Interactive Whiteboard – Word Biz Tip 21 14th May Weekly E-Tip Create your own questions game with SMART Board - The Word Biz is great for ESOL, literacy and foreign languages or any another subject, as it’s a good way of testing your students’ achievements . You can find the Word Biz in the Gallery.

1. Select the gallery tab, click on “Lesson Activity Toolkit” and then press the “Interactive & Multimedia” blue tab. 2. The gallery will open up, all you have to do is find the Word Biz file, drag and drop it in to your working area 3. Press “edit” to get started. Select the number of questions, and enter the questions and answers. Text can be typed or dragged in from other sources. 4. Customize the game by setting the difficulty, timer and speed. 5.Press “OK” to start the activity and “start” to begin the game. 6. The students will have to select a letter one at a time to spell the answer to the question on the side. The score is shown at the end. 7. Press “Reset” to start again. Interactive Whiteboard – Word Guess Tip 22 19th May W eekly E - T ip Create your own hangman game with SMART Board - The Word Guess is great for ESOL, literacy and foreign languages or any another subject, as it’s a good way of checking vocabulary, specific terminology and concepts. You can find the Word Guess in the Gallery.

1. Select the gallery tab, click on “Lesson Activity Toolkit” and then press the “Interactive & Multimedia” blue tab. 2. The gallery will open up, all you have to do is find the Word Guess file, drag and drop it in to your working area. 3. Press “edit” to get started. Choose between 3 activity themes and enter the words and definitions. Text can be typed or dragged in from other sources. 4. Clues can be added for each word. 5. Press “OK” to start the activity and “start” to begin the game. 6. The students will have to select a letter once at a time. They can buy letters but it will cost a miss. 7. Weekly E-Tip Interactive Whiteboard – Templates – Vortex with pictures Remember the vortex sort activity? It’s brilliant with words, but now you also have it available with pictures. A vortex is a 2 side interactive activity for students to pull images into the proper vortex. If they choose incorrectly it’s pushed back out so it’s self-checking.

3. After entering the tool’s name in the search box and pressing the search button, click on the “Notebook Files & Pages” blue tab.

4.The gallery will open up, all you have to do is find the tool file, drag and drop it in to your working area.

5. Press “Edit” to get started. Type In the 2 vortex categories. You can enter up to 16 labels. The drop down menu beside each label assigns it to a category.

This useful interactive file works tremendously with your SMART Board - The Hot Spots is a great activity for ESOL, literacy and foreign languages or any subject where labelling needs to be done. You can find the Hot Spots in the Gallery.

1. Select the gallery tab, click on “Lesson Activity Toolkit” and then press the “Interactive & Multimedia” blue tab. 2. The gallery will open up, all you have to do is find the Hot spots file, drag and drop it in to your working area 3. Press the button to get started. Set the image or if you want to use your own one, choose custom, drag the image into the activity and send it to back. 4. Set the score option and timer – this is optional. 5. Interactive Whiteboard – Using the Spotlight Week 08 27th Nov Weekly E-Tip

The Spotlight is a very fun tool for focusing attention on one part of the screen and removing any distractions. 1. Select Spotlight on the toolbar. 2. Click and drag the Spotlight icon to move the spotlight area 3. Click and drag the edge of the spotlight area to adjust the size and proportions of the spotlight 4. Click on the Spotlight Menu and select Transparency to adjust the level of transparency of the unlit area of the screen. This makes it easier to see the context of the spotlight area 5. Click on the Spotlight Menu and select Shape to change the shape of the spotlight area

And you can also add a password to protect the edit menu. 4. Press to finish your timeline. 5. To present your timeline to your students you just need to click on the dates and the description of the event will come up. The new Magic pen is three tools in one. Use it to spotlight or magnify any area of a page and you can also write text that fades away in seconds.

Direct your Ss’ attention anytime during a lesson by spotlighting any object on a page. Simply select the magic pen and draw a circle anywhere and a spotlight instantly appears. Move it around to focus on different areas. Magnifying objects is just as easy: Draw a box around the area you want to focus on and it automatically becomes magnified. Great for Basic Literacy: Split words or letters and ask students to build up sentences or words. You can find the Text Splitter in the Gallery.

Templates are great! They’re just time savers. The Title Page in Smartboard’s gallery is worth checking out. The “Title Page” can be used to introduce and present the lesson’s objectives and notes to your students. If you have a large amount of Information you need to show and you haven’t got enough space in the normal page, the tabs work perfectly. 1. Select the gallery tab

Did you know that you can link Word documents, Power Points, PDFs, audio files, videos etc to your Notebook? There is a very easy way of doing this, you just need to click on the file you want to add and drag it to your notebook.

Interactive Whiteboard – Add content to your Gallery Tip 8 13th Jan

The My Content area is a Gallery collection reserved specifically for objects and lessons you have imported, captured or created, such as the lesson you just finished preparing. It’s also a good place to store objects and lessons you use frequently or want to share with your colleagues.

Select Add New Content

Select the Gallery tab. Press the My Content drop-down menu and choose New Folder. Type the name of the folder. You have now created an area where you can store all objects related to your lessons. Open your lesson, click on your new Folder’s drop down menu and select Add to My Content. You have now stored your lesson in your new folder. It is so easy to organize your Gallery items into meaningful groups.
