It has been almost four months now since the new Rotaract District 2452 has been launched, and that happened from a very special place and one of the most beautiful cities in our district, Limassol - Cyprus. As amazing as their country, the Cypriots are showing great motivation this year through their extraordinary club, executing great projects which totally set a perfect example for the motto of this year: Leading to Serve. Our united vision is paving the way for us to change lives and have a greater impact on the societies of our district, as a start, and the world in general, as a second step. United we can achieve the impossible; and this is evident from the projects that the district’s clubs are achieving. It is truly great to see everyone following the strategic plan that was shaped by every Rotaractor, in a way or another, at the beginning of this Rotarian year. It is an honor to be part of such hardworking and supportive district and a great experience to be representing it. It brings me great joy seeing the positive energy that keeps on roaring everywhere among all the clubs. Keep up the amazing work and keep on engaging yourselves to change lives to the better. Yours in Rotaract,

Vincent Fayad DRR District 2452 2013-2014

Rotaract? Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30. It is a service, leadership and community service organization which focuses on the development of young adults as leaders in their communities and workplaces. Moreover, Rotaractors take part in international service projects, in a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world. Rotaract clubs are either community or university based, and they’re sponsored by a local Rotary club.

This makes them true “partners in service” and key members of the family of Rotary. As one of Rotary’s most significant and fastest-growing service programs, with more than 8,400 clubs and more than 184,000 members in about 170 countries and geographical areas, Rotaract has become a worldwide phenomenon.

Cyprus has 10 active Rotaract clubs and belongs to District 2452 along with Armenia, Bahrain, Georgia, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Sudan and UAE.

Rotaract Club Nicosia – Ledra

Nicosia Dog Shelter On Saturday 14th September our Club went to the Nicosia Dog Shelter (NDS) as a first of series of visits to follow. Upon arrival we were given a tour around the shelter and through the individual old houses which have been modified to accommodate the dogs. The dogs

were allocated in these houses based on categories such as small size, hound, large size (e.g. Labrador, Husky). Following the tour around the shelter’s premises we helped Ramona (NDS Supervisor) to register dogs. The procedure

to register an unregistered dog is to put a collar with a unique code around their neck, so as to have a full record of all the dogs. After this we enjoyed spending some time meeting the dogs and playing with them. The collaboration between RAC Nicosia – Ledra and NDS will be an ongoing project. We shall regularly visit the shelter to take the dogs for a walk and to help in bathing them as well as provide essentials such as food, old carpets and towels. Finally we will be helping the NDS in organizing and administering any events they will host in the future.
