Programs are available for your unit resiliency. See https://35fss.com/unite for more details.

With the arrival of winter to the Misawa area, I would like to remind everyone about the recreational opportunities still available at the Gosser Golf Course. When the snow covers the golf course, free cross-country ski and snowshoe equipment is available in the Starters Hut, located adjacent to the #1 tee. Speaking of snow, there are a number of very nice hills for sledding and tubing on the back nine. Unfortunately, there’s no lift to bring you back up to the top, but it’s still a lot of fun! There are also FREE driving range stalls in the Pavilion, located adjacent to the practice putting green. Last but not least, we are excited to have a new GC Quad Launch Monitor and Simulator and swing analyzer in the 19th Hole. This state-of-the-art system allows you to use your own clubs and play a round of golf with your friends in heated comfort. The GC Quad Launch Monitor and Simulator also has diagnostic programs to analyze your golf swing and provide high speed digital images of ball impact on the club face as well as launch angle, swing path, club and ball speed information. There are no excuses to not enjoy all the programs this winter has to keep you and your golf swing in shape. See you at the course! Robert E. Auto Complex Winterize your vehicle at the Auto Hobby Center. Let the professionals take care of each detail, making sure that your car is ready for Misawa snow, right down to your windshield wiper blades. 1. Windshield Wiper Fluid You can’t drive if you can’t see! Washer fluid that contains antifreeze helps to keep your windshield clear so that you can focus on the road. 2. Engine Coolant Your coolant should contain ethylene glycol to stand up to the season. 3. Engine Oil Winter months call for thinner oil. An oil change and thinner oil may be just what your vehicle needs to get you in to the next year. 4. Battery Avoid getting stranded in the cold. Get your battery checked to make sure that it is still holding the correct charge. 5. Snow Tires Proper tires are essential to driving safely. Snow tires are required on base by now, so make sure your car is ready to go before the first big snow comes in.

6. Lock De-Icer & Ice Scraper with a Brush These tools come in handy when the bitter cold makes it tough to get to work on time. Snow piles high here in Misawa, and you’ll want a longhandled scraper with a brush to push the mounds off of the top of your car. 7. Emergency Kit Make sure you’re prepared in a snowy situation! Emergency kits have all of the essentials and you should always have one in your vehicle. There are plenty of emergency kits with everything you need but always think about water, blankets and other essentials for road trips.

Welding Program The Auto Hobby Center is accepting sign-ups for January welding spots! Learn the basics of welding and safety for: Tig Welding Mig Welding and more! Stop by the Auto Hobby Center or call 226-4654 for more information. 28 | December 2019

Winter Blades vs. Summer Blades Summer windshield wiper blades have lattice arms with moving parts, a lightweight frame, and a lighter layer of mural rubber. For the winter months and Misawa snow, winter blades provide anti-clogging armor, a sturdier frame, and robust, synthetic rubber. Make sure you have the correct blades so you can drive safe this winter.

FSS Spotlight Marcos Matos Club Complex General Manager

What is your favorite part about working at the Misawa Club? My favorite part about working at the Misawa Club is the people that work here. We have some really great staff. They ensure Club events are always successful, consistent, respectable, superior and exceeding standards.

What do you wish the Misawa community knew about your programs? Since I’ve been here, I have realized many people in the Misawa Community aren’t aware that being a Club Member has so many great benefits. For example, did you know Members can book rooms at the Club for FREE for private parties such as birthdays and baby showers? We also offer a variety of discounts to Club Members at all of our food facilities. These discounts include $2 off any lunch buffet at the Club, $2 off any entree at Wild Weasels' Bar & Grill, and $3 off Airman Leadership School dinner.

What is your best Misawa Club memory? Seeing happy customers when Club events have exceeded their expectations.
