Have you ever asked students to view a video at home to prepare for the next class? This application is an easy way to check students understanding and learning directly within the video itself. What I use this for and a discussion of what others think they could use it for will be the aim of the session. Bring your computer and if you want a video URL you would like your students to gain some basic or advanced knowledge from. Nothing better than using something you already plan to use.
Naviance

Naviance has so many tools and features that would be ideal to support and enhance the TAO curriculum and which students should be encouraged to explore. For example learner profile tests that will allow students to reflect on what type of learners they are, personality tests that will allow them to reflect on, well their personalities. As well as career profiling that will allow them to generate ideas about possible future careers. It also has some good tools on building resumes, keeping journals and important information as well as access to search for information about USA universities. So come along to the session especially if you are a grade level leader or TAO teacher to see how Naviance can help you and have the opportunity to discuss how to integrate it within the curriculum you already have. A laptop would be useful but not essential. This will be more of an informational session with times for discussion to investigate how we can use these tools in our TAO classes.

- Did you know you could create exciting quiz shows in minutes using Apple Keynote? Let’s learn how to do it! - Thinking about flipping your classroom? Or maybe you need to explain to your class over and over how to find a particular bit of information that they seem to always be looking for? In this session we will look at two easy ways to record your screen and voice instructions and share the result with your students or colleagues. Bring your laptop. Apple Keynote might be preinstalled on some computers, but please make sure you are running the latest version.

Formative assessment is crucial in any classroom and being able to give immediate feedback is important. It would also be good to keep a record of this moving forward to see progress. However, how can you do this? Well GoFormative allows you to do just that. The session will outline quick formative assessments that you can do within your class or for students to complete at home and are designed for easy implementation in any classroom by any teacher. Almost all can be used, with a little modification, throughout Primary and Secondary classrooms and across the curriculum. A few are better for either younger or more sophisticated learners. Docs in Google Drive for Organisation

This session will be driven by the needs expressed for this session. This session is aimed at people who are already familiar with Google Apps and would like more of an intermediate training session. Google docs can be used as a communication tool between teachers within a department and allow collaboration. Department assessment items, learning targets, schemes of work, worksheets etc are accessible in the shared Google drive.

Learning in the Age of Instagram

Social media is everywhere and many of students are engaging with others every day. But do they learn from social media? How can teachers use social media apps like Instagram to engage with students, share and assess? This session will share case studies of teachers using Instagram and other social media tools in the classroom. We will discuss the pros and cons and brainstorm how we could use social media in our classrooms. To make the most of this session, you need only an open mind and willingness to learn a new tool or share your knowledge and experience with your colleagues. Please also bring the questions, concerns and challenges you observe about using social media in education.
Apple Teacher

The Apple Teacher program was recently created to support and celebrate educators: you receive access to Apple Teacher Learning Centre where you can learn new skills, take quizzes that would lead you to be recognised as an Apple Teacher. There are two paths available: iPad and Mac. In this session we will learn more about the program, acquire an Apple ID from one of 11 countries where the program is available and take the first quiz on the path to Apple Teacher recognition. Time permitting, we will also look at Google Certified Educator program and its benefits. Bring a laptop to get started.
