Auto Hobby Center

Aud io an Visu d Insta al llatio n

Mike Patton is the dedicated audio and visual installation expert at the Auto Hobby Center. He has lived in Misawa for nine years and he uses his passion of music to make cars sound their best. When Patton was 19 years old he bought his first first car, a 1991 Nissan Pathfi Pathfinder. nder. It was fifitted tted with factory speakers. He hated the sound quality and took on the project to complete his fifirst rst audio upgrade. He now has 15 years of audio and visual installation experience. Patton looks for stereos and speakers that will produce the perfect sound blend for the car and the individual’s preferences. When beginning an installation project, Patton gets to know his customers' favorite music genres and how they enjoy their listening experience. He then takes into account the vehicle’s unique sound characteristics and makes recommendations for equipment ordering. “It’s not just installing, the tuning afterwards is the most important so the system will sound the best it can for that individual customer,” says Patton. He also takes each customer’s budget, ease of use, and future audio and visual needs into consideration. Patton can install basic sound systems or state-of-the-art systems that include sub-woofers and grill, dash, under glow or other custom interior and exterior lighting. He enjoys custom builds that allow him to bring a vision to life. Ensuring that a car is safe on the road, meets standards, and that members of the community are respected is as equally important to Patton as his customers' satisfaction. Patton can install kill switches to shut off sub-woofers or turn off lights quickly while driving through residential areas. He can also check and repair faulty wiring. Patton’s radio installations start at $60 and take about an hour and a half for the basics. If your car could use a sound system or lighting upgrade, give the Auto Hobby Center a call at 226-4654 to set up your consultation.

MISAWA SCHOOL LIAISON WHAT IS A SCHOOL LIAISON? A School Liaison serves as the primary point of contact for school age related matters for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. They represent public school, private school and home schooled students. They also represent, inform and assist commands. They assist families with school aged students’ issues and coordinate with the school systems to ensure there is a smooth transition for students, families and the schools. They promote parental involvement and educate the local communities and schools regarding the needs of military school aged children. School Liaisons develop and coordinate partnerships in education. They provide parents with the tools needed to overcome obstacles to education that stem from the military lifestyle and they also teach parents how to become their students’ primary advocate. The School Liaison provides a communication link with inbound and outbound personnel and family members. Military life is tough not only for the active duty member, but also for the families and especially children. The School Liaison is there to ensure the transition goes smoothly before, during and after PCS. The Misawa School Liaison is located in building 656, room 1457. She can be reached by phone at 226-2273 or by email at lydia.rood@us.af.mil.

We’re on a quest to learn more about our beginnings. We talked with Ronald Stark, who worked as Assistant Manager at the Outdoor Recreation Center for 20 years. The Outdoor Recreation Center moved into Hangar 973 and officially opened on Oct. 18, 2004. At that time the hangar was empty, except for Outdoor Recreation in the corner. They opened with camping, kayaking and approaching Misawa snow in mind. Skis, boots and bindings were galore! From its humble beginnings to the action-packed adventure program that we know it to be today, Outdoor Recreation has called the Weasels’ Den home for 16 years! You can still find Mr. Stark for Unite Program needs. He's the Community Cohesion Coordinator and can help you have a fun squadron event. Just visit him in the Community Commons!
