gorge. He went first, grabbed the vine and swung over to the other side. „It‘s really easy“, he shouted to the others.

George was afraid to go alone, so Sniper said they could go together. George jumped and clung to the vine while Sniper swung them over the gorge. They arrived safetly on the other side.

Then they came to the entrance of a cave. The map said to go though, but it looked quite dark inside. Once they got in they could see it wasn‘t as dark as they had thought because there were holes in the roof of the cave.

As they walked through, they admired the rocks that had formed in the most interesting ways throughout the years. Suddenly Soop heard a sob. It sounded like it was coming from behind one of the rocks.

There was a little guy sitting there sobbing.. He said he had lost his way and was starving. They all felt sorry for him and asked him to come with them..

Soop remembered the food he had brought and gave it to their new friend. His name was Stripes.

Then they continued their journey. There was light at the end of the tunnel and they could see a hole but the ladder was broken. Luckily now they were just enough to reach the top and pull each other up. On the other side, the light schone bright and it took a while for them to get used to it but then they could see the amazing view.

They looked over a colorful, flower spotted valley. The map showed them that they were almost there. They just had to cross the next bridge.

It led them to a huge treehouse overlooking the river. There were exactly five spots for each of them, as if it had been perfectly planned. „Looks like someone cares about us.“, said George smiling. „Now we finally have a place where we can all stay“, said Soop. And they even had a spot for Stirpes, their new friend.

They sat at the edge of the treehouse to watch the sunset. They all agreed that it had been a great day. Even George said, „we should do this again sometime“. As it got dark each of them crawled into his own bed and dreamt of exciting adventures.
