he Department of Defense SkillBridge program (formerly known as the Career Skills Program) provides retiring and separating service members the opportunity to participate in civilian job training programs while they transition out of the military. SkillBridge connects service members with real-world job experiences through specifi c industry training, apprenticeships, or internship opportunities. This can help service members bridge the gap between the end of service and the beginning of their civilian careers.

There are many industry partners in fi elds such as energy, information technology, manufacturing, transportation, and more. Partners include employers such as Amazon, Lockheed Martin, United Health Group, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Aff airs. A complete list of authorized providers is available at htt ps://skillbridge.osd.mil/organizations.htm.

In their fi nal 180 days of Active Duty, transitioning service members can be granted permissive duty to focus on full-time training with a DoD-approved partner, aft er their unit commander provides writt en authorization and approval. During SkillBridge participation, you will continue to receive military pay and benefi ts. Release for SkillBridge is always mission-dependent.
